@@dirtysmity yeah I read up on it so sad man :( at least hopefully like they said it was in his sleep so hopefully a peaceful passing, god rest his soul.
Lex: "Can you turn this up? Does it go louder?" Brad: "It's... pretty loud..." I specifically clicked this one to watch her get excited and him throw a wet blanket on it. Called it.
I see it as an anti-war song. "I did my time and I want out." The character is referring that he did his required time, either in Iraq, or in the military as a whole and wants out. "Go drill your deserts, go fill your graves" Pretty self explanatory. "Then fill your mouth with all the money you will save." While on deployment, troops make a lot more than back in the states. It's still not a lot, but compared to state-side, it's a small fortune. "I'm done! It has begun, I'm not the only one." The character is at his breaking point, he's fed up with the system as a whole. However, his psyche has been corrupted by what he has seen and done. There are others just like him. The chorus of the song refers to the overall corruption and death of a generation as a result of this war. "Fake anti-fascist lie." The lie based off of the poor intelligence that caused us to invade in the first place. "I've tried to tell you, but your purple hearts are giving out." The part about the purple hearts seems to have more than one meaning. The purple heart is a medal that the U.S. military members receive for being wounded in combat. Purple heart could also mean a literal heart that is in poor health. "Can't stop the killing idea. If it's hunting season. Is this what you want?" Now the character is out of the combat zone, back state-side, but all he has is a messed up psyche. Once the "kill switch" has been turned on, it doesn't turned off. All he has is pent up stress, homicidal and suicidal tendencies with a society that does not care or even blames him as part of the problem. Hence the whole term "Psychosocial."

I had a friend in HS that was a big new waver (it was mid 80s). She lost a bet and had to come wit me to an Iron Maiden/ Judas priest show, and it was kind of like Lex, a Metalhead was born. It was such a cool feeling to watch the transformation. This channel brings a lot of that back in vivid detail. Thanks you two.
I can see Lex being the person driving with Slipknot turned up full blast having the time of her life. Parked at a red light and the person looking over in the other car thinking ‘Damn I wish I had that much fun in my life’ 😂😂🤘🏻
Fuuuuckkk been watching all Slipknot reactions today. I always loved hearing Slipknot drum isolated tracks, been a Maggot since day one. Thank you for everything!
Ppl always say it’s about war, but I think it’s about society, and money. Corey calls himself a martyr because he’s speaking out on his shallow society is. “The cracks in the road we paved” we built society and it can’t stay intact forever.
I love how Lex gets so into the jams and music and Brad is trying to analyze. I can never tell if Brad actually digs it while he is listening haha. None the less, loved this!!!
I love how lex just allows herself to get swept up with the music. Really love how yinz are open to new music and try to enjoy not just the music but the context of the songs as well
I literally sit here and watch you analyze the song, as it should be done. Metal has been and never will be surface level, it’s always deeper than you think

Omg. Thank you guys for diving into Slipknot again. But sad news. Founding member and drummer till 2013 Joey jordison passed away yesterday. Not only was he a great drummer but he was known as one of the best heavy metal drummers ever.
I think “PsychSocial” refers to the socialization process and America’s Foreign Policy. This song came out during the iraq war so it’s basically an anti war song. You should think about trying one of their “newe songs, to see were they are at as artists now. Maybe “Unsainted” or “ We Are Not Your Kind.” Or maybe something a little older but still “new” like Negative One.
RIP Joey!!!! What you contributed to SlipKnot will never go unheard.. I am watching him sub for Lars with Metallica right now. This is crazy Joey and Dusty Hill from ZZ Top gone in a day...
When the groove dropped, I half-expected Lex to start a two-person mosh pit on the couch - taking Brad totally by surprise. And Brad - she didn't mean "loud." She meant deafening. Imagine being at the concert - front right - next to the stack. lol
I LOVE IT when you react to a heavy metal song and Brad has a cautious not sure if he likes it look on his face... ...and Lex is going absolutely berserk next to him 😆

This song is about how humanity and society is being influenced in such a way that we have all become toxic to ourselves and each other. The martyr part is saying everyone thinks that they themselves suffer the most. It is also about being killed in many different ways from war to the environment to racial unrest.
It is a anti-war song and the funny part is that me and multiple Army buddies jammed out to this in Iraq all the time. I found Slipknot through one of my Army buddies in AIT. RIP Joey you were one of the best drummers of all time!
I'm glad you guys keep an open mind about music. I love everything from classical to death metal. I've been a musician on several instruments for 30 years. It is a must to listen to all genres to find their strengths and flaws. Music is how we as humans express ourselves. I went to an African drum show years ago not expecting to be blown away.
