- Support the channel if you can / yellowstone This cub loves the game "Catch Me If You Can..." Recorded in May 2021 - in the Northern tier of Yellowstone National Park SE hillside of Elk Creek just South of 212. A Black bear sow (Momma Bear) had just about all should take of this little cub's independence. She was a bit rough on him but he turned out to be just fine. I was standing in location where you are exposed to the wind so it is just actual sound as I heard it. No music for this short video and I have condensed about 25 minutes down to about six and half minutes. Best, Ron (c) YellowstoneVideo.com 2021 We would really appreciate your support on Patreon
That's one defiant and very independent cub! Such a little rascal! It knew it had the advantage as its didn't weigh enough to break through the snow, yet momma bear did! Delightful video. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting Vicki. I really do appreciate it. Best, Ron
You are so lucky to see this adventure between mom and cub. I hope you do what you can to protect they and their habitat. Thanks for sharing

Poor mama bear, she must be thinking "Lord give me patience ".
😂😂😂
So, true. I bet she glad she didn’t have two or three , which sometimes they do. And they all acted that way!
The cub was very curious, wanted to explore! I don't think he was intentionally misbehaving, he just didn't understand at first that his mom wanted him to stick close by her. Without language like us, animals have to communicate through body language, and the cub didn't understand what his mom wanted him to do. At least that's my guess!
Great video, thank you. One of these days the YT algorithm is going to find this channel and it'll catch on fire! You're criminally undersubscribed but I think that will change. You have a good eye for finding a "story." Thanks for sharing your videos, the animals and landscape are stunning. I hope to get to Yellowstone some day and see it all in person.
Thank you, thank you and thank you again. That means a ton to me. I hope you make it to Yellowstone too and if you do ping me and if I am out I will share with you what I find. Thank you again Leslie!
@@Yellowstonewolves I will, sounds great!
I guess she doesn’t know the trick of walking away a few steps and saying, Okay, I’m leaving, see you later.
Or counting to three
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Me: .....bye.......
It's ok for all other personnality, but not for this...they don't care, they want exploring...
The young son of my sister shouted to her: "go away! You are not my mother! (??)”
Hearing this a policeman asked my sister for her identity card !!

This little one...( I don't know why, but I kept thinking was a female and already named the misbehavin' cub Dolly! LOL ❤️) is definitely testing her poor Mama's patience to the max. One day Mama will be having a heart to heart with her prodigy, wring her paws, and say, "Girl, you have no idea what you put me through even when you were just a sassy little thing...". Poor mama, doing the best she can to teach this little one!" 🐻❤️🐻
That’s what’s called, “tough love.” What a precious, naughty little cub. Thank you for your video.
Thanks for watching Dori. I will keep working on the next ones. Best, Ron
Been to Yellowstone, unforgettable....................I loved this video............ I love nature 🥰🥰🤩💖
Am I the ONLY ONE that see's that momma bear picking up her young "any & everywhere"? I've NEVER seen a mother of any bread pick-up her cubs LIKE SHE WAS!! 😲👎
Sad... just made me really mad & sad. Must be her first cubs.🤤😯🐾
It did look brutal but the cub seemed unharmed, sometimes nature is rough. The cub, too young to know better, might have been placing them both in danger and he obviously was not taking the hint from mom. That's why I called it, "tough love." Thanks for your response.
I've lived in Wyoming & Alaska & all the bears I've seen in life, videos & movie's I've NEVER seen a bear mom lift a cub up that way! I think the cubs were running from her because she was hurting them.
Let Yellowstone National Park decide. I can be wrong but I really have only seen them & other animals lift there cubs up by their necks not there backs.
Just goes to show you that even bears have wayward children

So true sometimes
Ever so precious and most fortunate to have captured on film. I’d say somewhat similar to the “terrible two’s” behavior of some youngsters. 🐻

Those black bears in that area from Elk Creek to Tower are a riot. The little ones do press their luck. A couple years ago I saw a sow and two cubs on the Tower campground road. One cub was acting up like this one. Mom had enough. She jumped on him and roared quite loud while swatting him around. I was a bit concerned that she may have injured him, but moms know...
Little guy followed her verry close after that.
Great story and so true - thank you for watching and commenting.

This video brought lots of mixed emotions for me. Very cute to start with, then it seemed like the Mama Bear (or other) was a bit rough with the rambunctious cub. When the cub was flung like that, I first thought the cub hit the tree...glad the cub was ok. I love to watch bear cubs! I just never saw anything like this.
Thank you so much! Me either so this was why I shared it. Please if can give it a thumbs up, I'd really appreciate it. Best, Ron
Omg in all my years following bears i have never seen a mummy bear act like this. I even started to think is this a mummy bear or a male. I guess she had just run out of patience. I'm hope the little guy was ok. No wonder he went to the top of a tree for safety. Be nice mummy bear, your cubs are precious. Awesome footage Ron. I've missed your videos but great to see you're still out there ❤❤🐻
Emma Dempsey : actually I think you're right. I think this is a male bear or another female bear that stole this cub. the Cub is actually trying to get away from it .

