- Lyrics:
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say
BREATHE REPRISE
Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
And when I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the fire
Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells.
In the summer of 1974 on a to hot and humid Indiana night my girl and I were listening to this on a little am radio, I proposed to her that night.
36 years later and five great kids all grown up. She was killed one night by a drunk driver
Now sometimes when it is to hot and humid, I play this song, and suddenly I am no longer 62 but am 19 again and for a brief moment in time I am back with my girl.
I miss you Brit.
Wow
I respect your story sir. Keep enjoying.
All my respect for you.

So sad!
Greetings from France.
You'll be 7 minutes older when this song is finished...Time.

I don’t find this song depressing. On the contrary. I find it as sort of a walk up call and motivational statement. The clock is running. Don’t waste time. If you have a goal, or a dream, get moving. Now is as good a time as any.
Exactly
Listening to this song while designing an inane budget process for the government sure makes it depressing
living in england + this song = depressing
Give it a couple years
Age ?
The best part is listening to this song and reading the comments of other people describing their own experiences about the song
What I'm just doing:)
i didn't try on this note
Keep on my friends.
👍😄
Literally doing just that lol
I'm 62 years old, my brother is 63, he passed last week. As a teen I used to sneak up in his room to borrow his Albums.
This Pink Floyd song brings me back a little miracle of seeing us listening to P F.
Thinking of you Steeve.❤❤❤
So sorry for your loss
Peace brother. Sorry bout your bro. I have a brother, we're 15 months apart. Im choaking up just writing this. God Bless.
Music owns so much of our lives, so many sweet memories, take care.
"Time" is probably the best alarm song you can put on, for two reasons:
1) The intro.
2) The lyrics. You're just bound to feel guilty.
Rule #1 never set your favorite song as alarm cause you will hate it after
BAJJ haha it has happened with me once
BAJJ I just did the same from my bedroom on to the 50 watts Bluetooth this morning thinking that the mAte didn’t woke up the kids she almost had heart attack kick her alarm clock in to the litter box we are having a good laugh about tonight
hahaha that is funny
try first of the month - btnh, also really good as an alarm ^^
I quit my job because of this song. I am 21 years old and I now realize I shouldn't work just to make some money to get by. I should work towards my dreams, and I don't want to waste time at this job if it won't allow me to go forward with my goal.
Sorry to break it to you but the song didn't make the choice buddy.
MLGRACCOON Derp i think he meant his reason for quitting was the song.
sikkpanda Still it was his decision.
Seriously? Are you stupid? ofcourse you need to work to make money, so you can follow your dreams they dont just fly out your arse
Bulbasaur69 True that.
Wow. 52 years have already passed since this songs release! Time really does fly.
If I had a chance to send message back to my teenage self, it would just be a message to listen to this song. I mean, *really* listen.
For so many reasons.
+G Mimer if I could send a message back I`d say put £250 on Leicester to win premiership in 2016
+housecarl6 this is not back to the future son
I listened to this as a teenager, and really thought I got it. But nothing can prepare you for how quickly time piles up over and by.
I am my teenage self
You're abso(fucking)lutely right....!!!!
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
+Ferrdinand Muro And time will keep going...doesn't end with us.
+Ryn ny (kat) also, time is relative in space. your time, the earth's time, the sun's time, the milkyway time, the universe....
Tells much about life. :)
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death....
+TheTot Process Enjoyed your thoughts.
Let's face it:
Only Pink Floyd could make a depressing song about mortality sound so damn good.
Every time I listen to the album I feel so low, and yet I keep coming back to listen again.
May I introduce you to Joy Division
Stop This Train - John Mayer
Ruler of Everything - Tally Hall
Street Spirit - Radiohead
My senior quote right here:
"You are young and life is long as there is time to kill today. And then one day you find ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run"
Beautiful lyrics and meaning.
I quoted a Traveling Wilbury's song instead "maybe somewhere down the road a ways, when someone plays Purple Haze" in a strange way it kinda is similar.
so are you still alive now?
@@ledoxxeurlf absolutely
This is my situation. Right outta high school, I went traveling on freight trains, some of the best experiences of my life so far. Some years went by and here I am finding myself trying to catch up not with others, but where I think i should be. Those ten years went fast as fuck.
@@bobbybrucher Don't worry about catching up I am 30 years behind and would not change a thing.
Dad... I love you... This was your favorite song your whole life, and it was beautiful that you died listening to it and with a smile on your face.. You are Home now with mum, dancing with her... I love you daddy.
@Charlie Speary My Dad died 2 weeks ago, and this song is him.
Respect
Please this is my dad’s favorite song, don’t make me cry
To leave this world they dig mines that travel for thousands of miles, they come out up through the ground on the other side of the moon. Behind it.
Well said
Man this takes me back. When I was a little kid back in the early 80's my dad would put this album on his stereo at night and turn it up loud where we could hear it on the front porch. We lived out in the country so we didn't have to worry about the music being too loud. I sure miss my dad. He passed away in 2009. Great memories!!!
My dad, also, is the reason I love music so much. Especially Pink Floyd. Cheers to dads that pass on wonderful music.
My dad too got me into Floyd by how much he played it in his car in the early 80s.
That guitar solo makes me want to cry because of good it is
+Belphegor *how good
bitch
exactly....
this is the heaviest guitar solo
Every. Single. Time!
fun fact: the tempo of the majority of this song is 60 BPM, which means one beat per second. So, time itself is basically the beat in this song 😊😊
it think thats the reason :D
+anesinko11 I guess they did it on purpose nothing is done randomly with Pink Floyd :D (ex Shine on You crazy Diamond for Syd Barret)
+acandycoatedclown yes, thats how we musicians spend our time. counting beats to classic rock songs. and yes, im a musician. #selfpromotion
according to the Earth, yes. But outside our world time is not linear
+anesinko11 Most times that I have seen this piece in written form, the tempo has been 128 bpm. but if you combine 2 bars it would be close.
In 100 years, when we are all dead, people will hear and understand Pink Floyd!

