I'm running a Clifford 4v intake, Holley 600 CFM 4 barrel, Hooker Ceramic coated header, Harland Sharp Roller Rockers, Ported 240 head with 2.02 intake and 1.78 exhaust valves with 5 angle valve job, 9.84:1 Compression, Comp 280 Cam 309 CI short block with custom Diamond forged Pistons, Manley Forged Rods, steel crankshaft, aluminum flywheel , balanced within a gram and T18 4 speed trans and a Np 205 T case. I can't spin above 5600 rpm . I chassis dynoed at 309 RWHP @ 5400 and 421 RWTQ @ 3100 rpm and have a best 0-60 flat ground time of 7.6 sec. Leaving in 2nd gear And a 1/4 mile time of 15.47 @ 90.2 mph in a short box 1971 F100 4x4 with 3.55 gears & 31/10:50 / 15 AT tires and It's a 5443 lb pig. But it spins up quick and rolls out hard for what it is. Revs easily up there to 5600 easily once above 1800 rpm . But that's nowhere near 8000.
Wow thats pretty good. I think that mine was about that much with the nitrous. It got wrecked and I sold the drivetrain and now I have a 351 mustang. Its on my newer videos.
@@mechanicalking there's no way you were spinning a 300 inline 6 to 8000 or even 7000 rpm . The crankshaft and rods would definitely part ways from eachother and from the block. Spinning mine reliably to 5600 took lots of money and time. I've had more than a couple 300 / 4.9 inline 6 engines with stock crankshaft and rods come apart on me when I was running blow through Turbo set ups and spinning them above 5000 for anything longer than a 1/4 mile pass. It wasn't the boost . It's the rpm on stock crankshafts that did it

I haven't check out your other vids yet but it's getting me excited about my 86 sitting in the driveway being neglected for over a year. I just got my 85 f150 4.9 running and master cylinder to pedal rod snapped so I have to get a new rod that connects the pedal to the master witch sucks but I'm on the road to push 14 psi, boost from the small ecoboost 3.5 twins

Yeah stock cam on those poor engines are great for torque but over 4000rpm it falls on its face. Of all of them I've driven stock its faster to shift at 4000 than it is revving it all the way out

9.7 is pretty good! I got about 10.8 with my 1996 F-150 300. She was a reg cab long bed 4x4 Auto with just a flow master muffler that obviously didn’t add any power. I miss that truck but I always wished it was a 5 speed.
It would have a way better time with the right gearing. That was with 3.08:1 gears and 32" tires and if it had the m5od it would be even faster. My 1995 5.0 does an 8.2 second 0-60 stock with 3.55:1 gears.(it has the 5 speed) Its all about gearing.

thats cool for a 300 i6. my 351 will do 0-60 in just around 7.9 or so, but for a 300 that is very impressive . ive got 3.08 rear gears and only use 1st and 2nd from 0-85 mph. 4th i have had up to 120, but then i thought i seen a cop. lol
The 351 in my mustang is stock bottom end and ran a 10.8 in the 1/4 first pass. It failed on the second pass due to wrong ring gap. Its back together with a junkyard bottom end and I just did a minute long 4th gear burnout and all is good. If somebody is making 700+hp at the crank with a stock bottom end 300 6 and it holds together I would definitely love to see it.

I have a 300 for sale bord out 60 over, in super light pistons, 456 lift cam,head milled and ported heavier crank will take 100 shot nitrous, Offinhouser intake, holly 450,balanced. 4000 in it will take 2000.
Nice I spray mine with a 200 shot it's ported till the water jackets are just about to let go, comp 268 with edelbrock500(POS) duraspark 2 offy intake with efi manifolds. I have 2000 in it. I heard these motors get about the same mileage pulling a trailer even if theres no trailer, unlike the v8 5.0l but at the end of the day the i6 gets better mileage pulling a trailer or pushing a plow
I pull a 24ft pontoon with my 86 f150 with a big roof not a lot of weight but a ton of resistance like pulling a parachute I've had bigger trucks pull my boat so far nothing has pulled it as easy as mine at some points I was passing other vehicles going 75mph obviously going up a hill it will be slower but it does not strain and it hardly affects my milage 302 efi 3:55 c6 4 speed

Some one plz tell this joker it’s not possible to get the rpm up to 8,000. The max stock cam stops a 5200rpm n the aftermarket cams stops at 6,000rpm for the 300 straight 6. U would have valve float after that n ur engine would have thrown a rod by then. Not to mention the c6 transmission could handle it but the stock torque converter wouldn’t been able to handle that type of abuse.
8,000 Might be exaggerating but 6? You're funny, Cam's don't stop they just don't flow as well. Have you even seen an inline 6 con rod? They are forged so probably not. And I'm running 20° btdc initial timing, plus with the mechanical advance and vacuum advance its probably around 50° so no. Have a great day
I have built 42 of these motors already n 7 of them was for race tracks so yes I know about these engines inside n out. Plus I drive one every day of the week with a t19 manual transmission. N the highest cam u can get n those is a 268. N stock cam is 232/234.

I don't trust you at all actually I trust my 2 digital tachometers is that read 6200 one of which was a timing light. Modified engines can turn faster than non modified engines. My friends 88 F150 turns 5000
Yes and no. Yes, it's similar because someone has done three 2 barrel Weber side drafts. No because the only carbs that would work somewhat are giant harley carbs.
Its got a lot of porting, the cam, the head shaved and timing is advanced 7 degrees from factory so with the ignition box I'm using it goes to 28° advance

My 95 5.0 5 speed tows my race car at 85mph but I think I would need to stay in 4th with an enclosed because of the wind
