- A quick return mechanism is an apparatus to produce a reciprocating motion in which the time taken for travel in one direction is less than in the other. It is driven by a circular motion source and uses a system of links and sliding joints.
Quick return is a common feature of tools in which the action is performed in only one direction of the stroke, such as shapers and powered saws, because it allows less time to be spent on returning the tool to its initial position. - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน

Thanks for this. I watched it, got it, closed it, then came back to like the vid after realising I'd just watched something where the focus was on conveying understanding to viewers, not views, popularity and the usual YT wankfest. It was no longer than it needed to be, got straight into the simple effective explaination and left me knowing something I didn't 45 seconds earlier. Thankyou. This motion is called a Whitworth motion. Metal shaping machines are are a use for it.

I was confused why it would return quicker at first but then I realized its because of how far away the square is from the point where the bottom vertical bar rotates
A little movement at the bottom equals a lot of movement at the top

Oh yeah. I was also really confused. I thought this shouldn't be able to work because everything seems to be symmetrical.
And it is left-right symmetrical, but not up-down symmetrical. The green square on the red wheel pushes the purple war differently on the top half of the wheel than on the bottom half of the wheel.

No, both are use for different purposes... Solidwork mostly use for mechanical models.

In this method we produce electricity in little amount And it's possible for some medium large scale if yes please reply
As per my opinion, we not producer electricity using this mechanism...if we use steam energy to move slider bar, we have to make some changes in mechanism.