Time is relative and elusive. My dad explained this to me twenty some years ago. Now I'm raising two ten year olds of my own, and I can finally understand what he and this song refers to... thank you Dad, thank you PF.
It’s like “Hnnngh” always going through it, but then you have the calm past and the hopeful calm future, and occasionally the best. A calm present.

The best song of all time to me. This was and still is a classic.
Right. It's just a masterpiece and this solo by Gilmour, oh my God....
One last drink for those wasted days-
More than one
The guitar solo is so climatic and beautiful in this one. Such a good song.
I haven’t found a bad solo in a Pink Floyd song
I know right learning to fly shine on you crazy diamond and this are hauntingly beautiful.
That solo suits this song perfectly.
Gilmour's guitar expresses emotion
A timeless masterpiece! This music will still be relevant 100 years from now.
Yes ,of course, i think the same. Wonderfull song , great Band. Love it so much❤
If time ever had a sound, it would sound like this.
+brazwen am with you .
+brazwen Definitely.
+brazwen It does, just listen closely after pressing play.
+brazwen time dose have a sound do some drugs youll hear it
+Sean Dallas I've done "some drugs" and all they did was make me feel good. When I've done "a lot of drugs", is when I hear time... and colors. :)
Enjoy your time in this impermanent dimension.
When someone talks about dimension and impermanence and space, I know, he/she really understands Pink Floyd's work.
+ThinkFloyd I plan on being an astrophysicist so that says something
+Zwoosh McZ great we need people like you with wisdom
you explain it man this a dimensión that runs on your head with a play button, but one time you heard it you want more
This Dimension has Pink Floyd... What other dimension has Pink Floyd?
I was once a Pink Floyd fan, 72 now. "waiting for some one or something to show you the way" Those words were so true for me friends. One night in the pub in the late 70's I said to my mate "Colin, there's got to be more to life than this, I feel so empty. That was the beginning, as a self employed builder (and still am) I got a large job on a church. A lady came out to speak with me quite often and told me I needed Christ who is the way, truth and life (John 14:6) I once was lost but now I'm found.
❤❤❤❤
Bro, I am so glad the good lord showed himself to you. If you knew me in person you would question the good lord, I am a bit of rough around the edges but God made his way to me as well. GO WITH GOD!
You should have stuck with Floyd.
I get so emotional listening to these songs.. I literally start crying..
Pink Floyd makes me happy I'm alive, but sad at the same time, but it's a pleasant sadness.. If that makes sense.
What I'm trying to say?
Thankyou, Pink Floyd, for making the best god damn music I've ever heard.
Preach.
+GameCreation TutorialsRBLX Fucking right on! pleasant sadness is the perfect metaphor for floyd's music; floyd would approve of the irony.

