That van is a steal!!! And in an express van even if the motor is blown, any junkyard Ls will drop right in in a few hours! A win if you ask me, my 3500 has almost 200k and still goes strong
My wife bought one, a few years before she passed away and you can't believe what a blessing it is for a wheelchair bound person to have a vehicle like that
A 15 year old lift, scrap it. When you remove it please remember to put rust remover on the holes and seal it good. Also, make sure to cap off the acc power to avoid a short.
That van was an absolute steal, as someone that’s disabled and on the wee bit of SS we get , a van like this is what people like me need but can’t afford. And I honestly would say that it was probably used for som sort of commercial transport because of the fire extinguisher , most people don’t hard mount them in personal vehicles.
My wife has MS and back issues, she can’t sit for more than 30-45 min or so… so we picked up an old High top for long trips from Copart a few years ago. She rides up front till she can’t and then goes to the back and lays down on the bed…. Because of that van we can make longer road trips, which is awesome. We don’t drive it often but when we do it’s far.
You got a great deal IMHO. The doors most likely programmed to lock when doors close because of the type of passengers. Go to your onboard program and turn that off. Great buy
Im straight up jealous and not even ashamed to admit it. Ive been looking for a good deal on one for over 6 months. I'm in the rust belt. Ones that arent rotten go for over 10k up here.
I love your channel. That van appears to have been used by a nursing home in Clinton to transport residents. The tag and oil change sticker are from there. Great deal on the van, I’m anxious to see how it turns out once you finish it.
I have had a few different conversion vans if they feel like they’re really top-heavy, that’s normal but what I have discovered is put 10 ply tires on and new shocks usually make a pretty big difference
I bought a 92 conversion van with 163k on the 350, drove 200 miles to buy it for 1200 bucks ,drove it home, changed the fluids, and drove it from Montana to Bismarck ND for a concert with no problems, and it's missing a couple of the small window blinds also
Randy, your the luckiest guy I know. The van was probably well maintained for what it was used for, the owner had to rely on it. Very glad your trying to save it , I think it would serve you well. 😊 l love it 👍
I can definitely see the potential! A little cleaning and a few things fixed and it’ll be a sharp van. Steal of a deal Randy! Can’t wait to see more content on this! Oh Randy, you’ll need new running boards....the one on the handicap access is shorter.
Looks like a good deal Randy. My grandfather had an almost identical GMC Regency van back in 2003, including a wheelchair lift for my handicapped uncle. It was a good van!
Hey Randy, congratulations I’ve been keeping my eye on your subscriber count and it’s going up by 1000 or two every few days now I see you’re almost ready to turn over to 430,000! This video shows you another reason why! You raise the bar on the word variety when it comes to your smorgasbord of car collection! Can’t wait every day to see what’s next! You are the best buddy keep it up!
Hello Randy, that van is It's perfect for Mike to accompany you on the Power Tour. You can run a workshop in it. Merry Christmas and happy New Year from Uruguay.
Commenting at 7 min…Randy you scored with that van. It would be an amazing HWY cruiser and even sprucing it up you will be way under what it’s worth. I saw the original video when you found it and am looking forward to seeing the content to come. Clean it up, remove the lift, find the matching captains chairs, get the right floor covering for it, change the fluids and give it a tune. Man wish I had access to deals like that!
Those vans are fantastic road trip/long haul vans.. GVWR is 8600 and you have amenities right there so you don't need to stop at a hotel. I've taken my 2019 cargo variant on several overnight/multiple night trips and saved a good bit of money by not staying in hotels/motels. For $2650 that van is a win all day long. That would make a good candidate to send to Brian and have him shine it up
As for the manual lift, the tool to lower it is located as soon as you open the door to the lift on the left side. Can't miss it. You pull the stick out from it's holder go back into the van. You'll figure the rest out. It's easy. Christopher Reeves had one.
Van was probably operated out of a group home for disabled adults. The Ricon lifts do often leak out of the rams that make it go up and down. It isn't much for leaking but over XX number of years it gets messy with no cleaning. Otherwise the lifts themselves are easy enough to make them work as it is usually microswitches that fail along with adjustments that go out of wack.
I would absolutely love to see a series on this van of you sorting it out to be a short break getaway van the potential in this van is epic I totally love it great buy randy
