he literally climbed the seats to where I was sitting and shredded a song right in my face, I was near the back of the concert hall too. He climbed a fair way.
Buddy is simply the most amazing Blues singer, guitarist and performer! He is a gift and treasure to us all and may he keep playing for us all for a long time yet. I've been blessed to see him perform at Toronto's Massey Hall twice. What a showman and total gentleman to all! Love and respect to Buddy always and forever.
I've seen Mr. Buddy Guy more times than I can recall. Y'all are absolutely right! His shows are absolutely amazing. You are in for the treat of your life if you can see him. So personal, so welcoming, his music gets down to your soul and stir something up that you may not have known that you had. He plays Jimmi Hendrix like noone that I've ever heard. HE IS ONE OF THE TRUELY GREAT PERFORMERS WHO DESERVES MORE CREDIT.
Musicians back then like Buddy Guy have respect and interaction with audience unlike the musicians we have now who worried too about money rather than entertainment
Met Buddy at his house 30+ years ago. My company provided services to him and his wife. He immediately invited me to Legends for Cajun shrimp the following Saturday. Cannot tell you what a pleasure it is to have known such an icon!
Buddy Guy, what more can I say. Influenced to many as well as myself. I absolutely love this guy, I mean it. He embodies not only the wonderful performers before him , but continues to be the conduit from the past to the present. To witness this icon of the blues with his respect to those who paved the way before him is admirable. I totally respect this man and his art.
I saw Buddy in July 2023 at Fiddlers Green awesome . One day before his 87th birthday. It was a bucket list . Finally made it. Been a fan since the 70s.
I have loved Buddy for so long.. I'm retired now but I used to tell my coworkers I would listen/buy recordings of Buddy scraping his fingernails on a chalkboard. For all of you true Buddy fans out there, get his book "When I Left Home."
Back in the late 70s Monday nights at the Kingston Mines was the place to be in Chcago. Muddy, Junior, Buddy, Jimmy Johnson, James Cotton, Sugar Blue, Willie Dixon. You never knew who was gonna be there. It was an open stage w/a revolving group of side players. One night Buddy was holding forth and he needed a bass player. A friend of mine yelled, "This guy plays the sht outta the bass" and pushes me forward. Buddy holds his hand out I grab it and he pulls me up on stage. He says, "Well blood where's your rig?" I was honest and told him I wasn't really a blues bass player I played bluegrass guitar and my friend was playing a joke. Buddy just broke into a big grin and ssid into the mic, "Somebody get this boy a bass." Before I could move somebody stuck an orange Rick in my hands and plugged it in. The strap was too long, it felt weird. Buddy just called out, "Everyday I Have The Blues in A!" And WHAM they just take off. I'm doing my best, but being nervous I was playing like a wannabe Chris Squire. A million notes and all treble. I was clueless. Here I am onstage with Erwin Helfer, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Johnson, Sugar Blue and Pinetop Perkins. Being a Doc Watson, Dan Crary guy I didn't really know who these guys were outside of Buddy. During the first number Buddy leans close to me with a big smile and says, "Boy, I know this ain't your thing, but if you don't put some bottom on that m'fcker I'm gonna yank that treble pot out and jamb it up yo' azz." Needless to say I complied with the man's request. lol
Yes, he can captivate the crowd all right he can talk, blink, blink, blink, the guitar, 40 years ago he was excellent musician. He turned into a blues comedian.
Buddy us the last of one of the most authentic art forms we have. He weaves a whole blues historical tapestry right in front you. He's probably the best showman I've ever seen.
I love you so much too I miss you girl can you believe it I need to be out there somewhere where I can see y'all I just miss you so much and thank you for telling me happy birthday I took that very heartedly sometimes it'll be me visiting you okay
You mean you could hear him all day joking stopping in the middle of a tune he’s a comedian blues musician talks too much but he used to be great awesome
Saw him live a few weeks ago, so close, we could actually touch him....Absolutely superb! Took my parents, one of the best nights we have ever had! Thank you.. :-)

Love Buddy Guy! He did an outdoor concert quite a few years ago in my hometown of Battle Creek, MIchigan. There was no stage, he was just playing in the street. I got closer to the front to see better, next thing I know he is coming over my way, and he pulls me over and extends his guitar out, and placed my hand on the strings and guided me to pick out some of the tune! This was his famous black and white polka dot guitar, and it was such a surprise and a thrill for me that night! Never will forget it!

There is no music now like this...
There's only 1 Buddy Guy.
Saw Buddy in 1990. Nobody works the audience like him. You don't go to the show to watch, you go to participate.
All that.
It's almost a religious experience.
he literally climbed the seats to where I was sitting and shredded a song right in my face, I was near the back of the concert hall too. He climbed a fair way.