Time is a perception but the lyrics on this song are true. Time is everywhere and nowhere . Like a computer page upon page with your perception of your time in whatever zone or page your tuned to. I’m 6ft2in stand by me pick out any item or object and while we might agree on what ever object we looked at we did not see the object exactly the same . My view is from my height. Your view probably a touch shorter. Perception of reality is also time related...oneself never dies you pass to a higher plane.
Take your "time"...
Music will always wait for you!

"Time...its something we all take for granted but never think that we can never have it back. Unlike money, Time is something you can't get back. Time is priceless. Life is priceless."

+AhrixSolo Do everything as if today was your last day on this earth, don't do things as if you have years and years, for anything can happen. Do good, help people, support your friends, cry, laugh. Live life. It's okay to be afraid, life is about being happy, pursuing your dreams, supporting others, doing good, etc etc.
@@degan506 Actually life’s about trying to survive and cope with the regrets, misery, loneliness and pain that life gives you in abundance.

Like all Pink Floyd's work. Right from Animals to Dark Side of the Moon to Brain Damage to Atom Heart Mother. All of them are masterpieces. So much depth and meaning, you cannot possibly find just one interpretation to any song. They mean different to every one, at every moment of their lives.
However, *TIME & ECHOES* are the most remarkable and imperishable songs ever made in Pink Floyd's era as well as World's music history.
You gotta love PF like a religion, may be then you can understand they created masterpieces, not just music and vocals.
I agree!
The best band ever :')
I even made up my own story to coincide with Dark Side of The Moon. Here's a link to it:
Breathe: The family are heading to the airport to travel to their cousins in Arizona. The daughter is anxious because she's never been on a plane before, so the parents try to calm her down. It works eventually, so they decide to play some road games to pass the time.
On The Run: They're boarding the airplane. The plane experiences turbulence during the flight a few times, which brings the daughter's anxiety back up. The parents console her again until the plane crashes in Houston. The daughter is the only survivor.
Time: It turns out the plane crashed into a monument made for the gods in order to keep life running. Of course with it destroyed, the gods have no choice but to end all life. So to bring about the apocalypse, they send the Sun towards the Earth. Just for this situation, scientists all over the world had developed spacecraft designed to withstand up to a million people each. Lucky for the girl, one happens to be in Houston. She manages to get inside just before takeoff.
The Great Gig In The Sky: The girl is crying now because her home planet has been destroyed, as well as her family. But at the same time, she is in awe of the beauty of the universe. She hopes her cousins made it to a ship.
Money: They land on a new planet that can sustain life, and develop their new society rather quickly. It only takes a full year. But when resources start running low, two nations start preparing to war for what's left of said resources.
Us and Them: The little girl is forced to participate in the war. Since she is just a child, she is given an assistant to aide her. She and 199 other little girls are trained rigorously to become tough killing machines.
Any Colour You Like: The two nations are finally at war. Many harsh battles are being fought, but it all comes to an end when the nuke is dropped.
Brain Damage: The assistant is still alive but is lost in the fallout. He looks for other survivors. Eventually, he finds the little girl. She's hurt badly. The assistant attempts to heal her, but a survivor from the other nation kills her off. In a fit of rage, the assistant mercilessly stabs the other survivor.
Eclipse: The assistant properly mourns over the little girl, crying over her grave with a bouquet of flowers. In a state of depression, the assistant commits suicide to end the internal pain of not being able to save her.
---THE END---
+Troll Breaker Breathe Reprise: The little girl wakes up 5 years later from a coma only to learn it was all a dream an she had been in a car accident on the way to the airport.
Mario J Nah, If I pulled the 'it was all a dream' cliche, people would be pissed.
I'm a 57 year old father of 2 daughters who brought his girls up listening to the Mighty Floyd and I'm glad to say that they love Floyd not because of me but for Floyds music and now my 15 year old daughter plays the guitar excellent for her age and can play plenty of Gilmours solo I'm a very proud dad 😂❤

