The National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Tennessee - The Traveling Tacos
The National Civil Rights Museum is located in Memphis, Tennesse at The Loraine Motel where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. died on April 4, 1968.
The museum does a great job chronicling America’s tumultuous past from its very founding all the way through to modern times in the eyes of African Americans.
The museum costs $20 in 2024 for a general admission ticket and features interactive exhibits, historic collections, movies, and more.

Touring Elvis Presley's Graceland in Memphis Tennessee - The Traveling Tacos

Graceland is the famous home of Elvis Presley. Now it’s been turned into a museum showcasing his mansion, airplanes, and famous worn-on-stage Las Vegas jumpsuits. Graceland is located in the heart of Memphis, Tennessee and is a sight to be seen - even if you aren’t the biggest Elvis fan, like me. Blanca Peak beat me up and took my lunch money back in early June of 2006. I was a teenager climbing solo, traveling light, aiming to do it as a day hike. I summited in the mid-afternoon, but then descended into the wrong basin and took an embarrassingly long time to figure it out. After three days and two nights, I stumbled out of there and bummed a ride over close to where my car was parked. I had gone a few days without food, but the Wendy's drive-through was the only place that was still open after I got back to my hotel. I bought a ton of food but found I couldn't eat very much at a time. So I went back to the hotel and spent the night in this weird cycle of sleeping an hour or two, eating what I could, sleeping another hour or so, eating more, etc. Certainly an adventure
