Replacing the carpet would make the van feel (and smell) new again. You could use the old carpet as a template and put any kind of carpet you want back in it. It’d make for a great video.
Randy, the doors are locking because that van probably was used at a retirement center. It's a safety feature. There should be a box under near the fuse box.
Once that ramp is gone? You're probably going to get 5 more miles a gallon. Good job. I like the new videos. I am Glad new types of videos working on stuff.
Randy, J and J autowrecking is parting out one that has everything you need for yours (including the captain chairs)! They have a video on their channel!
Besides an $8 trim tool kit, Home Depot/Ridgid has an awesome shop vac attachment kit with 1.25" hose & attachments, makes getting into tight areas a breeze on your vehicles... add glass guy to your resume
Good job Randy! Damn! What a nightmare that was removing that wheelchair lift! It had to go. That van will be a great road trip vehicle for your family. It just needs those Captain's chairs, and some of Brian's magic, and you are all set. I like it!
YOU DID IT RANDY!!!! That van looks so much better! Hope you do keep it, and use it as a travel velcgike as you intend on it! Love it Randy!!! Grind keeps going! Hope you’re having a nice holiday season along with everyone watching! ❤
There is an old saying that covers ths: "You gotta be SMARTER than what you are working with!! and When all else fails "read the direcetions or TH-cam!!"
I used to do these van conversions and what you need are universal pedestals. Any van with seats in the back will have them. Just use standard hardware to install them. Look up the seat manufacturer and see if they are still around
Good morning Randy. Getting rid of the handicap wheelchair lift in the 2005 GMC Savanah van. Also changing out the passenger side door window and putting the new glass in it.
Wow it was such a fun watch - really thought it would fall on you ! Replace the carpet with an offcut from a flooring shop go heavy duty low pile prob cost no more than $100
Loving the van! Like others have said, new carpet would do wonders and the comment on the universal seat mounts also for the captains chairs. Making me want one!
1st off Kudos on Fixing that Window! I would of smoove took it to some Glass Guys 2nd It probably came ordered w/o Captain chairs because they were gonna put a lift in it 3rd Appreciate All the Vids & Hard Work SALUTE TO YOU
Randy, they use standard home carpeting for the interior. The issue will be doing the upholstery work on the side that you will need a stapler and some spray on adhesive. Should be good content for views to replace it
A little trick I do with my shop-vac to get into tight spaces is grab a few feet of heater hose, hold one end onto the shop-vac hose and the other to get into the tight space. I blow out the heater hose with shop air afterward and keep it for reuse. Oh, and windows are always a joy. LOL
I love Ron's house & the 700 + round trip would love to see what makes it make and what doesn't . Hopefully they all make it . These vans are awesome 💯😎
Randy, you might try contacting Flexsteel RV Furniture regarding finding captains chairs for your Conversion Van -- they were often the OEM suppliers of the captains chairs and sofa beds.
Randy, Regency RV filed bankruptcy in October. If you want to shell out some cash, there are plenty of great seats on the internet. Or, you can pull some out of a salvage yard vehicle and have them reupholstered. That carpet is shot and needs replacement. Thanks for a great video!
My conversion van as a rotator switch near the steering wheel that allows me to choose an audio source.. I can split the system where the front speakers play the dash and the rear plays the rear stereo… I can do all front… and I can do tv video on the rear as well. Maybe you have a switch somewhere upfront that controls your audio source..
Randy Most GM vans, tahoes, suburbans have a standard floor,do what you need to lift up the carpet and look for the mounting floor seat bolt holes or whatever they are called. The carpet and padding covers them up , then you would have to cut the the carpet around those mountings and install the required surround plates . They are designed for quick removal. Keep up the great content, Watching from Janesville Wisconsin.
It was fun watching you keep your cool while getting the handicap ramp out of the van. You actually had me at the edge of my seat on occasion. Fun video to watch and very happy you've gotten yourself a very cheap conversion van!! Best of luck with what ever you decide to do with it. Be seeing you Randy!
This van definitely deserves new carpet front to back plus finding the Captain chairs you so covet to complete its transformation, a keen find on your part Randy in seeing its potential. Its going to look great once you finish the work. Highly appreciate these videos where you're putting in the sweat equity wrenching and taking us along the journey. Thanx!
Really a nice looking van! I love the GMC grill! I'd take all of the carpet out and buy some nice commercial grade carpet, take the seats out and install new. It would smell better too!
I Like your Videos much better than Adventures Made from scratch. I Dislike him Because he Crushes Perfectly fine vehicle, but you Understand the value in stuff. Thank you for being an amazing TH-camr.
Regarding the captains chairs, I had a similar problem & (eventually) got results with a WTB ad on Craigslist. A guy was parting out another conversion van & the fabric was a perfect match.
Just get some carpet from Ollies for carpet and its very resonable - or go to a local floor covering shop - they have remnants - easy to re-carpet - nice van - Thx for sharing
Randy, you can get a set of interior trim removal tools(they're plastic) from any auto parts/accessories store to make it easier for you and not damage the trim/s.
Sorry you had such a hard time with the window but at least it’s done. Tires and headlights look so much better great job. Road trip with your vehicles to Indianapolis yes with Mike i definitely watch. Nice to see a new transmission!
Randy, you could get captain chairs out of a mini van and install them. Also, a center bench out of mini van would fit. They should be cheap from a salvage yard.
Wish there was a phone a friend option, I'm sitting here talking to my friggen iPad, I'm confident you'll get it eventually. Once you get it figured out, most all vehicles are similar.
Randy I love when you and Mike get together to do anything walk around working on stuff Yes please go to Indiana together in your cars have a great day love love you show
I like this project. I hope you find some nice seats and get the carpet really clean or replaced. Looking good so far. Glad you didn’t get hurt removing that beast. 👍🤪❤️ Maybe a silicone stick rubbed on the window will help.
This was an awesome video! Hopefully you can find the captain chairs for it and it would look really clean! I also would love to see a road trip wit MWM!!
You could've watched a TH-cam video on replacing that window glass. Just a thought!
Google it - there aren’t any videos on replacing a window in one of these.
true i did google it, & was like wow you think they be a shop who did it @@AutoAuctionRebuilds
There is now 😆@@AutoAuctionRebuilds
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds well thanks to you,
we now have one ;p
@@alt7488 I'd rethink that assumption.....