Randy I paid 8600 for my 2003 Chevy Trailblazer and it only had 140000 miles on it and it runs out really good and it is a all wheel drive vehicle it's a top of the line Trailblazer with leather seats and all the bells and whistles that you can get back in when it was new I just love it and I think that you got a even better deal for the van and I think that you will just love it on a long trip back to Indiana and if you get tired you can just take a nap and get refreshed and it will not cost you a motel in the long run period Charlie kretschmar Phoenix Arizona
My dad's Savana didn't have that because I think it was the most base model you could get. I would love to see a 2006 saturn vue on the channel because my mom has one and she loves it but it has major problems
My uncle had a van like this one in my granny yard! He was a OTR trucker. His son had the keys!!! Listen, hotel on wheels, half the time I never left her yard!!!! For some reason, chicks loved the reclining bed!!! Good times!!!!😂😂😂😂
Thats an absolute steal Randy! I've been looking for something like this, and in my area the cheapest one I've been able to find is $10,000 for a minivan! I'd unfortunately need it with the lift but I understand why you'd want to uninstall it.
I really like that van as well. A definite find! I would just replace the carpet if it were me and doing so, maybe you’ll find the seat mounts. It’ll be a great cruiser with a little tlc!
You got steal of a deal, I found a 2002 Savana 1500 for $9995. The same color as well. Should be well worth 7-8k. Forgot to mention, that Van had 173k miles. What a steal of a deal.
My sister and brother-in-law have the same van for my nephew who was in a rollover accident and is now a TBI patient it has served them very well and they are nice vans
Great van Randy. You'll need to find a full size running board for the wheelchair access side, you have a shorty on that side. I'd go ahead and pull the carpet, you'll need to see where the captains chair mounts are, or you may have to install mounts if they don't exist. I'm like you, always wanted one, just never got around to getting one. My sister had a late ninetees Ford full size conversion van, all decked out inside. She ran it into the ground though, never took care of it. Shame. Was an Econoline conversion. If you decide you're going to keep it for a while, redo the inside, recover the chairs and sofa bed. Put in a new carpet, make it have your personallity!! I wouldn't touch the outide, the color and graphics are perfect. I think you're going to find this video series will give you huge numbers...at least I hope it will!!
Excited to see this van cleaned up with all the things done that’s needed. Aside from fuel economy on these big trucks and vans. I’ve always wanted one too. 👍❤️😊 You done good. 👍
I miss old videos when in the end of the month you make a video for the cars Profit and loss from the selling and from youtube i think i am not only one who want to be back
Very excited to see this project & the improvements you have for this vehicle Randy. Great deal with no warning lights & under 130k. It's a small camper ready to be lived in once cleaned up.
Maybe you could contact the conversion company and they would be able to get you some captain seats for the van? What a great vehicle for your Indiana trips, with the family? And vacations would be a lot more comfortable? It’s definitely a steal of a deal, and something you should keep!
Your door locking issue is a safety feature seeing how it served in an assisted home facility.. we had the same model van in a group home doors did the same thing
Your van could have remote start if you hold down the lock button on the key remote. I believe in 05' GM added remote start as standard option on some cars, trucks and vans. My 05' Pontiac G6 had the same key fob with remote start. The auto lock problem might be a program in the anti theft that can be turned off.
We have a custom handicapped van (2015 GMC Savanna, Explorer Edition similar to Hoovies'). I would recommend keeping those bungy cords. They tie open the side doors so that the wind doesn't catch them and put a major kink dent into the doors and side panels. Hook one cord to the side mirror, and the other cord to the wheel well. The opposite ends onto each door respectively. Get tires that are properly weight-compatible. Our van has more customization and is heavier than yours so requires Z rated tires. You likely require heavier-rated tires too compared to a basic panel van. This is very important! You should be able to add seats easily after you rip the carpet out. I would recommend sound deadening such as Hush Mat material to ameliorate road and wind noise. The engine is one of the most reliable GM ever made, but keep an eye on the radiator as it will get taxed, and you will likely need to replace it. (Very easy to do), and given its age, mileage, and dormancy, I would go ahead and replace it now. That lift is likely shot, and probably only good for parts. Converting it back to a regular custom van makes the most sense. Unless you did a full handicapped upgrade, which doesn't make it profitable for resale.

