Didn’t even realize that the front grip wasn’t just glued to the front of the grip. Mine is totally solid, have had it since my wife convinced me to get it around Valentines day (better gift than flowers) and have taken it to the range most weekends. My wife likes it even better than I do.

The “false reset” goes away. It’s an excellent pistol and in my experience, what I put in the sights at any distance I hit. Well balanced. I did have an issue early on where it had a defective component in the slide assembly that was corrected under warranty and I have shot over 1000 rounds through it since S&W replaced the slide and it has been trouble free.
Just got this gun yesterday. Hadn't watched any videos over it beforehand. I love it. The reset on my trigger works just fine for me. 100 rounds of cheap laquer coated monarch 9mm just fine.
I couldn't get mine to false reset I tried to mine works fine my one main complaint it's the way you have to take out the slide pin for field stripping I can't think of any good reason they did it that way
If you take theag out you can actually look up it and see what the false reset is. It's hitting the ledge and just not going all the way and that is what the false reset it.
I ride motorcycles, precise throttle actuation is a must, it's in constant use. My new gun, not so much, brought it for a specific reason, the guy sneaking in my daughter's bedroom! After that, fun toy to look at, with a great story. Sure hope it isn't my Son-in-law getting off early. ...then it's a bad Story.
To be on point , “ There are no serious problems with the smith and Wesson CSX” should have been the first words out of your mouth to launch your video. It’s a great little gun, you say that at the end and every thing is personal preference addressing in my opinion is addressing “ first time buyer syndrome “. People research cars, washing machines, tv and stereo equipment before they make an informed decisions but walk into a gun shop looking like a deer in the headlights, and more importantly “gun dumb” ! They want a gun but have never owned or shot a gun and buy on esthetics , impulse, and name recognition. They don’t understand us gun owners and collectors, they want a gun. Price wise they don’t calculate the gun safe , 200-500 rounds of ammunition, holster, cleaning supplies, or range time. Gun ownership is not an inexpensive hobby and the realization of you will spend more on ammo and needed accessories makes that $400.00 dollar gun with taxes, fees and needed accessories is now a $1000 to $ 1200 purchase. So when they get home they realize I should have bought a gun exactly for my needs and skill level. You can get what you want ( a gun ) and now you find your self in conflict with the unintended consequences of not doing your research before you made the purchase. And that’s no reason to blame the firearm for your being “gun dumb”. And moreover, no reason to soft pedal the truth of false claims of serious gun failures when in fact the truth is simple. Knowledge and experience is the key. The CSX is a great gun but when purchased by those who don’t understand it is built on a 1911 platform which is not recommended for beginners. The 1911 is 100 year old platform that is still the best defense/ offense handgun platform. But it takes range time and lots of practice ammo to understand and master a 1911. The CSX is an excellent version of the 1911 platform in a concealed carry class pistol. End of story
I've been shooting my G19 for 3 years, I'm used to that trigger. Went in to my local shop and tried the trigger on this and bought it right then. Got home and shot it. Night and day difference, in a good way. I still love my Glock, but this is my baby now. Im having a tough time getting the 12th round in the mag.
Your comment on the Performance Center version is spot on. That may he the ultimate version. Still, I'd like a standard model with an improved trigger and an optic. I love how this gun feels and I'm excited for its final form. What might be even crazier is if they used the same frame and made a DA/SA version...I know. Lunacy.
Only a Glock shooter would be freaked out about the trigger. They are all dependent on the reset to overcome the ugly trigger on a Glock. I'm at 500 rounds through my CSX and I have not had any issues with my trigger.
I've had one since it was released I shoot it pretty darn good. My front strap is solid as of now and as far as the trigger goes I have no issues with it. There might be a false reset but honestly I've never noticed it when at the range. It's a close range carry gun it doesn't have to have a perfect trigger. It's definitely good enough as far as I'm concerned.
What's the big deal with the trigger? If you wanted this as your main edc gun wouldn't you drill and practice with it? I felt like if I had it I'd know subconsciously after two clicks the trigger was successfully reset and in a defensive situation I'd be fine as long as I practiced with it especially if you had practice with double action pistols and etc. But I really think this isn't a serious issue or a deal breaker. I think it's up to personal preference and comfort.
