    GTD : Any task that takes under 2 minutes do now.
    Any task that requires more than “1” step is a Project.
    Great video btw!
    Followed along and setup Tick Tick on Mac.
    Thanks for the clear and concise instruction and review.

    Dude. You have a gift. I have watched so many TH-cam videos on setup for GTD. Yours is so clear and easy to follow. I was considering changing from Things 3 to Tick Tick. Not only did you clearly show how to setup GTD in TickTick, but you demonstrated most of the major features of TickTick. Fantastic! Subscribed. You haven't even read GTD, and your explanations are far superior than anything else I've seen lol. Keep up the great work!

      Thanks Stephen, your comment really made my day. I really enjoy Things 3 too. My productivity system keeps evolving as my needs do, but anytime I overthink it doesn't go well. Good luck to you 👍

      I agree with you @siishc46! I've watched hours of GTD throughout my adult life... Everyone seems to know the core concepts, but this is probably the only time I've seen someone actually show how to use GTD. Great job Dave!

    Just curious. I'm wondering why you use lists for contexts and tags for projects. It feels counter intuitive as I've always done it the other way round. Great video though...

    You're pretty close to the GTD method, Dave. Things to explore further might be the way that projects are managed (a project is anything that requires more than one task) and the daily review of projects creating the individual tasks that are then assigned to the different categories for execution. That might be too much overhead for your approach. Another idea in GTD is the category "Easy/I'm tired" so you jump into these tasks when you are tired and don't have the energy for something more difficult (eg reading a web page you have saved).

    • @dave-swift
      @dave-swift  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Greg! Good to hear from someone who knows the proper method!
      I think the way I manage projects is pretty similar, just through tags. Adding a tag for “Easy” is a great idea!
      My nightly processing is just of the inbox - for me that is typically how tasks are added to the projects, but I do a weekly review as well that I didn’t mention in the video.

    So did you find that using a tool like Clickup was just too cumbersome as a solopreneur? I like the way everything is simplified and really streamlined in the method you demonstrated. I feel like I'm still searching for a sweet spot. Glad you found something that works for you!

      We still have ClickUp for agency work! It’s great but I hope they stop adding features and just make it super fast :)

    Here's a second question: it also relates to voice input. (Note: I know you specified that this video was focused on the Mac desktop interface. This question however is about the phone app interface.)
    Initially I thought the quick add feature in both todoist and tick tick was virtually the same. But no, todoist seems far better in this feature because you can add multiple quick add tasks by voice without having to close the interface each time. With todoist you can speak the task hit enter but the quick add interface stays open so you can add successive tasks in one series. But with tick tick when you use Quick add, you similarly can use voice typing, but when you hit enter, the whole quick add interface goes away. Making successive task entry really difficult. You have to activate the quick add shortcut again, and each time you want to add a new task.

    GTD is good, I have used it on & off over the last 6 years. (It's ok to not be drivenly keen all the time). I had just a whiteboard session with myself, putting GTD and Scrumban as doing together. GTD review and Sprint Retrospective are the same, Sprint Review will help too.

    Hi I'm trying to decide between todoist and tick tick and one thing I don't understand how to do with tick tick is create a note. Where in the interface are notes, is there a quick add ability to create a note? And is there any way to set the input method as voice/ speech to text?

    • @73cidalia
      @73cidalia ปีที่แล้ว

      Notes are housed in a List (or Lists). You create a notes list the same way you create a task list, but choose the option to make the list a note list and not a task list.

    • @JohnChvatalGSTV
      @JohnChvatalGSTV 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dave-swift no issue. I just set TickTick up today. I’m wondering if I could use TickTick for assigning client tasks?
      I’m happy with Dubsado for inbound leads, scheduling, billing, contracts etc. It’s weak on managing tasks though.
      I like TickTick’s tight integration with Siri/Reminders, Gmail, and Spark Mail. I tend to already get client requests through email so adding it quickly to TickTick is super convenient. I think it might make sense for clients to see their assigned project tasks in an app rather than email especially if there are a lot of them. One off tasks is better through email. I like to be as flexible as possible without causing a headache for myself.
      Since I don’t need a full blown CRM for sales leads, I think I can get by with TickTick and Spark Mail. I have been using Trello.
      The nice thing about Dubsado is it’s easy to find any email from the client. So there is some syncing going on between the services. This would whittle things down to two services where I have client data.
