Speaking of Robert, I'm surprised he didn't react much to the death of Lorent Tyrell, who I assume is his cousin (i.e. if Lorent's mom Alys Beesbury is the sister of Robert's mom Beony Beesbury). Then again, he isn't too concerned about his Frey-side cousins either. And Lazy Leo isn't too bothered about his cousin Mina or her family's fate.

That last moment where Dahan fucks up the jump is a real punch of an ending, Samwell basically killed a bunch of innocent people and didn't even find Gilly WHILST lying to the rest of The Order about actually doing his job. 10/10 amazing.
It was a real kick in the gut, but I also couldn’t help but be reminded of that scene from The Other Guys where they confidently leap from the roof of a building
I'm glad that Alleras seemed genuinely upset about Jon Vance's death. I know she wasn't in love with him, but at least he wasn't just a disposable tool to her.
Lazy Leo seemed pretty pissed too, which was a little surprising. I wonder why? Not saying they had a thing going on or anything, but maybe Jon's work or connections were somehow important to whatever Leo is actually up to?
@@jsull81 Leo definitely seems to have schemes, he leveraged his way into the Nightwalkers once he saw the power they had access to. Then again, maybe Leo and Jack Vance were beating each other off, only time will tell.

@@1handedtyper I watched Preston's video requesting submissions and felt inspired by the brief. So I took those notes and just wrote as much high-quality text as I could, structured as a rough draft. My submission was very different from the final product, and not nearly as well polished, but I can see where some of my ideas have had some influence, which is neat. I sent an incomplete chapter as I ran out of time to work on it, but I was keeping in mind that Preston had said quality is much more important than quantity. I also added some notes for clarity, or to indicate what I was going for with the overall structure and theme of the chapter. I would advise that if you're thinking of becoming a contributer, do it! Just make sure that you watch and listen carefully to the briefs, and work hard on the quality. I'm going to contribute further in the future if I can!
I love how Sam is slowly going from well-meaning towards becoming more of a callous and potentially villainous puppetmaster. the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Plus, if you stumbled upon a boat which would take you to Meereen that also had two sources of magic power, you'd get it to set sail sharpish so no time to get rid of the people currently aboard!

I don't think it was really intentional but I see Sam going from a member of celibate guardians to screwing things up for love as a parallel to Anakin (Jedi/Sith trope) 3. If you screw something up unintentionally you will get a clap and a "Bravo" where I'm from, so the title of the chapter has a double meaning to me. Great work!!
Really enjoyed the use of the glass candle and how it referenced Bran’s experience with the 3EC, and how it offered an explanation for the experience of many characters suspected to be influenced by glass candle wielders.
Incredible chapter!!! I am thrilled to see how the heist plot came together and to follow up on little loose ends like the alchemist Frey and Edric Storm's crew of protectors.
Imma be honest, can someone explain the last sentence to me, with the bath? Maybe I'll get it on a reread. Also loved Drahan, finally a genuinely religious character/pov! Y'all managed to make him come to life in just a few sentences. Last thing: I love how the Freys are slowly turning from "weasly villain house" into an extremely diverse cast of characters, and Frey becoming one of the most alive-feeling houses in Westeros
So Sam is clearly an inside kid, his dad wanted a son and heir who was more bold and determined, so the dad had Sam bathed in Aurochs (basically Cow) blood. Sam did not enjoy the experience, the traumatic memory of the bath seems to come up when the Glass Candle connection starts faltering. They Frey clan politics is really starting to interest me too, I’m hoping for some more development on the different factions
What's up with those dead guards (the Naathi twins)? a) why did the Fishwife get the weights wrong and b) why are they both dead, since one of them should've been underdosed, and the other overdosed? The Fishwife is one of Edric Storm's loyal men - is he working on behalf of the Stannis/Edric cause? Like, is he trying to sabotage the Hightowers' deal to get ships (I thought the deal already went through?) The Hightowers themselves are tied to both Baratheon causes: Lord Leyton's wife is a Florent (like Stannis' wife and Edric mother), and Tommen's wife Margaery is a granddaughter of Lord Leyton (probably not via the Florent wife, though). So its maybe a toss-up if someone loyal to Stannis/Edric would try to sabotage or assist the Hightowers? The Fishwife also screwed up the Unsullied names at the gate (calling Brown Bat "Grey Gnat") - so is he completely incompetent, or is he deliberately trying to sabotage Dahan's plot... in which case, why wouldn't he just tattle to Tregar for a nice reward? Any ideas?
Lewys has no interest in keeping the guards alive. If they can't talk they can't tell anyone that he was the one who poisoned them. So he lies about their sizes then mixes the wine all together so both flasks contain a fatal dose. Then he hopes it looks like an accident to Dahan (maybe claiming the guards were changed) so he can still collect the other half of the payment the following day.
I heard a theory that the sword Truth was sold to the iron bank of braavos by Moredo Rogare to pay for ships and soldiers to attack Lys at the end of f&b. The sword then passed to the house of black and white where it would feature in a scene where Arya tells the truth about her identity.
Is "Bravo" a reference to Manzoni's "The Bethroted"? So happy and proud if it is, because I've extensively studied the novel in high school here in Italy!
great chapter! Loved it how you occasionally smeared Sam's thoughts into the bravo's, showing that he's new at this glass candle thing and doesn't know how to fully separate himself from his target. The "Mole" that the sealord had, was that supposed to be the "Mother Mole" that was supposedly at Hardhome? The age seemed about right. Why couldn't Sam use the glass candle though to see inside the palace? Even if he doesn't speak their language he can still hitch a ride in somebody's thoughts and watch as they walk around. Great chapter though, credit to Preston and the writers/editors for putting together my favorite chapter so far.
I think they’re going with the logic that Sam can’t access everyone’s mind. Since he’s learning to use the candle he can only enter certain people. Limiting his options.
I like the parallel between Lord Leyton and Tregar Ormellon both being obsessed by prophesy. I suppoes a lot of women end up "marrying" their fathers...
I've missed a theory video. How did Mother Mole get to Lys from Hardhome? It's the other end of the world and last we heard everyone was stuck there, including the ships.
As much as I really likd this chapter and while I do understand that most of the story is bittersweet, I think letting Dahan live (even though Sam would abandon him) on the run togetehr with Mole would have worked too.
Its interesting that its harder for people to go inside the mind of people of the opposite gender. Maybe this is why Varymir wasn't able to skinchange into that wildling woman.
I laughed out loud when only Alleras and Pate were able to tap into the minds of women. Such a great touch!

