The Corolla I was working on was a total stranger and I didn't even know where the starter relay was. Although the relay is not the same, you led me right to the AM2 fuse. Saved hours I'm sure of pulling and checking relays! Thanks man! I know it's 4 years old. 😆

Thank you thank you thank you thank you! I did a dumb thing the other day when I connected the jumper cables backwards and destroyed a bunch of fuses. I probably also destroyed the car battery, but it was old anyway and I replaced it. The car was still totally dead. I learned the main, 100 amp fuse bolts in, and replaced it. The car was still dead, but the dash lights and fans worked. The radio did not work. I went through every under-the-hood fuse and found several scorched ones, and one bad one. The radio and more dash lights came back after replacing the bad fuses, but no starter activity. Your video offered the solution - that under-the-dash fuse was bad.
I should go through all the other under-the-dash fuses, but I dread the contortions I need to get into to get under there.
But thank you for a great video!

I smacked the starter of my 2007 Toyota Corolla CE 4-door with a hammer a few times and had someone crank it. It did the trick. The good old trick still works, hehe. Nonetheless, thank you for the great, quick, and simple content here. Cheers!

It's very organize, and you explain things well.
Step by step, and with relevant information such as parts names, along with great explanations.
What can I say?.......... Your video is very helpful!... thanks for making it!
My corolla is a 2010 S model , and I can't find any of this info about it online.
So, thanks to your video I now know about the starter relay, starter fuse, the AM2 fuse.
And this put together gives me an idea of how to talk a service and parts depth.
And what kind of questions to ask, in other to locate these fuses and relays.

Thank you for the video. My 2007 Corolla recently started having a delay before cranking occasionally. It started just fine in the below zero weather last week but had the delay again today just once while running errands. It isn't consistent and sometimes it will do it just once in the middle of the day. Then it won't do it again for a few days. I was wondering where the starter relay and neutral safety switches were.

Ended up pushing it out on the side of the relay with the tip of the blade of my knife. Then tested power to the red wire out of ignition switch and had power there. Am assuming starter is bad. Excellent video. I have a question. My recently purchased 2005 Matrix with a 1.8 liter, automatic, 4wd has an intermittant no crank issue. I have battery voltage to my black solenoid wire while I am in the crank position, yet I still have a no crank condition. I don't belive that I'm hearing the solenoid engage. At some point just before I purchased this Matrix a Toyota dealer replaced the battery, starter and starter relay for this same issue. I tapped on the starter and solenoid but still no crank. I'm thinking that my solenoid on this new starter could have an issue. This Matrix has what I belive to be a theft deterent system. My security dash light, panic button and fob for locking and un-locking the car are working. Could my cut relay be an issue? From your video it appears that the starter relay and cut relay are two different relays. All of my electrical connections are clean and tight on my starter and battery. Grounds are good along with positive cables. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thank you I had that problem today after trying to take a day off to rest fortunately did not work turn out the way I wanted it to this car failed on me surprisingly but it’s been kind of often on. I’ve been wondering what was up sometimes it start sometimes you have a hard time starting I have a new starter on it, both breakers talked about 30 amp breaker. I guess that is what they were good then luckily I had a relay I thought about it for the future had it sitting in my room was about to. Had a really twist my fingers in hand to get in there kind of strained my arm, but she started right up after that. Perfect video thank you.

That's awesome! I really appreciate how detailed your explanation was! I could use your help with my situation. I have a 2007 FJ Cruiser with a no-crank, no-start issue. When I removed the starter relay and used a jumper wire, the car started. However, when I shift into reverse or drive, it works initially, but as soon as I try to change the gear to drive or start again, the engine dies. Could the neutral safety switch be the problem? I already replaced the starter relay, but it didn’t fix the issue.

Great video! I need some advice. I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla S with an automatic transmission. Well first after watching your video I think I need to check the starter relay and the fuses. However, I may not have to, let me explain. The car only starts in neutral and a sometimes in park, The battery and cables are replaced and new (They were due for a change). The reverse lights also work when I put the car into reverse with the emergency brake on and key turned to the start position. The needle indicator on the Neutral Safety Switch seems to be in the correct location. So, now the car is not starting in park or neutral, I even tried reverse. OK, now when I try to start the car in park or in neutral I hear a low thud, very faint. Similar to what you hear when your battery is going dead. Correction, I have actually heard that all along. I need to have someone turn the key and poke my head under the hood and maybe use a stethoscope. After, everything I said, here is where is get interesting. When I turn the key to the start position, and poke my head under the hood, I hear a slight high pitch ringing - very faint - coming from the starter relay, I confirmed it with a stethoscope Last, part of this, I drove over a divider island while entering a supermarket parking lot on the driver's side tire. So, any ideas. I am wondering if the neutral safety switch is bad and I still hear a thud, maybe from the starter? I am concerned about the transmission, but don't want to file a claim It seem like I never get a break, I would greatly, greatly appreciate your opinion, Thanks!

what can it be if the engine will crank but not start? changed the alternator because the battery light would come on sometimes and the motor seems to be not getting fire even though it cranks. New battery and changed the NSW about 7 months ago. The OBD switch will not read it comes back as an error. Had the old alternator bench diagnosed and it came back good even though the battery light would come on for a while and then go off for a while. Seems like everything shut down with the engine, sprayed starting fluid into the throttle body though it did not even try to crank, anything would help if possible!!!

I figured out my issue! Turns out to be an issue with the shift linkage. I manually tested positions with the neutral safety switch until I got the thing to start. Once it started, I couldn't get it into gear. So now I have to lift 'er up & see what's what. Thanks! Great audio btw. Did you lav up?

A relay click sound might not be from the starter relay so it's not indicative of either a good or bad safety switch. Good luck with the repair! The audio is from a Samsung galaxy s10+

Also the relay WILL click regardless of the safety switch position

@@LehewTech Good point. There are a few relays tucked away in there

Hi, i have a 2008 Corolla having a crank no start issue with it. We have double checked keys , security alarm, also no check engine light is on so it’s not throwing any codes on the scanner. we ran a spark & fuel test as well. the car just cranks but does not turn over. No burnt fuses. Could it be the computer burned or some other electric problem?

mine is labeled on the top cover of the fuse panel 15a and its not for the starter. no idea which one would go to the starter. none blown either way.

My 06 corolla stopped running going down the hiway. After pulling over no crank no start. Could any of the things in the video be the issue?

Um so my AM2 fuse is blowing when I turn my ignition to start, first step to fix this would be to change the ignition relay first? I googled guys changing ignition switches and that wasnt it. Read 1 guy unplugged fuel injectors until the fuses stopped poppin, what do you think? Thank you