Can't stop listening to this album, it's always in my top list.
The day before my grandfather died, he told me to always look after myself and never let an opportunity go by. Forty-two years later, I can say I didn't always look after myself, but I always took the chance. ❤
If more people would listen to Pink Floyd the world would be a better place. Time
This song conveys the concept of time better than any other song I can think of. There is a lot of wisdom in this song that just about anyone can relate to.
its about moving to hollywood and never making it
funny thing is they were completely wacked out as well! lol
I don't think Roger Waters was a regular drug user, but maybe he was naturally wacked out; most geniuses are crazy on some level. Syd Barret, well that's another story haha.
I have to be honest, I’m really not a huge Pink Floyd fan, but I can’t put into words how much I love this song. I love melancholic music. Kind of dark and dreary sound, I can’t get enough of it, and this song might be why. I had this album on CD when I was very young. I got a CD player and a pair of headphones gifted to me when I was a toddler, and you’d never see me without it. I played this CD over and over and over specifically for this song. For years, I’ve had the tiniest scraps of memory concerning this song, more a feeling it gave me than an actual memory, but I couldn’t remember any of the words or the name. I found it today and the nostalgia was so intense that it almost brought me to tears. Then once the guitar solo kicked in, it did, and trust me it takes a lot to make me cry. Been nearly 2 decades since I’ve heard this song, and the words I could never remember came back to me so clearly that I could’ve sang along with it if I had really wanted to. If they pressed this song on to vinyl as a single, I’d pick it up without thinking. Hell, I might even buy the album just for Time.
wish I could express the importance of this song to me
Lyrics seem more like a poem
Well, haha, that's Floyd for ya! They have created musical masterpieces with a level of greatness that will never ever be reached again in the history of music! Same goes for The Beatles but everyone knows that!

Good lyrics do....
I find you can say that about queen as well
This was one of his favourite tracks, we used to listen to this song all the time while we were hanging out in his car. And now I listen to it to relive all those memories again. He was the love of my life, my soulmate. I never imagined I'd lose him one day. He passed away just recently on 6th September. I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye or tell him I love him. I hadn't seen him for over a month and we were planning to spend our birthdays together. His is on 17th September and mine on 18th of the same month. It was a tragic departure cuz everything was left incomplete. I was holding a grudge against him for the last time we had broken up and when he texted me and said he loves me I didn't even say it back. He kept on asking me when would I return back to Delhi from my hometown. I wish I would have gone back sooner. I didn't even get to hear his voice or see him for the last time and it hurts so much to think I'll never be able to do that again. Please come back Woungh I'm really sorry for all the times I was mean to you but I bet you knew how deeply I love you and I will keep on loving you until the end of time. Always and forever.
I understand. My ex was a drug addict and it destroyed our relationship. We were supposed to get married and have a wonderful life, but drugs stole it all and we split in late 2004. He died alone last July, having gone from being wealthy and extremely successful to physically sick and living hand to mouth because of the decades of addiction. Over the years he kept coming back to say he loved me and that he'd change, but he could never give up the drugs/alcohol. I only found out a month after he died, so missed his funeral. I was devastated by that, so my friend and I decided to have a little funeral for him ourselves. It was beautiful and really helped me to heal.
Much love.

I've heard this a million times, always liked it, but just now appreciated what a masterpiece it really is...
The first time I ever heard this song was my second time on acid. I payed on my friends couch with a pillow over my face and watched the words dance in the dark. Then, this song touched something inside me I couldn’t explain. Now I can, I felt nostalgia for the time that was passing around me, conscious of the ticking seconds. That feeling has never left me.
Have you watched live at Pompeii while tripping? Check it out. Echoes!!!!

