Jet Guitars have been around for a few years now and I was very impressed by the first batch i reviewed back in 2021 but how good are jet guitars in 2024? The world of budget guitars has got more competitive and delivery from Asia has become problematic so can Jet Guitars still beat a Harley Benton or Squier in terms of Value for Money? Watch this BEFORE you buy a new budget guitar.
In this video i review the Jet guitars JT-300, JT-350 RLC, JJ-350 and JS-800.

I recently bought a JS300 and after taking the nut off, there were 2 slot type holes in the bottom of the nut, which made me suspicious wether or not its really bone. BUT! I got the metalic gold and its beautiful! and after installing locking tuners, a hand crafted bone nut made by yours truly, new pickups and a proper set up. WOW! it's really good. The set up from the factory was decent. The frets were shiny and not sharp. Better then other more expensive guitars I've had. It had one high fret (15) that was easily leveled and re crowned. It comes with a big block and the bridge looks very familiar and works perfectly and it is floating. I was so impressed, that I bought a JS400 in black and Its beautiful too. Well done Jet Guitars!!!!!

I have JJ350, and it was so great to see that you liked it too! I agree with everything that was said; very comfortable, great sounding, special guitar. I did small change though, changed knobs to the shiny steel ones. Looks amazing next to the humbucker covers! And by the way this guitar weights 2,8 kg/6 lbs. So it is very light. Ceramic magnets can be fine in pickups if they’re thoughtfully designed. The DiMarzio Super Distortion, the Duncan Custom (SH-5), most of the stuff from Railhammer, there’s loads of great ceramic designs. I like the offset guitar the best, keep that one around.

I had a JS300 & a JS400. The difference in pick ups and neck join (3 single coils and neck plate vs HSS and recessed bolts and shaped heel) for very little difference in money (both under £200) meant I kept the JS400 and passed on the JS300. Both were great guitars, but I preferred the JS400.

JJ 350, rout out the upper end and put the switch where it should be in the first place.
Then you need to have a new pick guard made.
I do not understand why people feel that they need to continue to make the mistakes that Leo Fender made. IT IS OKAY TO PLACE THE SWITCH OUT OF THE WAY!!

The JJ is the one for sure! It seems to have that pizzazz that the other ones are maybe missing a little bit. I can see why Jet may want a T and S style to be a part of their line up (especially at that price point), but I feel like their soul is really in the offset models. In the coming years I can see them turning into a really cool mid-priced offset-specialist brand that offer all the crazy configurations one can think of!

I would go for the JT-300, nothing wrong with a pink Tele, also can swap pickups (the neck sounded a bit weak), toggle switch & pots. Playability (neck & frets mainly) is key.
I thought the JJ-350 was a bit too heavy on the low end, perhaps a little too dark as I listened on this end. I’m listening on my JBL bluetooth speaker, not the greatest but much better than my phone speaker. However it’s difficult to argue when you’re there to listen to the response and we’re not…!
The Tele custom model was a disappointment (at least from what I could hear), the neck humbucker sounded muddy. Nice in the middle position and bridge… but then again, not better than the pink Tele style.
I thought the Strat model sounded the best. I'm not a fan of relics but the pickup combination sounded fantastic. I thought the neck pickup sounded almost “telecastery bridge” and stood out well on its own. Also, the absence of a tone circuit gives me pause.
Again, my choices would be the JT-300 (a bargain at that price and because of it, just perfect for modding) or the most expensive 2 pickup S-style (and I might even try to add a master tone circuit, just for the hell of it).
    Cheers!

These really look and sound gorgeous overall! But with problems like rust on the jack, fresh out of the box, they may still have a proper packing problem. I’ll keep my 1999 Fender Strat. I just can’t tell you what I paid for it new, it was so little. You’d be upset, because it was so cheap compared to now. Everything’s so ridiculous these days, price wise, you can’t buy a new Fender without getting a mortgage or something. Plus, this one was customized with a split humbucker at the bridge (made by a great old company) and my luthier did this little trick he knows to silence the hum from the other two plain old 1999 Fender Alnico single coils. I put money into this guitar long ago, and you should be prepared to do the same with any budget guitar.
PS - get to know a good luthier. There are so many times when he or she can be your best friend! And I love that Jazzmaster style ax! But they can keep relic jobs. If I wear the paint off the body, that’s one thing. I don’t need someone at the factory with a belt sander to do it!

