Little long explanation of what the song means, but I've done lots of research. The meaning behind the song and video is actually quite deep/beautiful in a sense. Gonna break it done in points numbered below. 1. The song is about getting over the devil within themselves(ourselves), moving forward away from our past demons. 2. Each band member chose their own way to die that was significant to them (some chose worst fears, some chose meaning) 3. When each band member died, they had on the mask from the previous album and moved forward in the new mask, representing their overcoming of the past demons, moving forward as a new person 3. Sid (aka - DJ Starscream) chose to cannibalize his fingers because as a DJ, his hands/fingers are most significant to his craft 4. Mick chose to rip his face apart and make himself disappear as that is how he sometimes feels even as a big man, invisible and insignificant 5. Corey chose to blow up himself, exploding his head too. Most front men for bands end up with a big head and he was symbolizing how he wants to stay grounded 6. Jim chose to blow up his body as he couldn't imagine a worse way to die 7. Chris chose crows because he is afraid of birds 8. Craig chose a dog because the dog is great 9. Clown chose hanging himself and burning himself because when he leaves this world, f*ck it, it's on everyone else to pick up the pieces (he directed and came up with the concept behind this video. He is the mastermind behind the whole masks/gimmick). 10. The 2 guys in red represent the 2 members no longer in the band (Paul died of an overdose and Joey left the band due to health issues) 11. Slipknot fans are referred to as maggots. The people writhing/wiggling in the background ground represent the maggots with them on their journey 12. And last is the 2 guys getting shanked. Those are the 2 new band members that replaced the guys no longer in the band. Them being murdered by the other band members is symbolic of them being initiated into the band/family. It's also a change of the masks. The old masks are the suicides, but you see the new masks for that album as well, with the exception of the them two new members of the band who wear the same masks are are "baptized" into the band by being killed by the old band members instead of committing suicide.
saw them again at San Bernadino fairgrounds and the band before them was... SLAYER. so the pit got big, trash cans got set on fire, then the pit started throwing the cans around. When SlipKnot finally came on the crowd was burnt out, so the band called us all out. Middle of the show Clowns drums got unscrewed from the stage so he just started tossing them around, hitting corey and sid. By the time the show was over I saw a poor asian lady whos jaw had been broken, not lying at all, it was half off to one side. I'm 17, IDK what the hell to do so I just went deer. Then I ran and jumped in the shallow lake they had at the fair grounds when the show was over.
Lex is exactly what this music is about, don't get me wrong i love all kinds of music, i can literally listen to most anything (apart from maybe jazz LOL) but this kind of music brings out the DEVIL in I lol so to speak but not in a bad way more in like a crazy inner demon stress release kind of way. 1999 at Ozzfest they were just moved to the first stage (although not noted on the actual line up, not sure why and can’t remember which band they replaced the day I went) I remember the masks and I was going to not watch them but my husband said they have a unique sound and are going places! It’s was great! Had my tickets to their show last May which was canceled because of f/n Covid.

It's also a change of the masks. The old masks are the suicides, but you see the new masks for that album as well, with the exception of the them two new members of the band who wear the same masks are are "baptized" into the band by being killed by the old band members instead of committing suicide.

saw them again at San Bernadino fairgrounds and the band before them was... SLAYER. so the pit got big, trash cans got set on fire, then the pit started throwing the cans around. When SlipKnot finally came on the crowd was burnt out, so the band called us all out. Middle of the show Clowns drums got unscrewed from the stage so he just started tossing them around, hitting corey and sid. By the time the show was over I saw a poor asian lady whos jaw had been broken, not lying at all, it was half off to one side. I'm 17, IDK what the hell to do so I just went deer. Then I ran and jumped in the shallow lake they had at the fair grounds when the show was over.

Lex is exactly what this music is about, don't get me wrong i love all kinds of music, i can literally listen to most anything (apart from maybe jazz LOL) but this kind of music brings out the DEVIL in I lol so to speak but not in a bad way more in like a crazy inner demon stress release kind of way. 1999 at Ozzfest they were just moved to the first stage (although not noted on the actual line up, not sure why and can’t remember which band they replaced the day I went) I remember the masks and I was going to not watch them but my husband said they have a unique sound and are going places! It’s was great! Had my tickets to their show last May which was canceled because of f/n Covid.
