SOLI DEO GLORIA! - เพลง
Unbelievable how Cort is still being looked down on by so many. They build high-end instruments for other brands for decades and their own products are amazing. I play a Cort A5 Ultra Ash wich instantly became my No1 bass. Punches WAY above its price.
I play a AD810 steel string acoustic ( among others) made in Indonesia -90ish! Almost as wellsounding as my Taylor 110 with same setup, i payed 29$ just string&saddled it and off we went in the Stirrup. 😂
I own this guitar and can confirm it’s a beautiful instrument. My first Evertune bridge and all the other specs I was looking for. It plays really well and looks amazing. Very happy with this overall 👍🏻
I wished it had a Floyd Rose....😢
@@Melodias102 evertune is so much better for metal
I love this channel, really great information and just positive vibes every time. God Bless
I really like Cort tbh. I've had one of their PRS-style guitars they used to make for well over a decade now, and it's never had any issues.
Great review!
Hey Darrell! Long time watcher, first time commenter. Just checked out this video and fell in love with the guitar! Found a great deal on reverb for one of the evertune models and just pulled the trigger. Thanks for showing this one, I can't wait to get mine!
Thinking about getting one, lemme know how it is.
@@aaronmatthis7824 Yeah definitely!
I also have one on the way now too - likely the same shop on Reverb that had a bunch at like half off. Seems like crazy specs for that little
@@IAmTheIsland Yeah that could be a possibility. I bought mine from a shop called The Gator Tone, they did have a handful of them marked down.
@@aTortoiseWest Yup, same shop! I grabbed a B-stock one for about 675$ before tax. Pretty fun guitar thus far.
I saw this guitar ad in the market place on Facebook, but I don't take this seriously. After this video I change my mind. Thank you Dan! Merry Christmas.
I had some doubts about Cort, but a year ago I bought for my nephew a X series in a 2nd hand market place.
It was a nice surprise to notice how really good Cort build guitars, even in an entry level. After a pick ups upgrade and polishing the frets the guitar became in a real shredding machine.
I have to say: Cort really rocks.
They make PRS SE line and many other quality brands. I've always heard good things about their own brand as well. They don't seem as prevalent and available in the States as many other brands though unfortunately
Cort always does a good job. They made every 'foreign' guitar til China and Indonesia started making them. I have no problems with Chinese nor Indonesian luthiers but Cort made some of the best Epiphone stuff out there. I always check out a Cort if I see one for sale. 🤘🏼
Cort is South Korean owned, but the majority of its production is in Indonesia, with factories in China and Vietnam as well. Their head office and R & D is in South Korea. Not sure how much guitar manufacturing they do there now. There were a couple of controversial plant closings about 15 years ago that, I believe, led to some labour bad blood and some legal issues. The majority of their guitar production is via their Cor-Tek subsidiary that makes guitars for other large brands, like PRE's SE line, some Ibanez and Squier models, etc. Most of that is in Indonesia.
@@seanbaines you're 100% correct. I'm an old guitar playin' dork who's 1st 'real' guitar was a new Korean Cort made 1989 Epiphone Sheraton. I bought it brand new at Guitar Center and its unfortunately long gone. 😔
I still own and play a Conklin 7 string made in the Cort factory in 98, that I also bought new.
All I'm saying is it doesn't have to be made in the US to be a quality instrument. The Asian companies make some dope stuff and Cort's long history of solid manufacturing makes it obvious that when they opened factories in Indonesia, they had the staff and knowledge to train the new factories. My only gripe is the Indonesian and Chinese luthiers and linemen don't get paid enough for the quality guitars they make. I'd rather spend $1,000 on a LTD, Cort or a Chinese Ibanez than 3 grand on a Gibson or American Fender. 🤘🏼
Chinese, yes, there is a problem.
Indonesia, Korea, Japan? Nah, all good.
I think you'll find that most if not all Indonesian made guitars are Cort based and probably a lot of Chinese made too. That middle position clean sounds feckin' good!
I don't think Cort makes Epiphone anymore, I believe WMIC makes them these days. Cort makes the more expensive Squiers tho, like Classic Vibe which are well regarded for their value
Cort makes excellent instruments. I have 3. One says PRS, one says Squire, and one says Laguna on the headstock, but they're all Corts. Now i want want one that actually says Cort on it!
True! Philip McKnight has an awesome video on manufacturers/ghost builders.
I bought a Cort G300 Pro last year, I find the quality to be impeccable. My Cort G300 is far superior to my Fender Player Stratocaster for example.