That poor mother. I’ve been to Yellowstone before and the Cubs were miss behaving climbed the tree bring she had to bring them down and literally spank them but I noticed it made a difference they were just kids it’s a good thing they do not have child abuse for bears because when kids don’t listenThe mom had to do the best she can and it worked. Just like in my grandmothers days

My mother put us in harnesses. We learned quickly since we didn't like them. Had a cousin who kept running out into the street. His mom put a harness on him too. He learned.
Thank you so much Snickle ! Please if can give it a thumbs up, I'd really appreciate it. Best, Ron
We also had harnesses
My mom was more like that bear... She didn't halter us up like a dog...but paddled our asses if we didn't obey her....or at least give us one good quick swat right away to catch our attention...lol.
We learned to obey.
Some people might think it's abusive or harsh...but you can't keep a kid in a harness all of the time and while they might learn to not run off on the spur of the moment, I don't think it teaches an overall lesson of immediately obeying your parents no matter what, and also obey rules once you know what the rules are - we never got punished for breaking a rule we didn't know about...but once told...that was it....it was a rule and you obeyed it. Most of the time, our punishment was more chores added to what we were suppose to do anyways, but also often would include being grounded. It had to be something very important, before we got swatted.
(I'm 57 btw, a woman and no, those infrequent hits to the butt never damaged me physically or emotionally).
I can hear you laughing 😂 when it started climbing the 🌲 tree...she sure swung it around. Lovely to see nature just being nature. Nice video,.👌👍🐾🐾
Yes you caught me - I have another Sow I caught teaching her new cubs to climb trees. I will get it done and posted.

Poor Momma bear!🐻And everyone would freak out if she gave that naughty, naughty little cub a swat! Cub is so unbelievably naughty and what the cub doesn't understand is that this is life and death out there. I mean Momma really has the patience of a Saint because Momma saying, " fine, I'm leaving" means death by predator or starvation. So that little fling she got was so deserved. It's not awe, you poor thing. On the contrary, I hear laughter but really that cub needs to be shoved in a hole and left there until Momma gets back with the food she is hunting for. I know that RACCOON Mommas are some of the best and they leave their kits during the day when they think their babies will be safe, only for people to think their rabid and report them. Pls anyone who sees RACCOONs or FOXES out in the day and it doesn't have to be in the Spring only, most likely it's because she is so hungry trying to feed 6 or more babies. You can tell when an animal is rabid, it's beside itself with sickness! Use common sense people, if your bothering them and they come after you, it's instinctively just trying to scare you because it knows your up to no good. Pls don't kill our wildlife...they're so beautiful, but also we have invaded their space. It's not their fault they have no choice. I mean this video, while we appreciate the share, and ty for not invading their space, but humans are even in the deepest of secluded areas now. They can't escape us. Gr8 video, ty.
Exactly. Food can be scarce and there are many out looking for a meal so some have to beat the crowd and go out early if they want to survive. I watch a channel who feeds wild raccoons and I was glad to learn this because the so called *experts* always say any nocturnal animal out in the daylight is rabid. Poor things are just trying to get something to eat before they have to fight a horde for it.
Thanks for reminding people!

Its amazing that there is still that much snow in Yellowstone in May.
There's still that much if not more in our BC Canada mountains in May. Snow takes awhile to melt. They hibernate up in higher ground. They will travel downward for food.

If she were doing anything predatory there would be blood on that snow.
I suspect that bears, like cats, have loose skin and that picking them up like that, while it looks vicious to us, is pretty much painless to them (I'm going to look this up).
I don't believe bears play with their food. If her intent had been to kill, the cub would be dead.
Maybe she is a new mother
Cats don't typically swing their young like that though! Maybe it's a bear thing but the mother did seem a little rough.
She could be. I would never know. Best, Ron