pink Floyd is about the wall that seperates two types of people. in each of the songs there are two meanings to each of the songs as pink Floyd is the wall that divides the people who find either meaning. the fans are the bricks that make up that wall.
dude that's deep
and what are those types?
la mejor banda del mundo.....temas como Time....Echoes..cierras tus ojos y te transportas.....flotas...mágico.
Hooded Creeper this isn't even off the wall and the wall is the main character having a mental breakdown and living in isolation
what? this literally makes no sense
I've been listening to this track most of my life, my dad would constantly play his many records during my childhood. When I got an ipod in grade 7, Dark Side of the Moon was one of the first albums on it. Now a dozen years later, the lyrics hit me lick a truck; they've been relevant this whole time and I never noticed til the Time passed and I could see it from behind.
I love pink Floyd badass band
I have nothing but wonderful memories with this song, most early 80s when I was young, helping my dad in the garage working on his chevelle listening to records. I'd always choose Pink Floyd (never allowed to touch his vinyl).
Time has flown by. It's depressing. He now has brain damage from a bad car wreck 15 years ago, can't remember those times too well....least I can, though.
good man u sound nice
No matter what age someone is, they are interested in what they're interested in, no matter the expiernences most likely wrought with pain they've been through, everyone often has a way of coping, and recently, although mainly only with teens has that been to cope with whatever inner turmoil and emotional pain brought onto them by whatever it is in their life, and their general respons has been to either use drugs or look at memes for hours. The world never ceasces to amaze me in unexplicable ways, often ways with a deep, often underlying, sadness to it.
En lo que salió ese Elepe en Venezuela lo compre y como lo tripiamos toda la pata chavos y chavas fue una nota elevada
607 people are still kicking around on a piece of ground in their home
town, waiting for someone or something to show them the way, hanging on in quiet desperation; and don't want to admit the sad truth.
That's not true. 646 Jamaicans thought that it means Dis I like.
David shut the fuck up david
Talking about redundant redundancy
I just wanna say that yesterday I read your comment and today I thought about it all day. I had to come back to this video to reply to tell you your post has resonated with me and inspired me to go harder for my goals. I have a general idea of the layout of where my life will go, I'm still quite young and theres a lot of unknowns, but for me I suppose that means I have lots of choices. I will push hard for my goals and enjoy every day i can, even if that means extracting joy from the most menial of jobs. Thank you stranger somewhere for changing another's life.
I will be ~60 in 2050. And I'd be jamin this song. Can you imagine ? Wow. I think I was born in the right generation to teach young people some real good music. Thanks , mom.
God willing I'll see 83 in 2050 , fuck I'm gettin' on eh . ..
Can you imagine this song will become ancient at some point ? lol AWESOME
Me too, and after my mile swim, paddle boarding off Coronado, I'll celebrate my 90th, Birthday. On April 13th, with another 13 birthdays to go. My Grandpa, Harry Sims, always said, " I'm doing 100," when asked how things were going. Only, on his 100th birthday, looking slightly disgusted on it already arriving, said, " I should have said, 103, I could have lived in three centuries". His only complaint, his feet were sore, at times. Not knowing, shaking all those sick hands in winter, will be hi death. But, what a way to go. Sharp as a tack, and wanting three more yeRs, when you hit 100, no?
such stuff
:[
Jacqueline Wow... 2050... I'll be 47 and I'll be jammin' to an about 60 year old vinyl of this song on a 34 year old pick-up... You're right... Good generation to be born in... Thanks mom. And especially dad for showing me this kind of music!
Giving this song a thumbs up is the least one can do.
This song hits you hits your conscience so hard that you're bound to enter a trance.
This would be perfect for Guardians Of The Galaxy vol.3
I was searching this song, it took me HOURS to find the name and finally, FINALLY! Found it :D love this song!
hahaha thats a lot of TIME
Yeah lol
Do you know "shazam" ?
Paul JOUANNARD Yes, but i had the song in my mind.
Thanks anyways.
Okay ! 😃
Such an amazing song never fails to make me cry everytime I listen to it, I'm 21and it really makes me think about the time I waste when life is so short but then I go on to waste more time it's just the human physc I suppose... God this song is so amazing though my favourite line is:"The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older" one of the best lyrics I've ever heard in a song.
And Alan Parsons Project "Time" can also be a tear jerker.
Time, flowing like the river
To the sea
To the sea.
This would be a great theme for a James Bond movie.
yes !!
Zach Cloutier this is too good for James Bond
If you EVER learn to play guitar play this solo, holy shit,it's just great
+MrApocalisse Dude the solo is very fun to play. It sounds like it's a melody as if it is someone singing. That is what I like about David Gilmore.
yeeeah man playing this solo is deep shit
Music from a different dimension
Over 2000 people who have thumbed down this video have not lived long enough to understand this song, but in Time, they will. We All Do With Time..no pun intended..
Trust me prolly will not live long enough in my experience
Who is here after flash trailer?