Hi Steven. I have one , the cheapest one you can get from Cort: The G110. What to say , for the price i have paid it play nice a smoothly i love it. I have several guitars and this is one of my favorite
@@nitbot I have a Laguna that was made in the Cort factory. Aside from a slightly odd headstock, everything about this guitar is top notch. The shape the carve the the finish all gorgeous. The routs are super clean the neck joint tight and flat. No cracks at the edge of the neck pocket. Cheapish hardware was its only draw back. But two Dimarzio Super Distortions some mojotone pots and wire, a Dunlop switch and some open gear locking Hipshots and this thing is off the hook! The only thing left to do is the bridge.
@@tommyrayraypic4906 Yeah, i have 14 guitars and basses and i love my cheap stuff every bit as much as i do my pricier stuff. I dont have anythig "expensive". 1,300 is my highest piece. 50 bucks is my lowest! Lol
Cort X series is my first Guitar I bought and I like the neck construction feel so comfy 🤘🏻
Finalmente un video dove riesco a vedere lo spessore del manico!! GRAZIE!!!
I like it ...I just wish it had some inlays
Cort or rather Cor-Tek, which is their subsidiary, pretty much manufactures most mid-budget guitars on the market.
Ibanez Premium, PRS SE, ESP/ LTD, Schecter, Yamaha, Squier etc. etc.. pretty much all of them are build by Cor-Tek factories in Indonesia.
The parent company is actually from S.Korea and is scummy af. They were under investigation for corruption charges, mistreatment of workers, numerous violations of Korean labour laws, closed down 2 of their Koreans factories and laid off hundreds of workers without prior notice.
It is implied that they bribed a bunch of judges in the Supreme Court of S. Korea and that's how they got away with relatively light sentences for all the things they were accused.
Not sure if they continue these buisness practices in Indonesia but I wouldn't be surprised.
I’m glad to see that Cort can do a full violin carve…. Considering that they make the prs Se models….
I’d absolutely love to see full carve tops on the Se models. Doubt it will happen, though.
Great review bud. Beautiful guitar. I have the Cort KX507 Multiscale and it's an excellent guitar. Especially since I bought it before the inflation hit. I switched my pots to CTS because the stock ones were too loose feeling. Other than that it's top notch.
I just ordered the Duality II. REALLY looking forward to it.
great review. i followed the link in description and found the X500 Menace, sweet! no prices though...
Have had a cort SG2800 for 20 years and love it
So many well known import guitar brands are just Cort's that they've spec'd to their liking. They make ridiculously awesome guitars.
That first riff has a spot in it that sounds identical to a riff my band played back in the early 2000s.
Nice review
The style of music it's made for isn't me, but it's stunning. It's brighter than something like an 80s HM Strat (the closest thing to this I've ever had), and the clean tones sounded great. Great guitar, great review.
Love your reviews. But what happened to the one-minute solo?
I've never noticed a benefit of full size pots over minis. I build pedals and always use minis, never had a problem from alpha pots.
You're correct. Size of pot doesn't impact quality.
Yeah... he might think "size matter"...
I'm starting to think that's a bye gone era. The industry ability to build small and cheap electronics has changed a lot. Only thing I like more about CTS pots is they generally seem to be tighter and smoother. They stay where i put them.
This is true. The quality is what’s important.
You do have better control with larger potentiometers but it’s something guitarists adapt to
I never knew this was a thing haha
Hi Darrell, I noticed in your review of the Cory Blackwood that you did a section playing a cut capo and killing it I might add; do you have any lessons in using a cut capo available? I love the sound it creates. Thanks for any help
Cort always the best brand for price and performance. CORT rocks guitar world
I would absolutely get one of these
I have my first guitar, my 15 year old blacked out Cort by my side as I'm typing this comment. I'm kinda biased, but Cort is awesome. So easy to play, despite it being a cheap old guitar. The beast you have must be on a different league!
holy chit. I'm getting one.
What a great track mate!!had a bit of death vibe to the melody hope ya bring narcotic wasteland to Australia mate 🙏👊
EVERTUNE RULES!
It makes vibrato playing more safe, becaues you can vibrato way more aggressively wihtout ever going out of tune. Love it!
Lets say there is no 5 piece neck ... Would the evertune be able to stay in tune with a non roasted single piece neck?
I have a cort garage 1 and i love it
Still got my KX Custom, great great axe!
