Angelina said in an interview that the scene where she finds her wings gone is a metaphor for sexual assault: you wake up to find yourself drugged and something taken away from you.
Little fun fact:The child you described as creepy was actually Angelina Jolie's real life daughter (who I think is adorable BTW 😊) because she was the only kid who wasn't scared of her mother in costume.
"not gonna lie, the crow's kinda yummy" lmfaooo, i had a crush on him as a kid, but i didn't realize just how fanservicey he actually is until i watched the movie literally last week, as a 20 year old. he's naked in his first scene, his neckline nearly reaches his navel and he calls maleficent "mistress" the entire movie (which is because she's technically sort of a queen, but still).
Little fact about her discovering the wings are gone: Angelina Jolie said the scene was one giant metaphor for being violated. The drugging, the pain, realizing what happened, it's all right there. P.S. I'm only wording it as such to get past the censors.
I LOVE this movie so damn much!!! Angelina Jolie was pure perfection in that role. I think I’ve watched the whole thing multiple times with ten different people because I wanted to introduce them to that beautiful movie.
Angelina Jolie was the perfect decision to play this character. She is both beautiful and terrifying at the same time. She also made her sympathetic, even thought she is the "villain" of the story.
4:33 Peaceful like Tink? Tinkerbell wanted to kill Wendy and worked with the evil Captain Hook... Cool reaction! Didn't expect to see Stiles in here, it was perfect!!! Nice greetings from Germany!
@@jodie9392 Everyone's sexuality can be personal, and it's not my place to speculate; the comments on this episode about Angie and the Crow were hilarious. Either way, this channel is my favorite, and he is the best!
The reason for the iron hurting faeries, is because it ties into our own mythology about the fae. It was said that iron is an natural anti-magic material and a representation of the fading of magic.
You know, I love the animated sleeping beauty because it’s a classic, but there is one thing this movie did even better than the animated one. AURORA ACTUALLY LOOKS 16! Can we all just appreciate how they did get Aurora to actually look like she was 16 and not just get a 20s popular face to try and be 16?
“Why is this guy keeping those wings as trophies?!” *me thinking of my fallen angel OC who cuts angels wings off and has a collection of like 20 of em*
You think that if it was the crow it’d be weird. Meanwhile in the original Sleeping Beauty Aurora just turns 16 & falls in love with a 20 year old man that she marries because it was arranged by both of their parents 💀
Actually, the thing you thought Stefan did to Maleficent is what they were trying to point out through symbolism. How he took her wings forcefully against her will, which I think is a powerful metaphor
12:14 - 12:19 My thoughts exactly. What were the writers thinking, if she's suppose to be the villain? Honestly, seeing the scene of 5-year old Aurora falling off the cliff makes me wonder how short of a movie this would have been if Maleficent just let her die there and the 3 Pixies get blamed for it and executed. It's horrible to think about, but it's show how evil Maleficent can be.
Maleficent was bound to regret her curse because the curse itself says Aurora would be "loved by all who meet her" and Maleficent met Aurora. Additionally, the curse says "no power on earth can change it," which is why Maleficent couldn't take the curse back.
Angeline Jolie was the perfect cast for Maleficent she brought the role to life. I am glad they gave her more of a backstory because the animated film aside from being not invited didnt seem like a good reason to curse a child, this film gave us a wickedly good reason to be so petty. Granted we are talking fairies and well just look at how petty Tinker Bell can get. Oh and MID you need to read your Scottish, Irish, German, and all the old fairy tales. Fairies are not always peaceful you have your light fae/fairies and dark fae/fairies. And fairies and elves same thing, in fact pretty much all the creatures in the Moors are fairies but different species. Diaval becoming a dragon was easily my favorite moment, wished it was Maleficent like in the animation, but we still got a dragon. And yes to the sequel! It isnt super great but its got Catwoman versus Lara Croft in it.
Not so fun fact: they removed it from Disney Plus because Stephan cutting off her wings with iron chains is a metaphor for rape, u know, with the way she woke up and broke down once she realized what was stolen from her (her wings) & they thought that was too dark for a kid's movie. .... but they have death scenes of beloved characters for kids of all ages to watch.... Anyway, in case u were wondering, that's why it's not on Disney Plus, but the sequel is. I love your commentary reactions, they're always so fun to watch. 💜💎!!
I love how petty Maleficent is after being assaulted, although I kind of wish that her wings hadn't returned to her. That kind of implies that once the person who assaulted you is punished for their crime, that you're healed. But that kind of trauma never fully goes away. Even if they had her slowly grow her wings back, that would have been better in my opinion.
I really like this movie! Also btw, iron being fairy-kryptonite is old European lore (usually just cold-wrought iron, but in this film it extends to worked iron armor and weapons)
She's actually a dark Fae. So, technically, yes, she's a fairy. And fae are often michevious. So, peaceful? Not always. Changelings, for instance, are also fae.
I adore this movie! Angelina Jolie was perfect in this role and the cinematography was amazing. I really hope you do the sequel. It's one of the few times the sequel is on par with the original.
I remember I used to think Angelina Jolie lost enough weight to show her cheek bones. But then I saw a behind the scenes time lapse video with her movie makeup. Great commentary as always!

Would you be open to react to Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and At World's End? I love those movies to death (and yes I do fear death, Mr. Jones)
I didn’t like this movie when I was younger I think I was like 5 years old when this movie came out. And I think this movie is really interesting. And did you know that the actress that plays little Aurora Is played by Angelina’s daughter in real life.😇 My dad would make so many references to the original sleeping beauty movie. Like you’ll prick your finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel. And Blah Blah Blah. WHY DID DISNEY+ TAKE IT OFF.😩
How dare you say mrs. Weasley 🤣🤣 shes professor umbridge! Angelina Jolie is stunning in this movie, fun fact: that was her daughter that grabbed her horns, other children were scared of her so they put her daughter in it. Loved your reaction so much!!!!💞
You thinking that the actor who plays the human version of the Crow is "Yummy" is me every time I watch this movie. Also Malificent's fault in that whole situation is her gift she gave to Aurora was that everyone who meets her will love her. that was her undoing. XD

yeah, that scene gave me chills. he took her identity, her strength, and her freedom and left her alive to suffer without them.