I thought bears hibernate while it's snowing, i guess that's only during the winter, and not snow itself. I don't know.
only during the winter month and they come out while there is still snow on the ground.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting R. Brown. I really do appreciate it. These bears were just starting to come out. I hope you subscribe, Best, Ron
I was going to question the same thing. Also, do bears give birth at the time of hibernation? The cub looks like it isn't very old. Maybe it's not her cub?
@@dorismikolajczak5278 HI Doris - yes Yellowstone's bears give birth in the den during the winter and emerge with their new cubs called COY or cub of the year each spring. Once you take a step back and think about the Cubs you see in Yellowstone you realize that cubs come in three sizes - Small (less than a year) - Medium (people say 2yo but is actually their second summer) - Large (third summer and have denned with mom for two more winters). This is pretty easy to understand, small is what you see in this video, large are almost size of the parent, medium is clearly in between the two. Most sows will den with their cubs for three years. So when you see a sow and these small cubs they are the "small" and her newest cubs. If you saw that same bear the next year her cubs would be Medium, these are cubs that are clearly bigger than what you see in this video. The next year that same sow would have cubs that are much closer to her size and Large and thus these three year olds would likely be the last year with her and she will force them away since she will likely go back into heat and have new cubs. Since cubs disappear for the winter and yet still grow they seem to look like they move between these three sizes. At the end of the third summer they look pretty close to the size of the sow. Hope this helps some.
I watched this in person too. I was the guy in the truck having lunch when you two parked behind me. You pointed out the moose on the hillside first before we saw this bear cub drama unfold. While we watched I said "Are you guys getting this?" And you replied "She's going to kill that cub." Then your friend on the scope said "What makes you think it's a she?" I know you mentioned the cub climbed the tree but I didn't see it till your video. I know I left before you guys but I was pretty upset and sad after seeing this. Thank you for posting the video and putting a positive end to it. It is still hard for me to look at my images ...
Hey of course I remember you. I was sure that cub was doomed but when I went back and looked it was following mom in the trees and climbing one. I will go back and take a look and post the time mark. I was going to add the moose and should have. Hey were you there when the wolf with broken front leg went to the bison kill? I am working on that video now. Best, Ron
5:40 the cub is on a trunk behind the larger one in front. In the shot he is coming down the tree.
My instinct tells me that isn’t the mother. The cub is trying to get away. But if that’s the case, what happened to the mother?
@@galecreek I think so too
How can that black bear be the parent of a brown bear(grizzly) are you sure that black bear was just not dragging it along to eat it later, to me that would explain why the cub kept running away

Momma bear is probably just trying to stop the cub from becoming a boo boo the cub snack to another older bear.
Also, that may not be the mother of the cub. The cub could be prey..That’s a black bear and the cub looks more like a brown bear if you look closely...Brown bears and Black bears don’t like each other so It would not be out of the ordinary. It’s messed up, but it’s also nature.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting, I really appreciate it and hope you subscribe if you can, much more to come.
D Truth : I think you're right. this is not mama. I think this bear stole that cub.
Browns are the type of grizzly found in Alaska. Black bears can be several different colors, brown black, cinnamon blonde. They are both black bears. Not sure if this is just an impatient mother but the cub to me seems like it is trying to escape. Black bears especially young are not really good mothers.
That's a good point about the colour of the cub. However, black bears rarely eat meat other than fish, they are mainly vegetarians. Also, if she/he wanted to kill the cub, she would have done it instead of carrying it around. I wonder if the cub is brown due to his young age?
"Black" bears can be all different colors. If the cub was a grizzly he would have a ring around his neck likely. Also a black bear that tried to steal a grizzly cub would be dead.
She got her hands FULL and that is most likely an understatement. 🤔😏yeah it’s an understatement alright. 🤨

Little Buster knows Classic Coke is better than his mother's milk. He also knows where the Coke machine is. He figures he'll have to sneak away after his mom falls asleep.

The adult bear was a black bear so how could it be the parent of that cub which was a brown bear(grizzly) what I think is that that black bear was going to eat that cub that's why it was trying to get away
Sorry for the delay in responding I missed your question. Black bears are both black and brown which is called "cinnamon." Two black bears can have cinnamon cubs - The cinnamon bear (Ursus americanus cinnamomum) is both a highly variable color morph and a subspecies of the American black bear. The various color morphs are frequently intermixed in the same family; hence, seeing either a black-colored female with brown or red-brown cubs, a brown-colored female with black or red-brown cubs, or a female of any one of the three colors with a black cub, a brown cub and a red-brown cub, is a common occurrence.
Вот это воспитание,раз за шкварник, и всё готово

its brown....are there grizzly bears in that area....did a Black Bear snatch a grizzly cub ?
I don't think so. Black bears have both black cubs and cinnamon colored cubs. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Please join the “Wildlife Support Team” by subscribing to the channel if you can, much more to come and I so appreciate your support. - Best, Ron
Sure that is the mama? Seems when it got the opportunity it climbed like it was taught from danger n male bears. Never seemed to run towards her or him.
@melindab3910 Sorry for being late on replying - but I do think you are right something seemed really odd in this interaction.

Mele - I just posted a new video th-cam.com/video/ZFPtRxkZ-0E/w-d-xo.html "The War Continues" this time Wolf-vs-Grizzly this one was fun to watch so I shortened it down for others to watch in a reasonable amount of time. Thank you again for commenting too!
Wish I could sit down with this momma bear and compare our child rearing approaches! 😁
Hi Joan, Please do give it a thumbs up if you can, I hope you can subscribe too. Best Ron
I am no expert, but something is not right here. That mom does not act like any mother bear I have seen. I hope it didn't become a meal. I wish i had not seen this honestly.

Mom 🐻 bear might be a first time mom. It appears to me that this mom is unsure about what to do when the little one keep taking off.
Thank you for commenting and I am sorry I did respond sooner. I missed some of the messages! Much more to watch and to post of wildlife.
I wonder if what we have here is an inexperienced mama bear; she doesn't seem to understand how to get a good grip on Junior.
A lot of folks were thinking the same thing. We will never know and sorry it took me so long to reply.
I see my own 'self' in this little wanderer😯😉😆
Please do give it a thumbs up if you can, I hope you can subscribe too. Best Ron
