- I got kicked out of Dealer's Auto Auction for things they did wrong that my camera inadvertently exposed. I guess the old saying "crap rolls down hill" clearly applies here. Sounds like the GM just doesn't want to take responsibility for his location. They screwed up and are blaming you. They are pathetic.

If this was anywhere else employees that failed to change the sign, make sure the cards etc were out of the vehicle and the rules not posted about gsa cars would have been fired from their jobs! You exposed their weaknesses and lack of caring at this location and because it was you are the one that they took it out on! It wasn’t even the security officers job, the gm probably seen you walking around and sent the security guard after you! This was the company itself not you!
The credit card sounds like a Government Problem. Maybe they should have gone over the car before they sent it to the auction.

It sounds like the GM is a total clown. To come at you thinking he had the story, when in fact he was wrong in ever aspect is laughable. I wouldn’t do business with them anymore, at least as long as that guy runs the joint
I feel like this isn't the first time he's screwed someone over because of his incompetence, and not taking responsibility for his actions.
Have to wonder who he sucked off in order to get that position as incompetence is often rewarded these days while leaving competent workers all the real work.

Retrained? Pssssh GMs don’t typically get training, they get hired based on management ability/experience and the rest is supposed to fall into place afterwards. This GM did what most of them are great at: blaming problems on someone else. I’ll bet when he realized he was wrong and Randy was right, he took it out on some lower level employee instead.
Sorry to hear all of this happened to you. If you're looking for new content, I'm happy to have you out to my house where you can film all the dents that my daughter put into her 2010 Mazda CX-9. If you do an episode for each dent, you should have enough content to last you until March.
We check everyone's credentials when they come in. We have posted limits and we do put stickers on the cars that you can not drive or they are in a location that is posted. That auction house owes you an apology, and they are running things messed up.
This is what happens when you give a minimum wage worker a little bit of authority. The general manager is nothing more than a warm body who counts cars. He is incompetent and should be fired for not knowing company rules and how his own lot is run.

Basically they're running a "good ol boy" style auction, got caught, got their asses chewed, and blamed you. Here in Texas, the car auctions are strict, they funnel you in to verify who you are, then make you walk past security to verify that you have a badge. If the cars aren't supposed to be driven, they're locked and the keys are in the office.
It used to be like that there. Ever since the og GM retired, 10+ yrs ago. This place has been going down hill.
Based on the details you shared they owe you an apology. If they had the wrong signage posted, fail to fulfill their obligations with their clients and/or fail to control access appropriately those things are not your fault…it sounds like the content you captured exposed them and caused them grief and rather than own that they elected to take it out on yourself. I doubt they will reverse their decision…(they should)…also sounds like their initial interactions with yourself were based on erroneous assumptions and facts and they came off unprofessional and heavy handed. You apologized and sympathies with them…but you did not do anything wrong or malicious. It’s unfortunate that you will loose out on content and revenue because they have issues. If in hindsight they can’t see that they made a mistake then that’s a negative reflection on them and they should take a look at the GM and how he’s running the location as I’m sure there are other issues.

What it boils down to is that someone had to actually get off their ASS and actually do THEIR job instead of sitting at a desk drinking coffee and playing Candy Crush all day. Corporate America at it's finest. Been there and saw plenty of that.

After going through similar situations I have found that there is always one asshole that gets others cranked up.
Randy, I pulled up their website, and the General manager is listed right at the top of the contact us section. I sent him a very courteous email in support of your channel and your over 400 thousand subscribers. I hope that helps you out. Again I was very courteous.
I can’t believe they did this. Their loss! They should be thanking you for bringing this to their attention.
But they are right in some aspects because filming exposes alot of bad practices there, even it is unexpectedly done
@@latinoheat210 what are they right about? NOTHING! That’s really dumb to say. They should learn and fix their problems and thank Randy for bringing them to their attention! Now the GM who made the huge mistake of taking this action will probably lose his job for trying to cover all these mistakes up. I own and ran many companies for many years and if I had a manager do this he or she would be immediately terminated. I would then thank Randy for bringing this to our attention and make sure there are procedures in place to avoid any further problems of this sort. These were the GM’s mistakes no one else’s and there are probably a lot more being the way it is run. Complete lack of responsibility on the management which starts with that GM who said he is the top boss. We have all seen the speed limit sign in the track videos. That is just a total lack of effort and the government cars should be marked no drive on them or at the very least a big sign posted none of which were done. I would not want a manager to be that unaware of what is going on running my business so there would be no choice but to replace him or her.

When business is slow businesses get nit picky out of frustration.
Maybe the problem was that someone after you stole the credit card and used it. The manager got his ass chewed and took it out on you. Insurance purposes is a BS excuse often used when they don’t have a legitimate reason.

Acv should go there and clean house and straighten everything out, and tighten security. They should hire you as a pr consultant to show case their cars.
One thing I’ll say randy is that no matter what I’ll keep watching the Copart walk around a or whatsoever you do I like your attitude and the education you bring a 21 year old kid like myself making smarter decisions with my money and investments into cars.
It’s strange that you have been doing business with Dealer’s Auto Auction for years without any issues until this point. I believe that even since the business is under new management, the new owners aren’t very cozy with you.