Reminds me of the late 90s and early 2000s my grandma had a 2 dodge ram vans one was a 94 Hightop, the other a 95 low top, and we'd take both on a family vacation makes me kinda want one myself
@@gerry-p9xYes need to follow the wiring and find where it is connected so it can be disconnected without damaging that wiring for the lift. Is places that can either get the kit to rebuild the hydraulic ram or even rebuild it for you.
They are beautiful and very comfortable for family travel, I recommend putting some tires with white letters on the side that will look good and if you can, a little wider for better stability. greetings from Puerto Rico
Randy got a party bus . Just tires, passenger window new carpet & leave the bed. Install middle poll & there's magic🎉. Also get rid of the handicapped device. Will sale for crazy price. It's a sleeper...
I would stop by a pull a part place and get a window as well as checking other vans for captain chairs. I honestly would just get house carpet and put it in. That what they we’re using in the 70s and 80s. Check market place about some nicer takeoff wheels and tires. Might score on a nice set! Cool deal! You did well!
I had a conversion van once, it was great. You could tow something, like my popup camper, and had to keep looking back to see if it was still there. We nick named it the "Brown Cow".
i bought a 2000 gmc savanna 3500 5.7 350 the begging of this year. bought it because i moved from indiana to NorthCarolina and didn’t wanna spend 1,000+ on a Uhual van had 157k miles on it i got the oil changed loaded up what i could and sailed out on a 800MI journey. as i type this video she’s still in my drive way with a hair over 159k miles and im not ever letting it go. (extended cargo van) GOT IT FOR $2,000!!!!
Try opening the key fob and cleaning the contacts with a little alcohol that might clear up the door lock problem. Also get a door key made and keep in your wallet just in case.
Is a couple pf vans in my area at a dealership just a couple of miles from me and i think they are the same year and they have more miles on them. I think they are listed at 6900 each. Not Regency conversion ones either. The work ones like a plumbing crew woukd use. 😮😊
Do like Craig from Flying Wheels You Tube Channel did. He had a similar van he bought, he fixed it up and donated it to a local family in need of a wheel chair van.
Congrats Randy i was hopping you get this nicê van pretty cool Van i am a sucker with vans. Just get Rid of that wheel chair lift and a deep cleaning and what a Nice van to go to everywhere. That's One of the best vehicles you got.
The lift is rebuild able and is still in goid shape despite the damaged ram. Is a place in NH that can service those lifts and has all the necessary parts to fully recondition that lift. That is what I would do send it to them so they can rebuild it and install it into another van. Would be a waste just to scrap it 😮😊
being a conversion van I'm sure those wheels and tires didn't come on it they usually have custom aftermarket wheels on them. and you got a great deal on it hit up your local pull a part yard to get your seats and the console you said you'd like to have. under the carpet you'll find the mounting holes for the captains chairs or at least the bench mounts.
A trip to pick n pull for the shades , window , and center captain seats . I would Google the name on the lift to see if you have any one in your area that installs them and give it to them if they will remove it all . They can recondition it or use it for parts. What a great find !
The RICON brand lift parts are incredibly expense, the lift likely needed a major part (pump assembly, etc) and the previous owner decided not to invest any money into it. Donate the lift, don't waste time troubleshooting it. Another option, school districts have lift buses and may want it for parts.
The brackets for the captain chairs are located around where the triangle cutout is on the carpet. Safe to say they were removed along time ago as they get in the way of the wheelchair. Safe bet is to check out a junk yard to find the brackets and chairs.
Yes, because of the broken window. I had some experience with this working at a body shop for a bit. Had a car that did the same thing until we disassembled the door and replaced the glass and a switch. 😊
That van is a steal!!! And in an express van even if the motor is blown, any junkyard Ls will drop right in in a few hours! A win if you ask me, my 3500 has almost 200k and still goes strong
He would never swap a motor, remember sbc head gaskets are to much for him
I like the direction you are going on the van. What will it sell for. It looks great. $$
My wife bought one, a few years before she passed away and you can't believe what a blessing it is for a wheelchair bound person to have a vehicle like that
Tie downs for wheel chair plates for capt chairs there THREded already. Under carpet.
Had that same van and drove it 600,000 miles with no trouble and sold it running like a top. Great buy Randy.
A 15 year old lift, scrap it. When you remove it please remember to put rust remover on the holes and seal it good. Also, make sure to cap off the acc power to avoid a short.
Randy is buying so many vehicles he's going to end up living in a van down by the river. Seriously a cool van at a super price throw in a 12 v fridge.