The one thing about this song .... Is you never run out of time.
time is supposed to be relative... but over the years it seems congruent. The same sorrow and disappointments. The same heart ache and depression. But. As I listen to this song. These ensconces of sadness seem to make more sense... and in the short seven minutes i seems as though time is still. It seems as though no matter what happens, it is still only time. No longer is it the determent to life I am forced to endure, but the normality of progression. No longer is the time I experience only sorrow, it is just time. Passing of the ages, without judgement, without recourse. Time is only time. Don't fret on the past or wallow in the sadness because time will only progress, so you might as well go along with it. Don't give up because it only means an end to something that is unending. It doesn't make sense to give up, or wallow in sorrow. It doesn't matter if you relish in happiness. The only truth is time will continue with or without you so make your time with it meaningful and be grateful you have the opportunity. That is all.
Exactly !
it's so annoying that my English isn't that great to read your story :(
Ritalin
word
I'm guessing you're high.
timeless tune
Wesley Martin this pun could not be more fucking true
Wesley Martin timeless message
+The Sage okey
+The Sage bud-um bshhhh
+Hugh Jones. I see what YOU did too. Changed the sentence to 'past' tense. Clever.
Alana Parson was the genius behind the clock's intro. Love it!
Pink Floyd was talking about YOLO decades before it was even a thing.
Fuck off for the love of God
***** Why are u being an ass? That is one of the messages of the song
Lavernius Tucker he was saying "live life to the fullest" not "do a ton of stupid stuff because YOLO" Yolo and life life to the fullest have two meaning now adays
Jah Jay Yeah like You Only Live Once to LIve Life to the Fullest I don't understand why someone would do stupid shit if there are better things to do- The only reason people have to "run and run to catch up with the sun and come up behind them again" is that stupid ass YOLO
Jah Jay It seemed like he was saying you only have one life one chance and you can't just waste it! No one has to "tell people when to run" and that's one of the reasons they "miss their starting gun", they have "ten years of time to kill today" to do unproductive things like "stay home to watch the rain" and all the stupid shit that YOLO has presented to us in recent years that people like me and you have no agenda saved for that shit, which is what the band were trying to say, people need to get off their asses and do actual things not dumb YOLO activity to what, impress people who have nothing better to do than watch them on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc doing things related to YOLO. That is one of the disadvantages of technology today.... all those people who can't wait to take a selfie while theyre fucking driving and about minutes from their destination decide to like "Heeyyy I'm driving to work ad stopping at McDonalds to get McCafe!" and next thing you die in a car accident! This is one of the issues that Time was trying to warn against, not technology since not everything existed back then, but not to become slaves to unproductive routines and that you are wasting your chance at life with! Take me for an example, I am almost thirteen this September and I got a laptop this passed christmas and for the whole month of June I did nothing but watch videos on my laptop... Then I realized hey i'm overweight and decided to get off my ass and get up earlier than noon and walk in the morning. Actually doing something productive- Mom and Dad, who got me up do to this, had the same message has the song, I just can't lie in bed with my laptop on my chest all day and this is what other people should realize! Hope u agree and sorry for so many posts
Increíble canción, espectacular pink floyd, esto si es MÚSICA DE VERDAD 😍 ARTE EN SU MÁXIMO ESPLENDOR
I can officially say that I come here to listen to this song due to my love for Pink Floyd which was born through listening to them when I was a young lad with my dad, and I still love many of their songs and albums to this day.
This song is depressing.
In a good way :D
John Stark I don't even know that. It's just depressing.
Esteban Mercado Harsh lol, I consider it depressing in a good way because it's nice to know that other people have those thoughts about life.
Esteban Mercado Can you even understand lyrics? Seriously, you can't be this stupid.
it's only depressing because it's true lol the older you get it seems the years literally go by faster and faster and then it worries you that you aren't living it up enough til you ultimately lose it all.
My brother bought me this album in 1976 for Christmas. At the age of 16 I thought I had all the time in the world. How true that one day you find ten years have got behind you! The fourth stanza really hits home now in 2018.
Listened to this song a lot in 1990s…when I was in 20s…and that too after getting admission in the most prestigious engineering college…and it always motivated me not to waste time…
I think I did alright 🕺… but now it’s difficult to listen to this song…too many emotions of the time gone by …. Life itself relentlessly moving forward…all grandparents gone…many uncles/aunts gone..nothing tragic… just the wheels of time… constantly…relentlessly … yes of course I have two sons… one of them despite my disapproval for tattoos, got one..that too the Pink Floyd logo…
Both boys brought up on the dose of 1970s rock… dire stairs…pink Floyd…queens…billy Joel…I mean the whole gig…
…and Time goes on…
"The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say" wow...
Came here after watching "ETERNALS".
I used to listen to this during my entire childhood and teen years. Now I’m 30 and it’s like where did all of that time ago. Life is crazy. I love this song more than anything. 😌
Describes a lot of old friends:
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way
The rest of the song kinda fits what I'm going thru right now. And I'm sure plenty of other are now and always will be. Thats why this is a classic.
When I go back to my hometown. I'll karaoke this song at the bar.
Home, home again! lol Maybe it'll wake up my old friends who do nothing with their lives.
It's too late for them mate