My first electric guitar was a CORT CR50 indonesian made and its really great for its price. If you replace the pickups, it will be up there wiht some premium guitars.
I used to turn my nose up when I saw a Cort back in the '80's. Wow they have come a long way! I've got to look at this one. Thanks Darrel 🎸🎸
That new logo, while plain, is a significant improvement over the silly, scripty, saw-it-on-a-70s-T-shirt logo they recently used.
Egad. I just checked their website, and they're still using that hideous loopy logo on everything except these new metal-oriented guitars. Man, it looks cheesy.
I love your sound always , no matter if you are playing an Ibanez or Cort❤❤❤
I do watch and love Darrell's videos for many years. Nevertheless, his obsession with larger pots fills many of the great videos. Every electronic expert could tell you that it is NOT always the "size that matters", it is the quality.
Hal sensors are way better than pots anyway, their sizes are much smaller but if we stick with traditional pots, the quality matters, size is secondary. Same as pickups, a large pickup is not necessarily better compared to a smaller one...
Seems like an OCD kind of thing at this point
Cort is great for the money with basses too. Full Bartolini eq and pickups + flame maple veneer top for $350 used or so. Ibanez Indonesian stuff and Squier Indonesian stuff is made in their factory
It's a neverending quest until I get that upgrade so maybe begin with Veryga if it's not up in smoke, but having a tremolo handle would be good for me too - i'm not too tired to using tune app, but an an ensemble clearly would have some problems with it so trust that shop owner you found at the Christmas village making cappuccino or latte for his customers. Mostly want to be like that artist and sound like him. Can do it yourself, but it has only an education value of Made It yourself.
I'm not surprised Corr has been consistently making good guitars for almost 20 years. They're brutally under-rated.
Those contours on the body reminds me very much of some of Schecter's guitars. Namely the Omen and Damien line.
How do you get Evertune to work with alternate tunings?
I'm planing to purchase this guitar for metal stuff, but this means I want to use it in all different alterante tunings, from B to D. Depending on the covers I want to play, I might go from B to C, C# and D within a time range of 2 hours, so I'm keen to know how Evertune will react to these tuning changes.
Darrell, I noticed that you opened the control cavity cover with a screwdriver. Another TH-camr suggested using a small, cheap auto body dent puller to grab things like that cover easily and without damage to anything. Just in case it helps.
O ring pick
Do you have any other reviews on other Cort models?
In Ecuador Cort is the best you can buy for guitars and basses things like the x500 or x300 are really good
How Schecter of Cort to build a model like that
Looks great. Wish I could find a Neil Zaza model Cort
Cort makes some badass guitars
This is already the most loaded Cort I’ve ever seen. I would actually play this Cort
I would love to have this, not a fan of bolt ons, Nazgul Sentients are my favorite set, everything looks great
So if i want to tune between standard/flat or drop D i have to adjust the springs with the allen key? Im about to buy this guitar, but I like to use a lotnof different tunings and im concerned that this might be a drawback for me
Rock on
I want a guitar with this look and feel (finish, color, 24 SS frets) but with FR bridge (not SE!). :( Any recomendations? Thx!
I have this guitar ! 🔥🔥🔥
man that is a nice guitar, i wonder if they make a hipshot or floyd version
Great metall axe with great specs for this price
I want one!!!!!
Great job
I had cr280 its was amazing
Sad I sold it
Elle ressemble à une SOLAR avec les mêmes specs. Ça doit être fait dans la même usine de production
It's nice like a tuxedo.
Do small pots ruin your pedals?
I thought that ash is supposed to be a light wood? Am I mistaken?
No surprise, Cort produces for PRS in Indonesia.
And Fender, Ibanez, LTD, etc. Almost all Made in Indonesia are made in Cor-Tek factories.
I have the x250 and it's really good for the price
Even has emg pickups
Though the bridge could be a bit better
thats a bargain, used?
This guitar model is beautiful. I'm a little different from other people, I don't like Strato, that's why I liked this model so much and I also prefer the Supertrato
Woo!
"Cort is the future" _Laureano, Beto.
Barra Music. Rio de Janeiro-Brasil
Owned a Solar Evertune. They do not stay in tune for ten years. I put one in storage for about 2 years and it was well out of tune. I don't care what they say, it would go out of tune after a couple of months and need retuning.
I'm putting an Evertune & Floyd Rose on my acoustic, and a reverse headstock...
Is it playable whit small hands?
