    7:21 This part is an bi-metal switch. It normal close it, and feed the heating element of power. Above a high temperature like around 150 degrees or so, it opens, no power to the heating element. And close if temp is drop around 90 degrees or so. To test it, disconnect main power. Then disconnect the bi-metal switch wires. Use an multimeter and select diode option. Then normal you hear the beeps of the multimeter. The head the bi-metal switch with an heating paint remover gun at distance of some around 5 or 10 cm. If its around 150 a 200 degrees (i us an IKEA food temp. meter) then its pops open and no beeps from multimeter. The stop heating this part and wait till it cools down and pops to close and multimeter beeps again. Then you sure this part works. I come later this week with an vid on yt. NEVER bridged this part! Its a safety for overheating the element and prevents to blowup. If you do, then some machine are total-loss, because this is an expensive part. The better bay a new one. 2nd Safety: NEVER change a fuse for and higher then normal. I repair some and find out some have try repair and do some stupid thinks like that. An 2 amp's fuse need to replace to an 2 Amp's not an 5 amps!

    My work uses the hurricane 1500 models and they absolutely suck. We have 7 of them and they barely last a week. We've been through 5 pumps and 3 relays have welded themselves shut, which killed 3 of the pumps. The other 2 had the internal springs break and send shrapnel though it. Anyone know of a company that makes heavy duty foggers?

    I obtained a fog machine that says the fog machine on it so I'm not sure how old it is but I can tell that it was sitting for a long time so I did clean it and bring it home and everything and it was working and I haven't used it in a long time and I tried the vinegar thing because it was working when I tried it but only for a short few minutes so I did the vinegar and it started working again but now my power button is not working it's kind of loose or something and you have to push it in really hard and hold it the entire time for it to stay on which of course is not worth the time what do I do? I also don't want to take it apart because Idk how to do any wiring or how to fix the button if I have to it also doesn't look like it opens too easy there is also a skull on the front that looks like whoever had it before me put it there themselves

      Are you talking about the main power switch? Like a rocker/toggle that you flip to the on position? It sounds like if it works when you press the button really hard then it is just an issue with the button/switch. You can probably find a suitable replacement on amazon and swap it fairly easily. However if you aren't comfortable opening the machine I'd recommend just buying a new one.

      @@charlieaf92 yes its the button its always been "loose" since i obtained it a few yrs ago and i dont use it often because it also stinks and yes i cleaned it before but the odor remains. Being i unclogged it using vinegar from a different vid the man happened to mention how bad he could smell the vinegar but when I did it it still had the strange smell that it always has I barely smelled any vinegar at all. But yes I was using it and it seemed to be working good or at least decent and then after a few minutes it got clogged so I cleaned it the next day and after I cleaned it it just kept shutting off and it wouldn't go back on and I tried to press it really hard but it would only go on for a second

    • @charlieaf92
      @charlieaf92  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tiiitoooo Hm. If it isn't a particularly nice machine you're probably better off replacing it. If you want something that I will last for years I recommend American DJ or Chauvet. That being said - the button is just closing a circuit to trigger a relay for the pump. Pressing it harder won't "unclog" the machine or have any impact on how well the pump works. So, if it does work when you press it really hard, that means the switch itself is having issues. There could certainly be other issues as well though - so it just comes down to how much time and money you want to invest troubleshooting and repairing the machine.

    • @charlieaf92
      @charlieaf92  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you talking about the fog switch? Like just clamping it so whenever it is finished heating it runs fog until it clicks off again? If so, yeah you're right. The switch is de-activated while the machine heats so there's no harm in doing that. However, before turning the machine off it is best to let it sit (without the switch held down) for a while to give the heating element a chance to burn off any residual fog fluid.

      Hi Daniel. I am sorry but I don't know for sure. It sounds like perhaps your heater is not warming up enough. Hello! I have something weird going on with my smoke machines. I usually use 3 at the same time. When they were new They would pop smoke at a continuous 1 full minute. But slowly they started to only work 10 seconds. Now one of them only works 1 or 2 seconds and then i need to wait 2 minutes to pop 2 more seconds. What should be the cause for something like this to happen? and how are 3 machines at the same time reacting the same. I have 3 different wireless controllers and sometimes they only wake up with a specific color etc.
    I dont know if it makes sense being all the 3 wireless controllers. But also i dont feel it makes sense all 3 machines stopping exactly at the same time when they are not connected in any way.
    One of them stopped working all together today. I think the pump is not pulling water at all.. I just want to understand what mistery is going on with my smoke machines.