    • @crunchyfrog555
      @crunchyfrog555 หลายเดือนก่อน

Rust on the jack is unlikely to be a problem with packing unless there's clear evidence of it getting in there. Most likely to be the big Achilles' Heel of Chinese manufacture - that of poor metallurgy. Chinese metals ain't great due to societal reasons.
But this is small potatoes anyway as that's an easy fix.

JET offers good guitars but there are some corners cut to offer them at low price.
Last year I bought a JET JS-500, had to go over the fret edges which unfortunately is common for quite a few cheaper guitars and knock one fret back to it’s place.
The major issue I found after just 2 weeks was the 2 point trem, the knife edges are really soft, they where worn down enough for them to cause problems, so ended up replacing the trem.

I have the JT 300 in lake placid blue 😍😍 £180. Upgraded the pups for £80 (tonerider alnico 2 blues). Bought a premium pre-wired tele wiring harness of ebay, cts pots, orange caps, treble bleed etc (£50). Set of vanson locking tuners £35. A friend of a friend wired and set it up to perfection for me for £50. £395 total. Looks killer, plays amazing, holds tune forever and sounds epic(really impressed with the tonerider pups, my first set, would highly recommend these tele pups). These guitars are unbelievable value and epic modding platforms. I prefer the jet neck to my player series tele, slightly less chunky in the hand and with the rolled fretboard it feels nicer in the hand. Buy one of these spend 2-300 on upgrades, get it set up and you have an amazing guitar. No need to buy American anymore with the fit, finish and build quality of brands like Jet and Sire for the price. Breaks my heart to say this as a Fender fan boy but..... You can get a lot more value for your money from Jet and Sire. I can't see myself buying anymore Fenders as I couldn’t justify the money when I can buy much better for much less.

Actually, that silica gel on the neck for moisture during shipping is a pretty good idea.

Those silica packs in a cardboard box are completely saturated with water vapor within 30 minutes.

@@jimshorts6751 Not quite, show me your science? it's all down to how and where the guitar box was stored and shipped, and guess what, No silica Gel is much worse than having a couple of packs. Even better if it's in a hard case!

If it's the one you like best, keep the JM style guitar. I've got an early JS 300 and the it's got a better neck than my MIM tele.

Sorry to disappoint, I'm always a fan of an offset but that Keith Richards-style tele... there's just something magical about dark in the bass position and bright in the treble, and that does it very well.

Got a JT 350 after seeing @stevecassidyguitar review and must say they are really really nice. I'd love to get a JS 300 or greater but sadly hardly any shops in Germany have them to try out.
The only negative I see is the head stock logo. 80's NY Subway graffiti tag is not my thing on such traditional guitars.

Hi Andy, great review. I love the JJ350 but it's way beyond my budget. I'm trying to decide between
    Harley Benton JA60,
    Artist Grungemaster,
    Squier sonic mustang HH.
Like you, I love block inlays, but I'm not sure if I'd prefer the humbuckers on the mustang. I play mainly power chords, would the P90's be OK for power chords? Is it worth sacrificing the block inlays for humbuckers? HELP!!!!

    • @TheGuitarGeek

      Hello
Simon. I have a squier bullet mustang and they are superb. The sonic is supposedly very similar. Th me Harley benton is also excellent but can be very heavy. I don’t know the grungemaster but I wish I did!
      P90s work great for anything

    • @simoningham1736
      @simoningham1736 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@TheGuitarGeek Thanks Andy, in that case I'll go for P90's and block inlays. The Artist grungemaster is practically the same guitar as the Harley benton JA60, it's not got the kluson tuners though. The black on the Grungemaster looks killer! Weight is 3kg to 3.6kg on Artist website.

I wish they also had a JPB, but they only offer a JJB.
A JPB with the option of a maple fretboard option and dot inlays.
