    Por supuesto que son importantes la técnica y la belleza de la voz, pero cuando se les une la calidad actoral de Del Monaco, el espectáculo es sublime.

    He was the best whatever anyone says!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Technicle, playing the role, handsome, but above all, he is supporting his voice and his vocals perfectly and makes the sound constantly in whatever vocal he is making and not too much maiking an effort to try it all much louder for the sake of his own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Он переигрывает,в оперном искусстве это невыносимо.Но главное-это пошлось,слово которое не имеет эквивалента в вашем языке.Мне жаль вас и оперу.

    He has noticeably more voice here than in the 1961 video from Tokyo. I never knew before when his voice went into decline, but it had to be shortly after this.

      He started experimenting with a more open vocal technique (inspired by Di Stefano) in the early 1960s that never really worked for his voice. By 1964 he was back to his original technique

    I'm no fan of del Monaco, but when a performer fits the role (or vice versa) I have nothing to do about it. This was perfect (rare, mixed with Russkiye). Ps. I've never understood why Canio pronounces those last words, it'd had more sense if by Tonio instead. He's who orchestrated everything.

    • @ioancoca6712
      @ioancoca6712 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      In many productions Tonio is the one who says those words. However , i think that when Canio says "la commedia e finita" the impact is bigger

    • @raresbonciu6089
      @raresbonciu6089 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with you, in fact in the libretto it's Tonio that says "la commedia è finita", but many directors attribute these last words to Canio.

    • @amantedellopera1681

      They were first uttered by a tenor when Caruso for some reason was obliged to sing them in a performance,this started the long line of tenors doing likewise,I like u prefer the baritone to utter them as in the 1968 vickers version

    • @luismigueltorresborrego4316
      @luismigueltorresborrego4316 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cosa de divos, que quieren ser el niño en el bautizo y el muerto en el entierro. Caruso quiso ser el que dijera la últimas palabras, porque tienen gran fuerza dramática, y los demás tenores siguieron el camino de la vanidad.

    I appreciate all the comments below, but I have to add my choice for the best Canio I've ever heard and watched. Check out the following TH-cam video and judge for yourself if Franco Corelli is not the most terrifying, jealousy-ridden Canio that ever performed the role. His singing is superb, not holding back his emotions, and his acting is much more realistic and intense than del Monaco's.