Most people in the Auto Sales Business are slimey. These people who run these auctions are the bottom of the Barrel. I don’t consider you part of the Business. You’re a Content Creator, A Good One.
What an unfortunate, entirely undeserved situation you've had to deal with. It's a shame, as I've absolutely loved the Dealer Auto Auction videos, with a great variety of cars and the test drives were pretty awesome. I'm glad you were able to explain this, and I hope that someday you can go back (or at least find another equivalent auction). I hope DAA can get their problems sorted. it's a special level of fail to have the wrong speed limit posted!
Sorry to hear what you went through. You should try to find another auto auction near you and film there. Furthermore, I would cancel you license from that place and demand some kind of refund and let them know you will not be buying anymore cars there anymore.

Hi Randy, based on what you told us, it feels like they were waiting to ambush you because they got reprimanded by the government. Their mistake probably almost costed them a contract to sell GSA cars. That potential loss of revenue is probably why the GM was angry. Anyway, you are correct, you're not really at fault and their policies or lack there of is the real issue here. If they have vehicles GSA or not that shouldn't be driven, then why leave the keys in the cars. They should be in a locked box somewhere.
Same with the credit card. It wasn’t Randy’s fault the auction missed it when they were cleaning the car. They just blame him because it’s easier than taking responsibility. Typical corporate bs

@@ozzierabbit587 I was wondering the same thing. My guess is that it's because they are publicly auctioned. It sounds like the public is not supposed to be on the lot doing test drives. If dealers were allowed to test drive the GSA cars it would put them at a unfair advantage come auction time. Or, potentially it's a rule the government made for liability reasons.
I suspect you’re right Randy, about the gov card. 16 year gov employee here who’s had to deal with GSA vehicles, those cards are for gas and maintenance, and are typically tightly controlled. I was shocked to see one left with the vehicle!
One thing I did learn in my 16 years.. you mess up uncle Sam’s wallet, you’re toast. Hours of training to even touch a gov pay card. (Using you’re as a general term here)

My wex card requires my user ID number in order to complete a transaction. I'd think state agencies would have similar protections so little chance of an unauthorized person using the card. Besides, the FBI would show up 5 minutes after they tried charging cigarettes or a Coke to the card. :)

I think this incident casts certainly a bad light on Dealers Auto Auction.... i think they should be working with You to improve their operation and reputation as a auto business entity.

Randy thank you for the update and I’m sure we all agree with you. Things will work out and I’m sure you will find content. The revenue is the kick in the ass tho, I haven’t worked since June of this year due the a foot injury and I make 100k a year as an electrician so I feel that kind of crunch. So sorry to hear this, you introduced us all to this auction, that I personally had never been to or made purchases from, but with that said, we started dealing with them and have had a good experience through our business, now we will consider how they are running and dealing with there customers...

Get an attorney...sue them for loss of income, false accusations, emotional distress, etc... it is clearly their mistakes, they got in trouble with their higher-ups, and restricted you, from your contractual agreement with them, they broke their own contract they have with you, who was legally allowed to be there...put their feet to the fire! Honestly if the government agent that screwed up and left the card caused you an issue there's a lawsuit against the government not to mention against the general manager one for verbally attacking you out in public and that is considered public harassment which is also punishable in court😊

Moments like this are why I like studying psychology as one of my hobbies anyway personalities like that manager are a big reason as to why there is so much turn over at most jobs these days.

It seems to me it goes a lot these days people seem to like to pass their flaws there Wrongdoings on other people they don’t like to take the blame for themselves as you said, which I agree you’ve done nothing wrong you follow the rules and because they weren’t doing their job you get blamed for things that you should be blamed for I hope things work out again maybe you should just move onand it’s their loss but you not giving them exposure anymore. To blame you for their ineptitude , is very annoying when all they needed to do , was to have a quiet word , with you about their unwriten rules , and just leave it there . When one considers all of their lost free advertising , then it becomes a very stupid way of behaving towards a good customer , such as you . If I had a huge car lot , I'd always be very pleased to see you . Let us hope you can find similar , but a much brighter company soon , than these silly people.
I have had a feeling that this was coming. Most auctions don't let you video without prior authorization. Our auction is that way, too. Hopefully things change and they realize it will help their business.
I work at a dealer only action. But I'm also a diehard car guy. When I see a cool or rear car I always upload it to Facebook. I am usually cautious about what's in the background and also catching mishap (which are many) and sharing on social media. You did hit the nail on the head. The general manager got in big trouble and took it out on you
They don’t like to be filmed because they shady, most here in NC, VA, SC GA don’t mind it at all, only places who have an issue either has done shady things or has shady dealings off gate

I think you were in the right. They should have signs posted about the speed limit on the test track. Also they should have something posted about the gsa cars that you can't drive. So in my opinion it's on them.

I used to work for the government and it was highly stressed to take care of the gas card and misuse was a federal felony.
Where i am from they used to have GSA auctions open to the public and anyone could buy and drive the vehicle.

