This is among the most underrated songs by any significant artist. It isn't one of his biggest hits, but for me it's his very best song. And he had a lot of great songs.

Huge in Britain in the 70’s.
Saw him at Hammersmith odeon in 76? 77? Can’t remember but his songs are iconic.
I’m just sparking up a joint after hearing that!
    Cheers.

Our son used to sit in the bath when he was a baby and as soon as Bob came on, he would start smiling and nod his head to it. He's way too cool to do it now, but something in Bob's vibe just makes your head nod and brings a smile to your face. 😍

I got turned onto Bob Marley while I was in high school around 1977. None of my other friends listened to this kind of stuff. It made me all the sadder when Bob passed away in 1981. listening to his stuff brings back good memories.

The story goes, he wrote this song (and supposedly also his song Turn Your Lights Down Low) for Cindy Breakspeare (Miss World 1976) whom Bob had been trying to win over for 3 years (while still married to his wife Rita) before she finally became his mistress - and subsequently became the mother of their son, Damian.

Damn you guys are totally cracking me up. That is hilarious. But yeah man I've been a huge Bob Marley fan since high school and I've got all his albums. It's fascinating to see how much he in the Wailers evolved over the years. Every album is different than the one before and yet it's always unmistakably Bob Marley. I absolutely love his phrasing but I love everybody in the band too, they were so tight.

When I was 17, we traveled with three friends from Barcelona to Ibiza, with the ferry, we had two Vespa scooters to move around the island. In those days Marley was the top, there were no walkmans and today's technology but in all the beach bars and terraces Marley flooded him with his reage hits. Is this love, redemption song, waiting in vain, no woman no cry. All mixed with the last traces of hippies made for a vacation to remember for a lifetime.
Listening to Marley everything lights up and the sun shines brighter.
    Great choose ❤

    Love all great Jamaican musics..
Maybe someday give Gregory Issacs “Soon Forward” a try..?
    Maybe Desmond Dekker “The Israelites”..
Or for some really old school sounds, maybe check out Niney The Observer “Blood and Fire”, or The Ethiopians “Free Man”.

I can't tell you how much I love Marley. It's a profound love. After rock concerts, usually Phish, when I was young, we would go back to the parking lot and listen to a Marley bootleg cassette from a show in Germany in 1980. It was perfect on a sweaty, summer night around midnight. We would sit and listen and smoke cigarettes and wait for the traffic to thin out.

Asia you are right. You can put your feet up to this cool music and comfortably enjoy a drink. But... with reggae I just can't keep my legs still, I think you have to surrender to the sound and just move according to it and joy comes immediately ;-)) One of the few songs by B.M. that don't deal with racism and exclusion is sometimes good, what would life be without joy and hope.Bob Marley is great, I love this kind of music and he was the greatest of his genre.