Dime size pots is one thing, that boxy switch over a Switchcraft is just a shame.
Evertune... didn't expect to Cort😳😳😳
wow
Cort makes great guitars and basses at reasonable prices, you have reviewed several on them!
Impressive. Can you imagine a guitar with an evertune AND true temperament frets????🤯
That already exists, VGS Guitars made those
@Darrell Braun Guitar check out Aio Wolf guitars there WLP series are very nice and very pretty finishes 😊
My Corts are Corts and my Jackson and PRS SE are also corts xd
the evertune bridge is great for sure but its also overpriced and overhyped just because a quality fixed bridge is most likely not causing any string tuning problems at all, a tremolo system is a different story..it also makes every guitar with it very pricey..but this guitar is priced surprisingly well with "just" 1K for all the amazing specs and pickups beside the evertune bridge, so maybe its worth a try if you want y´to check out if the evertune stuff is worth its money. cheers 🎸🎸
The evertune is an interesting gadget, and may be good for people who dont actually know anything, technically, about their guitars, but im all set! I dont have any tuning issues with any of my guitars. Not even my stock Fender style trems. When i pick up one of my guitars and a string is a little sharp or flat, i tune it. No need for fancy fixes. I feel like the evertune is going to widen the gap between players and technical knowaladge of their instruments.
@@stevenpipes1555 👍👍
No it isn't for Ardenweald Winter Queen.
@@Netryon amazing comment 🙈
Darrell, you need to wise up on pot size. Bigger pots does not mean better quality. I've been in electronics for 40 years and some miniature pots I've seen will blow you away. Don't get swayed by certain brands either. Are the high end guitar pots used in the medical, space or military sectors? Take care man.
i always tell you...always check Cort, very fine instruments,,,and easy on the wallet
Cort made a lot of guitars for different companies with different names
Cort for the win! I own an LP Cort and honestly, I was looking at buying a Gibson LP and the Cort is better in every way to most Gibsons I have seen.
Cost? Don’t see it on their site, just the list of dealers.
Cort stuff is excellent.
i've seen a lot of YT guitar vids in the last couple of years where a guitar will be super high end everything but small pot size. which the YTer points out as odd. i suspect that "modern" mini pot tech makes them highly durable when compared to the same size pot 10 or 20 years ago. what i'm saying is i think at this point the smaller pot, particularly in a high end guitar, is no real indicator in performance and longevity.
the only thing i have to base that on is the HUGE advancements in guitar technology and quality in the last 10 or even 5 years, so i could be completely wrong.
Where's the 1min solo?
I think you forget about....
Luminlay Side Dots
Someone help me understand why dime sized pots are bad. A pot is a variable resistor, as you turn the knob the resistance is proportional to the position. I don't see how small vs large is a bad thing, and small doesn't mean it's not of good quality. Larger pots and the control cavity needs to be larger. Would you have noticed if you never popped the back off and took a look? That might be the topic of another video.
Can you have dime size 500k pots?
Yes
The day that evertune create a evertune tremolo bridge , they will be rule the world of guitar bridges
Even if it is a more expressive than a strat 2 point tremolo floating but not more expressive than a floyd rose ,i will prefer the hipothetical evertune floating bridge
My apologies if this is a stupid question as I know almost nothing about this kinda thing but here goes:
Could you just buy full sized pots and have them fitted or would such a thing be impractical in terms of costs or some other factors that I in my ignorance know nothing about?
Hopefully someone realises its a genuine question.
😃
LOVE a guitar I don't have to tune up between takes!

Hey man I need your help I have tried to write to you in anyway I could with no luck, Etsy Facebook and Instagram please let me know if you have an email or anything I can do it's very important and urgent. Live your stuff!
Can you do a video on how you setup your evertune? They are intimidating to work with for people coming from standard bridged
I don't get the obsession with full sized pots.
Looks like ltd and prs had a baby.
It's a nice guitar but it's priced like a prestige brand. I cant see why someone would bay $1400 for this, when that same price point gives them so many options.
no prestigious brand offers a premium instrument for 1400
There is absolutely no difference in functionality and QC between dime size and quarter size pots. Your mind is stuck in the 50's mentality when pots were manufactured for Scale size at that present time. Pushpull pots are dime size, so no one makes them quarter size. It's only Esthetique in your mind.
Cort? The brand that mistreated their employees so bad that one of them lit himself on fire?
Regular size or mini pots have no difference in sound, your pot snob.😉
Can you have dime size 500k pots?