Totally replace that carpet in the back Randy it'll look way better
I’d replace the carpet too it makes the car better and smell better

WOULD LOVE TO SEE A ROADTRIP VIDEO WITH YOU AND MIKE!
Randy, J and J autowrecking is parting out one that has everything you need for yours (including the captain chairs)! They have a video on their channel!
I'm typically not a "van" person, but that van is awesome, love it!
Besides an $8 trim tool kit, Home Depot/Ridgid has an awesome shop vac attachment kit with 1.25" hose & attachments, makes getting into tight areas a breeze on your vehicles... add glass guy to your resume
It was Regency and Explorer up to 2014. Now just Explorer makes these conversion vans, no other companies.
Good job Randy! Damn! What a nightmare that was removing that wheelchair lift! It had to go.
That van will be a great road trip vehicle for your family. It just needs those Captain's chairs, and some of Brian's magic, and you are all set. I like it!
Not only are you giving us videos for the holiday seasons but you’re also giving us DIYs, thank you Randy! I appreciate it

This is my favorite of all your vehicles ! Vanlife Rocks !
There is an old saying that covers ths: "You gotta be SMARTER than what you are working with!! and When all else fails "read the direcetions or TH-cam!!"
You need to invest in a body trim removal tool kit. They have them at harbor freight or your favorite parts store
I'm loving this van project.
Really enjoying these new videos. You working in the shop.
your video brings laughter glad you didn't get hurt. Thanks for Christmas joy to the world.

Good morning Randy. Getting rid of the handicap wheelchair lift in the 2005 GMC Savanah van. Also changing out the passenger side door window and putting the new glass in it.
You need more of the vehcor channel in your life. He removes windows all day long, and reinstalls them...among other body work items.
Love that channel. That dude has some skills!
Scotts dry sense of humor isn't for everyone though, he's awesome at what he does though.
Wow it was such a fun watch - really thought it would fall on you ! Replace the carpet with an offcut from a flooring shop go heavy duty low pile prob cost no more than $100
J&J autowrecking just got the same van in. Looks to have back captains chairs too and side plastics.
Loving the van! Like others have said, new carpet would do wonders and the comment on the universal seat mounts also for the captains chairs. Making me want one!
Looks like a great van and a ton of people get excited about vans like this. There are nomads all over the place looking for a home on wheels.
Randy you are crazy messing with that hydraulic ramp by yourself but have a happy new year and we will keep supporting your videos.🎉
i think you can program that doorlocking issue OUT of the thing,my monte had same issue when i had it and changed it
Was just gonna say that. Being an 05, he should be able to change the setting. I had to do that on my avalanche
I think its a great idea to test some of your cars on a roadtrip
Try a lube/wd40 on the black window track. It will help the window up and down friction
1st off Kudos on Fixing that Window! I would of smoove took it to some Glass Guys

