    Incredible - thanks for posting this, I've always wondered what it would look like from the air. It is jaw-dropping from the road(s). Of all the wonders to see 'in the area', this is a very special place and few know about it. I paused it at 5 seconds in and just stared.
    And the one and only Factory Butte - unmistakable.
    As others mentioned - combine this with Cathedral Valley and make a loop out of it.
    Roads are usually well-graded but I've seen it washed out in places. Don't go if roads are wet or rain is pending - this stuff is extremely slick when wet regardless of what you're driving. Worth mentioning - don't rely on cell phones and gps (take a paper map).
    And you can get all the way to I-70 if you continue north...

    Thank you for the footage. At 0:48 Sunset Blue Hour is _after_ sunset, not before as your text says.This place is on my list for this Fall. Your drone shots make me wish I owned one. Actually, I wish I could just fly.

    This is a fantastic area that I explored forty years ago and many times since. I once forded the Fremont River west of Hanksville and spent the next few days exploring the barren drainages coming down from the Henry Mountains.

    5:13.....stunning indeed...look at those colors...wow. Got my money saved up for a trip....this might just be it. Will look for a good airport close by. (will never fly into Denver again ! Your rental car place is 11 miles down the road, so you go by shuttle. They take you one way...BUT to bring the car back...you come in on another way...good luck with that part. At last you see the area..oh joy...but one problem...how you gonna do it when you can't get to it ? )

    • @TheTravelingTacos
      @TheTravelingTacos  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s about a 6-8 hour drive from Denver anyways, so it definitely not the closest! I’d guess Salt Lake City is closer but maybe you could find flights into Moab or a smaller regional airport.

    I am heading there next week, and appreciate the tips of getting there sunrise/sunset! Which would you say brings out the colors more? Seems like sunrise... Were there other people there competing for the same spots to video? I am hoping by going in March it will be a bit off season and decreases the amount of people! Thx

      Sunrise for sure. We went Memorial Day weekend in 2022 and there was only one other group camping! Enjoy it :)

    hi! i'm gonna be heading there in october this year and i have some questions. were all of your shots taken from the "The Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS)" location or were some taken from the actually bentonite hill location pinned on google map (this one is a part of the Cathedral valley loop of Capitol reef, just west of MDRS)? i'm trying to decide which location to go to because i will only have one blue hour day to spend on this.
    also, for The Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS), pretty much all the reviews on google map are followed by the owner replying "you're trespassing on private land", but i think they were all from when this facility was still open, but it's marked permanently closed now. so is this area fully accessible now? i couldn't find any info online.
    thank you so much :D

      Hi there! So these are from beyond the mars research location. We put that into Google maps and drove about 2, if not more, miles past it! The hills are a little hard to find but we saw another group camping at the base so we knew we were in the right spot. If you only have an hour go at sunrise if you can. The hills are prettier in color then! I hope this helps. I also do a have a bit more info om TheTravelingTacos.com !

      @@TheTravelingTacos I actually found the video through your blog post! It was probably the most helpful one I have found on rainbow hills! I do have one more question, what kind of car were you driving for this? We will most likely be in a midsize stock suv like the Toyota rav 4, would it work for this drive?

      @TheTravelingTacos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lulcKathy omg I love it ❤️ thank you! We have a stock 2015 Jeep Cherokee. Nothing too crazy. That road was very decent compared to many others we took it on that trip…

    Hi, I'm going on a trip to Colorado and Utah in a few weeks and wanted to visit this place. From your experience do you think a regular car can handle the drive to the hills? I've done some research and been seeing mixed messages on type of vehicles that can handle the drive.

    • @TheTravelingTacos
      @TheTravelingTacos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I think so! As long as it hasn’t rained recently and the road isn’t muddy or washed out :)

    • @cierakitty
      @cierakitty ปีที่แล้ว

      Use your head while driving...pay attention...you will be fine. 12 year old car did just fine. (In other areas, when climbing higher on up, I did turn off the AC for my cars benefit ).

    Hi Taco's. Did you have cell service (Verizon) while at the hills or was it all GPS devices?

    • @TheTravelingTacos
      @TheTravelingTacos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do not remember so I would air on the side of we did not! ;)f We just download things from Google Maps and try to follow them. This was a weird spot because we didn't have an exact location, so we just drove around looking for them! There are more details on where exactly we found them on my website / in the description of the video!

      It’s not bad at all, just a regular dirt road!
