I love cars and know quite a bit about modern engines, but knew very little about the history of its innovation and how we got here. Thanks for sharing!

Great job, the video was very interesting.
I think that the role of government regulation and mandates is often understated in driving these types of innovations. Even before the Paris agreement, the EPA and CARB in the USA has been pushing emissions and fuel economy standards that have forced vehicle manufacturers to improve. I wonder if we would have seen as radical improvements in fuel economy and emissions if it were not for these government mandates, if the price of fuel alone would have been enough to drive the same innovation.

I too feel that Hydrogen fuel cells could be the future. However, there is innovation in the field of alternative fuels that could be used in the existing ICE with net zero carbon emission. If that technology picks up and we find a way to manufacture that at a cheaper cost, it could change the way we predict the future.

I wonder how 3D printing will affect innovation in the commercial vehicle engine, if at all. I am hoping that by the time I'm on to my next vehicle EV will be on par price wise to easily justify the cost as that is the main inhibiting factor for me to enter the market.

Hmm interesting. Based on this info, its good to know that EVs are becoming less niche, and more mainstay.
Now we just need more universal charging stations😅