Definitely disappointing and could of been kept behind closed doors rather then trying to use you as collateral, High key pisses me off even though I’m not in your situation, especially when u gave a rough estimate on lost income at the end, I feel for you on this one, If there’s is another DAA that’s a little bit further away you could always give them a try since their store management is different, still seems odd that you got thrown under the bus even though you have purchase history on your daa account. 2024 is right around the corner though so there is so much to look forward too you gotta just keep your head up.
Respect to this video that was clearly recorded with some in the middle of processing how to respond to a clear wrong doing on their part that most likely is a consequence of a management change with new ownership. It's on their end if they plan to maintain this ban or end it. But I totally understand if the general manager ever changes their mind, Randy doesn't take their offer with whatever restrictions they demand.
Sincerely, you did nothing intentionally wrong. A rule is not a rule until you break it. Lack of communication on their part is their fault on how they totally mismanaged to handle their problem with you. Honestly it's up to you to handle the financial penalty with grace or consult an attorney and take legal option with the general manager if they hard ball you.

It seems like you’ve had a very rough week (assuming these things happened recently) First it was the “Rock flinging fruitcake” and now this!! Hope things improve for you soon brother!! GREAT content, I especially enjoyed you taking NO *HIT AND GIVING NO F**KS with that moron throwing the rocks!! As a Bostonian (who left that liberal cesspool 20 years ago to join the military and NEVER moved back) who grew up in the city itself I’m not one of these people who claim Boston is my home but I live 40 miles from it. It was less than 5 miles from my house to Fenway PAHK. Anyways without going too too long here, I’m a nearly 40 year old disabled combat veteran, I am 5’6 so I’m obviously quite short and back during K-12 I fought AT LEAST twice a week every week during the school year without fail. Thankfully I haven’t had a fight since around 2010-2011. At least now being 5’6 178lbs there’s a little (not much lol). I just appreciated you not just letting it happen like so many people do today!

Just had an idea as you were ending this video, what about filming cars that are on the back lots of dealerships in your area? So the cars they will take to the auction due to damage or high miles, you can do a "before they go to auction" review. Maybe you end up buying some? Anyway, i hope this gets figured out.

Randy.......I ran into a similar situation at the Phoenix IAA yard, although it did not involve video, it was just more heavy-handed, mostly irrational behavior that demeans a paying customer. Think first that IAA charges $200/year for membership. When you visit the yard, that should mean something. In the case of my local IAA, it is a long drive, it is in an area where you would not want to have car problems and when I have been there, my car is one of the only ones with American plates......most are from Mexico. The first time I went there, I took a jump starter and the guard said absolutely no admission to the yard with the jump starter. (although the car I was looking at was non-running and it was going to be expensive) But, it didn't end there. The guy told me that I am not allowed to even start a car.......it is against the rules. So, I'm looking at cars in the 20-30k range, a very big investment, and I can't even check if the car runs? Then after returning the jump box to my car in the parking lot, I come back and the guy wands me and tells me I have to leave my only key fob with him. I reluctantly hand that over and then he wands me again, and tells me I have to give him any keys, including my only keys to my house. If not, I cannot enter the yard, after an hour drive. Then, I have to walk a long ways to find the car on a 109-degree morning, and the seat is stuck in the far forward position, so I can't even sit in it. A second trip was no better. I noticed many of the out of country folks were waved right on through. Not a customer-friendly environment and a very arrogant approach to take when running a business. You did nothing wrong and I think the yard is shooting themselves in the foot. Good luck with the GM. By the way, I thought your Walmart analogy was funny. In the past week, I have seen three people take entire cart-loads of stolen items out the door and security just let them walk away. Hope you find an alternative revenue source.

You always park the cars where u picked them, just to make their jobs easier.
You never hide or run away from your mistakes in the yard, you report them and even offer solution (both in copart and dealers and everywhere).
You follow every rule, everywhere.

For instance Jaguar comes to mind , and their particular timing chain issues , not that I'm ever going to be in the market for one of those .
But nevertheless , it's nice to know , just incase others might be tempted , by their looks alone !!!
How is anyone ever going to know the many pitfalls associated with particular makes and models , without someone like yourself , being prepared to tell them otherwise .
In that respect , it could be said that you're almost indirectly , doing a public service , there-by saving the buying public , potentially a whole load of grief , and plenty of hard earned cash , further down the line .

First off another great video bro. And honestly, based on everything that you said you did not do anything wrong. When you do things regularly, there are certain things that you don't always have on you. So it's understandable that when they ask you for certain things, although you have it, you may not be easily able to give it to them. They should understand that. Rules and regulations stated. If you don't clearly state the rules and regulations for your auction yard, then you really can't get anybody in trouble. And again, it's their fault again for not clearly posting accurate information. As for the filming part, you're completely right about that. They reserved the right to tell you that you not allowed to film there. Keep up the great work bro. Have a good one and I'll catch you on the next one. Randy the head guy you talked to doesn't sound like a very good manager. HE wants to be a big shot but doesn't know what he is of really doing in his job position. They need a new manager and set up a set of rules to be followed. Randy you did everything right the manager guy doesn't know his job.
Hence the requirement for ISO certification for doing business with government agencies.