So Sam is clearly an inside kid, his dad wanted a son and heir who was more bold and determined, so the dad had Sam bathed in Aurochs (basically Cow) blood. Sam did not enjoy the experience, the traumatic memory of the bath seems to come up when the Glass Candle connection starts faltering.

What's up with those dead guards (the Naathi twins)? a) why did the Fishwife get the weights wrong and b) why are they both dead, since one of them should've been underdosed, and the other overdosed?
The Fishwife is one of Edric Storm's loyal men - is he working on behalf of the Stannis/Edric cause? Like, is he trying to sabotage the Hightowers' deal to get ships (I thought the deal already went through?) The Hightowers themselves are tied to both Baratheon causes: Lord Leyton's wife is a Florent (like Stannis' wife and Edric mother), and Tommen's wife Margaery is a granddaughter of Lord Leyton (probably not via the Florent wife, though). So its maybe a toss-up if someone loyal to Stannis/Edric would try to sabotage or assist the Hightowers? The Fishwife also screwed up the Unsullied names at the gate (calling Brown Bat "Grey Gnat") - so is he completely incompetent, or is he deliberately trying to sabotage Dahan's plot... in which case, why wouldn't he just tattle to Tregar for a nice reward?
Any ideas?

Lewys has no interest in keeping the guards alive. If they can't talk they can't tell anyone that he was the one who poisoned them. So he lies about their sizes then mixes the wine all together so both flasks contain a fatal dose. Then he hopes it looks like an accident to Dahan (maybe claiming the guards were changed) so he can still collect the other half of the payment the following day.
Or the Fishwife mixed the contents of the two flasks in order to kill both guards.

I heard a theory that the sword Truth was sold to the iron bank of braavos by Moredo Rogare to pay for ships and soldiers to attack Lys at the end of f&b. The sword then passed to the house of black and white where it would feature in a scene where Arya tells the truth about her identity.

great chapter! Loved it how you occasionally smeared Sam's thoughts into the bravo's, showing that he's new at this glass candle thing and doesn't know how to fully separate himself from his target. The "Mole" that the sealord had, was that supposed to be the "Mother Mole" that was supposedly at Hardhome? The age seemed about right. Why couldn't Sam use the glass candle though to see inside the palace? Even if he doesn't speak their language he can still hitch a ride in somebody's thoughts and watch as they walk around.
Great chapter though, credit to Preston and the writers/editors for putting together my favorite chapter so far.
good question, maybe Dahan was easier to send thoughts to because he's so devoutly religious and interpreted them as his god
I think they’re going with the logic that Sam can’t access everyone’s mind. Since he’s learning to use the candle he can only enter certain people. Limiting his options.

I've missed a theory video. How did Mother Mole get to Lys from Hardhome? It's the other end of the world and last we heard everyone was stuck there, including the ships.
As much as I really likd this chapter and while I do understand that most of the story is bittersweet, I think letting Dahan live (even though Sam would abandon him) on the run togetehr with Mole would have worked too.