Deep tint the windows and fix blind with self stick. Tape
Randy that’s a good idea taking the ramp out and putting the captain chairs back in. It would be excellent for a mwm and you trip to Indy.
Smart buy! Gut that interior! There used to be an RV store on Shields that sold “captain chairs” etc..
Bring back the custom vans!

back when these were popular and we stocked them at the dealership, we called the fold down bed the “flip and f@@k”.

Love the van! It’s real easy to put new carpet in it
i had one of those legend batteries last 11 years ,just kept the fluid topped off and terminals clean . i think it was a 7 year rated battery .
Yes they are. Had a couple of those on vehicles when I was on the farm.

I found a 2002 ford conversion van with the 7.3 diesel for $4k but it’s completely rusted out 😂 it looks like that f350 you had
The manual jack handle is visible at 2:08. To the right of the lift, behind the housing for the manual controls.
Clear plastic and some good tape would make a temporary window. Looks like a great deal.
That station 94.7 plays awesome music...i wanna rock!

Your door locking issue is a safety feature seeing how it served in an assisted home facility.. we had the same model van in a group home doors did the same thing
I agree , zero chance of finding one for less than 5 k running and driving ( for that price it'll have a blown engine or transmission )
Your van could have remote start if you hold down the lock button on the key remote. I believe in 05' GM added remote start as standard option on some cars, trucks and vans. Hoovie has a gorgeous gmc conversion van
Man I love Vans and Wagons and I know these don’t get views but I am happy you have done one thanks 🙏🏻
The doors locking is a programing issues, had a similar issues with a Honda ridgeline.
*I'm so glad that you bought it now! Such a good van that doesn't need much! You got an amazing deal!!* 😊

Good Morning Randy enjoying the new format cars from the 80’s and 90’s…. You’re doing a great job keeping me entertained.., Thank you….
tires may be alright in size.. sometimes they have a size a or size b.... best of luck with it....
Great deal..... My two cents would be to order new carpet.... Would be the cherry on top....
You are winning with the van. Even if you decide that you no longer want a van you have a great running LS pówertrain for a project vehicle.
So easy to get it running! Glad to see that! Like this van you definitely stole it. Keep up the great content.
Yes I think that you can delete that in the program and stop the door's from locking OK Charlie kretschmar Phoenix Arizona
Keep it for as long you can for your family road trip van all day
Van lifer here! I love your new van I personally would Chang out the seat for a bed/ storage but I also am rolling solo😅 nice find!
I live in chicago and these vans are popular here. I love these vans and would love to buy one.

Had a '97 years ago. Most comfortable vehicle ever. Definitely miss it.
You can program auto lock off on the van. You got a fantastic deal on it.
I recognised it from the spots on the door handle that Randy showed in a previous video
I think you did good buying that van. I can definitely see you traveling to Indiana in that
I'd look at a camper place for the shades maybe a pull apart yard
Great deal on that van it's definitely cool I haven't seen one that clean in a long time
That’s a deal randy !! Drop any LS junkyard motor that has a garentee and it could haul the family no problem!!!
Randy this is a keeper.nice van😊
Congrats Randy i was hopping you get this nicê van pretty cool Van i am a sucker with vans. Just get Rid of that wheel chair lift and a deep cleaning and what a Nice van to go to everywhere. That's One of the best vehicles you got.
The lift is rebuild able and is still in goid shape despite the damaged ram. Is a place in NH that can service those lifts and has all the necessary parts to fully recondition that lift. That is what I would do send it to them so they can rebuild it and install it into another van. Would be a waste just to scrap it 😮😊
@@carlbernard4197 yes i agree with you friend BC you never know if someone Will need it
being a conversion van I'm sure those wheels and tires didn't come on it they usually have custom aftermarket wheels on them. and you got a great deal on it hit up your local pull a part yard to get your seats and the console you said you'd like to have. under the carpet you'll find the mounting holes for the captains chairs or at least the bench mounts.
That van was a deal! The shades can be found online or at any camper supply store.
That ram is entirely rebuildable and is a place in NH that has the parts for it and other makes of lifts. 😊
Nice find maybe 2 captain chairs for a second row good luck
The brackets for the captain chairs are located around where the triangle cutout is on the carpet. Safe to say they were removed along time ago as they get in the way of the wheelchair. Safe bet is to check out a junk yard to find the brackets and chairs.
The door lock issue is probably the door lock actuators.
Yes, because of the broken window. I had some experience with this working at a body shop for a bit. Had a car that did the same thing until we disassembled the door and replaced the glass and a switch. 😊
Another good buy randy. With a little work will be a nice van
