Port Meadow to Medley Manor Farm, Godstow, Trout and Burgess Field, Oxford, May 19th-20th 2024

  • I start from very close to William Lucy Way, in the Waterways estate. I walk to Medley Manor Farm on the other side of the Thames, to look at the café they opened not long ago. Deciding to go on to Wolvercote instead, I carry on north, past Bossoms boatyard and marina and the Medley Sailing Club. But near the other end of Port Meadow, my way gets blocked, and I come back to finish the walk the next morning. This gives me an opportunity to look at the ruins of Godstow Nunnery and then enjoy a pint at the Trout, sitting in glorious sun and watching the river. Finally, I walk back through Burgess Field Nature Park to Aristotle Lane.