Deep tint the. Windows and disable the auto lock feature
Nice find Randy 💯. Had my share of them side windows & regulators. Pain in the arss lol. Nice work Randy🔧👍. Salute 😎
Another AAR Diamond in the Rough. Amazing how these things keep falling in your lap. Congrats buddy.
Hey Randy, I may be wrong, but most those Express vans equipped with 5.3 are AWD. I own a couple, cargo van style. Love the content!
I love Ron's house & the 700 + round trip would love to see what makes it make and what doesn't . Hopefully they all make it . These vans are awesome 💯😎
I love these videos with the repairs absolutely love them!
I never seen you work so hard since you remodeled the house…. Great job!

Haters are going to hate. Fans, let's gather here and show some love to this exceptional talent.
I was really interested to see your work on the van great video great deal this van. Thank you so much

The roadtrip with MWM sounds great and i would love to see it
Absolutely love the AAR/MWM road-trips
Take a blow nozzle and blow glass toward the rear of the door and vacuum it out.
My best guess is the scrappers will be thanking you😅😅😅
This was very good content. Maybe show putting new carpet in along with the install of a seat. Seat should be a junkyard part.

That's super rare to get a van with dual side doors.

This one is a keeper hope you got you were able to get your daughter the Honda van or something
Most wheelchair ramps have an isolation switch near the unit or on the dash …it’s a safety feature .
I lived this window nightmare on my pickup a couple weeks ago 😅😅😅 so I feel your suffering 😭
Might not have went as planned. HOWEVER in the end it came out in one peace I say PERFECT! Very well done.
Wish I could find a van like that for that price it's amazing I would call it home love seeing what you come across at auction and great content 😉
Randy, you can get a set of interior trim removal tools(they're plastic) from any auto parts/accessories store to make it easier for you and not damage the trim/s.
You are a very hard working man Randy
Randy you should make a video of your retro game collection it would be cool to see
Nice find! Just add tint and polish the van 👌
I love watching the videos it doesn't matter how long they are
Sorry you had such a hard time with the window but at least it’s done. Tires and headlights look so much better great job. Road trip with your vehicles to Indianapolis yes with Mike i definitely watch. Nice to see a new transmission!
We're riding with ya.Great video.
Turn the volume up in the front for the back radio
The doors locking when the door is opened and closed is likely a wiring issue where they pass through the front edge of the door.
Nope auto lock from GM can be programmed out
@@gerry-p9x this has nothing to do with auto lock if you watched the video! He said when opening and closing the door is when it happens!
Great job Randy
Happy New Year !

Not as surprised as some at the new trans. 4L60 is legendary for it's lack of reliability. Lucky mine has the 4l90. Nice video.
If you lower the window down you can get to both bolt's that holds the window in
There could never be an auto auction rebuilds video that's too long LOL
I would like to see thos road trips again
Randy I love when you and Mike get together to do anything walk around working on stuff Yes please go to Indiana together in your cars have a great day love love you show
Well done Randy. Wish I could have been there to help you . Your passion is my passion 😂❤
Through your instrument cluster you can program the van to not lock you out.
Spray silicone on window tracks felts a few times. To lube
Thoroughly enjoyed this video Randy. Nothing like having the correct tires on a vehicle. It looks really good. Please do the same for the Escalade. 🤣
What a great job Randy! Plus a new transmission.
Doing windows/channels,some silicone lubricant spray helps
Randy, did you see the wrecked conversion van J&J Auto just got in? Might have parts you want. The seats are leather though.
I know if a chrsyler produced from 99-05 does that it’s normally a security switch In the door. The auto locks
Hope you had a terrific Christmas Randy!
I’m glad you took that thing out now just needs the beach seat or the captain chairs which ever you prefer. Clean up the carpet
A job well-done 👏 thank u for bring us along....U pushed through and u made it....
Love the van! Enjoy your maintenance/repair videos.
I also got my headlights cleaned and buffed at Wal-Mart but it was a guy doing it in the parking lot. It worked well.
I personally would.definitely enjoy seeing more road trip videos with you and MonkeyWrenchMike 👍😁
Loved the uploads
I love the road trip videos!!!
Sweet Van ...Gave Me Excellent Idea For Me And Family Be Perfect For Road Trip Well Fit Perfectly
Absolutley would love to see you and mike do that run with each vehicle. And ps bet the van accellerates better and gets slightly better fuel milage.