    • @charlieaf92
      @charlieaf92  ปีที่แล้ว

      Greetings! 3 at one time? Sounds like you have quite the party going on! First I would start trying to eliminate variables to narrow down on what the problem is. To begin with only turn on ONE machine and see if it works properly. If so, then the issue is related to having 3 on at once. Next I would try to determine if the wireless remotes are getting mixed signals. If you're able to use all 3 without the wireless remotes turned on, try that. If they still act funny we know it isn't the remotes. The only other thing I can think of is that the machines aren't getting enough power because they're sharing a circuit (although I'd expect this just to pop a circuit breaker) but it is worth trying to make sure they're on different circuits. My suspicion though is that it is either unrelated to having 3 machines and just a coincidence, or that it is related to the wireless remotes using the same signals and getting mixed up.

    • @AlexandreCalvario
      @AlexandreCalvario ปีที่แล้ว

      @@charlieaf92 all 3 remotes work on all 3 fog machines. For eg i can use only 1 remote and it will make all 3 machines work. The remote has 4 options. Rainbow, blue green and red. Sometimes I try several colors, and some specific color works. Its so random. I'm actually lost on whats going on on these machines. I dont know If its power related, wireless controller related. etc. Why would they behave the same at the same time. Even trying several remotes.

    • @charlieaf92
      @charlieaf92  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlexandreCalvario It is quite a mystery. The best advice I can give is to try to eliminate as many variables as possible to narrow down what is causing the problem. Did you try with just 1 machine and see if it exhibits the same behavior?

      @charlieaf92  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlexandreCalvario So with just 1 machine it still will only produce for about 10 seconds? If that is the case, it isn't interference from the other machines or an overloaded circuit. It sounds like whatever the cause, the issue occurred in all 3 machines. A faulty part or a design flaw or some sort. If you're comfortable opening it up - while unplugged - and tracing the wires, you can see if there is a thermostat and start testing or going from there. I would also reach out to the manufacturer as this could be something they're already aware of and have a fix for.

      @@o1af350 yeah that isn't terribly cold. I've used my machines in the 40s and never had much of an issue with reheating. I would say 5-10 minutes would be the max time required to heat. If you find it is struggling in the colder weather I would suggest trying to find a way to shield it from the temperature. I have seen some people use rubbermaid bins, turned upside down and put over the machine. A hole cut in the side for the fog to come out.

    I have a AYRA WSM 04 MKII 3000W fog machine, which has a little problem, the heater gets warm but the pump does not do anything, also the time controller and the wireless remote controller don't burn any lights or do anything.
    But I discovered that there was a burnt-through fuse of 2A 250W inside on the circuit board. I replaced it and turned it on again, the fuse burned through immediately and nothing else happened.
    Is there a possibility that the relay is broken? Or do you think that there might be another problem?

    • @charlieaf92
      @charlieaf92  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +World One Tube Hey there. A fuse blowing indicates a problem. Maybe a short circuit somewhere? I don't think a stuck relay would do that, but I am definitely not an expert. Do you have any pictures of the inside of the machine? I'd start by tracing from the fuse to see where the wires go - look for anything that's out of place (burnt/melted wire insulation, broken connections, etc)

    • @charlieaf92
      @charlieaf92  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there. Are you talking about an occasional puff of smoke or is it dispensing and running the pump? As I understand it, the occasional puff of smoke is just residual fog fluid in the heater building up pressure and pushing out. If you let it sit long enough, it should stop - but other than that I'm not aware of any way to prevent it. One thing that MIGHT help reduce it is to stop running the pump before it shuts off due to the heater needing to cycle. That will help reduce the amount of unheated fluid in the chamber I'd think.

      Hey Juan - I'm not sure about the remote. I would check eBay and also try giving Chauvet a call - they may have inventory of them or its possible they continue to use the same part for other machines.
      Regarding your other question - it sounds like a problem with either your pump or the supply to the pump. I'd start by checking the supply line to the pump - make sure the filter isn't dirty or clogged. If you're unsure about the filter you could try removing it and run the machine with just the open end of the hose (just make sure your fluid reservoir is clear of any debris). If it isn't the supply line, I'd try taking the pump apart and cleaning it + lubricating it then put it back together. I did this with my American DJ Fog Hog and it made a night and day difference.

      Hi Juan. I apologize for the delay responding to you. I would recommend calling Chauvet first - they have excellent customer service and may have spare controls available. Regarding your fog output, I'd check the filter screen on the intake tube (if it has one). With one of my older machines I increased output substantially by dissembling the pump, cleaning it and reassembling it. I am not sure if the pump in your machine is able to be disassembled though.

      If that's the case, find the switch - it is probably black, mounted perpendicular to the ground, and you can hear a little metal ball move around inside when you tilt the machine or shake it. If you are able to - check the leads going to the pump and verify that you are getting voltage when you press the button after the unit is fully warmed up. If the new pump isn't designed to run on the same power source as the old one that could be your problem.

Now the light just stays on all the time and doesn't goes off even if the heat radiating from it feels like it should be all warmed up.

      Hey Scott. Sorry I really don't have any ideas - its tough to say without being able to see it. If you'd like, you can email me some pictures of the machine with the cover off and I'll try to come up with something. My address is my username @gmail.com ... One thing you may want to try is to swap the old pump back in as a test to see if it works. If it does, then its definitely related to the new pump and/or the way its being wired. If not, it would indicate you're now dealing with a new issue unrelated to the pump itself.

    My smoke machine was left in a humid place from October 31 of 2016 till today
    Tomorrow is halloween and my smoke machine was dispensing little puffs of smoke
    All I did was let it heat up for 5 min or so until I got it up and running perfectly
    I didn't take it apart or get any special materials just the smoke machine liquid
    (I have a VFI 1000 smoke machine)
    Best of luck and a happy Holloween to all

    Thank you, my problem was the cable from the smoke fluid to the pump came lose.
    My one didn't even have anything securing it in, just had to stuff it back in.

    Watched your video and I do have a question. Would low voltage cause in issue where the heater core is concerned? I have a Chauvet fog machine, where the LED light comes on (wahoo!) but nothing engages. The ready light never turns green, just stays red and the machine never get's hot.

      Hey Steve. I'm not sure. If you have a volt meter - check the voltage at the heater and see what you're getting. I'd imagine as long as you're getting something it should slowly heat at least a bit. A voltage problem (or no voltage) at the heater makes me think it could be the thermostat switch malfunctioning. Of course, if you have proper voltage at the heater but no heat then I think your problem is a break in the heater element. Without a volt meter, it is going to be hard to say for sure but from what you said it sounds like one of those could be the issue.
      On mine, the LEDs (fluid level indicator lights) are powered almost independently from a 12v control board so getting lighting there just confirms that your main fuse is good.

      +charlieaf92 Thank you for your help! I finally had time to work on the unit and it was in fact the thermostat. I took a chance and order the part (which was very cheap money-wise) and it did the trick. Within minutes it was puffing out smoke.

      Please try running Chauvet fog cleaning solution until no more smoke or steam comes out and it sounds like an air compressor. Then refill with fog fluid and see if results improve.

    on my fog machine that "thermo fuse" is actually the switch to say it's ready to pump fog. It's close circuit when heating up and it's open circuit when ready.

    I have a fog machine and when I turn it on it warms up but I don’t hear the pump moving or any noise happening. It’s warm but nothing happens. I took it apart and checked for any loose wires but I’m a 17 year old girl idk anything about these machines I just want it to work for a Halloween party 😭

      If you're not sure what you're doing, be very careful when you open it up. Best not to touch anything inside while it is plugged in. I assume there is a controller somewhere with a button to make the fog? Does it have a light that comes on when the machine is heated up and ready? Is the light working?

    Aw, this won't be the same as a bug fogger, would it

      I'm not sure, I've never used a bug fogger to be honest. I'd imagine they're somewhat similar in design though since they seem to fundamentally do more or less the same thing.

      Hey Heather - sorry I don't have any experience with the newer models. This one has been so great and reliable over the last 10-15 years that I haven't had the need to buy a new one.

    I bought a fog machine from someone, supposed to be new, its a 1000 watt, same remote as yours, it heats up, all lights come on, and it kicks on, you can hear it running, but its not sucking the fog juice through the hose!? :( should I take it apart and try to clean it, or get my money back!? (Would rather fix it! lol, my kids are excited for their halloween party this year, our new prop! )

      Kelli Quincy - couple quick questions. Do you have a multimeter, and do you feel comfortable taking a pump apart? If you have a video of it, that would help. Start by checking the hose in the fluid to make sure the filter screen isn't clogged with debris. If that isn't it, I'd suspect the pump is seized and needs to be disassembled and cleaned.

      i took the cover off so i could check the tube, it doesnt looked clogged, the pump does come on, just isnt pulling it through, how do i send a video of what it is doing to you?

      I just seen the year on it as i was taking the cover off, its fairly new, Aug 2016 its a v-929 Maxi fogger

      Check the end of the tube - the part that is submerged in the fog fluid. There is typically a filter or screen attached. You can also try replacing the entire tube from the fluid to the pump with a similar diameter tube from a hardware store. Use zip ties to seal it on each side. If it works, the tube was the problem. If not, I'm guessing the pump needs to be disassembled and cleaned.