To be honest and fair, those were his 1st shots and he did mention that every gun requires a little getting used to. He didn’t call it a crappy trigger. He just doesn’t see any point in a trigger safety on that kind of gun. I tend to agree, but I also agree that with training you can make it work. I would also point out that he shoots a lot of guns in those conditions with gloves on and doesn’t have that problem with any of them. I’m getting a CSX tomorrow, so I’m glad I’m aware of the false reset and I’m certain I can deal with it.
Some folks are saying they cant get more than 9 rds in the 10 round mag. Along with the 10 rd mag, the ones who can get 10 in it are saying the mag swells to the point where it wont fit into the magwell.
Some might be saying that, but that definitely is not a problem with ours. A lot of smack being talked about this gun by people that don’t even own or have shot one. Facts!
Exactly! I've seen the issue on another gun channel and they demonstrated exactly that point The magazine swells when fully loaded making it nigh on impossible to insert into the gun. The fault also was identified: Stripped the magazine and found that during production they did not affix the top of the magazine spring to the follower. Once they reattached abra-cadara no more issue!
What bout between the 2nd and 3rd shot looks like the reset got u there definitely a flinch then u shot it off better? I am not the only one that caught this
I always have to go in and modify triggers to get them how I like them anyway. In this case I might see if I could ditch the trigger safety if it bothered me. I just like the 1911 influences on this gun. I like hammers...I'm weird that way.
Thank you for this video. I'm a new handgun owner and this is my first handgun. I bought it without looking at any reviews. I have not fired it yet and look forward to practicing with it.
I have a brand new one and if put 500 rounds through it and I have no issues with it whatsoever. I guess if you are a gun finesse type person or have to be just absolutely one-hundred-percent perfect it might not be the gun for them
My CSX "false reset" went away after about 200 rounds. My trigger breaks consistently at 4.5 pounds and that's fine because it has a thumb safety. My only concern was the three dot sights. I painted the front sight with fluorescent green paint and it helped a lot in target acquisition. Comparison with the Sig P365 created a conundrum. Took a while to decide that I was more accurate and enjoyed shooting the CSX more.
I love my CSX. Crisp 5.5 pound trigger that feels better than the one on my Shield Plus. Lighter and much smaller too. Incredible build quality and value. My only complaints..and they are negligible..are the very light return trigger spring and the lack of factory night sights. And both of those will be fixed shortly..along with the wraparound traction grips I just ordered.
I think some of the bigger reviewers have caused a lot of people to miss out on purchasing this great gun. I really enjoy shooting mine, but the more I shoot my buddies hellcat the more I’m starting to like it more. I guess you can’t have too many carry guns lol.
Thaks for the review that I have found to be much more informative & revealing of the CSX. I agree 100% with your findings. This is a great c/c pistol for me. It is not realy a tactial pistol as a Sig 226 or other tactial pistols that are set up for quick bumps/reset and tactial response. As for a good trustworthy c/c pistol with a 12 round mag , I find it very appealing. The trigger is what it is for genralized c/c pistol. It's all metal which I like, pin fired and very accomdating to a 1911 as I have been used to most of my life. Like another gentleman stated, I have ran about 2k of rounds using different manufactors ammo with only having 2 missfire being both times with crappy reloads.
There's a post about the trigger on the Smith & Wesson forums regarding the faux reset. It will more than likely break in, but if you're impatient I figured out a fix for it and put it up there. Just needs some internals polished up so they slide smooth across one another.
for being pretty much the first single action micro double stack. you would think the trigger should be the main attraction. that's why everyone is hating on it.
I will wait till the bugs are worked out on the S&W CSX, if I really want a concealed carry in a larger capacity I will get the S&W Shield Plus it works with the 1.0 shield items I already own...
Its the firing pin block.Smooth it,smooth the bar contacting it and clip 2 coils off the pin block spring and you will have one click reset with a 5lb consistent pull that will get even better with use.Fixed it the first day i had it.
Issues? Not with mine! I think it’s great after 300 rounds. No trigger reset problem ( but it is a bit harder than I would like) But this makes it safer for self defense. I also had to adjust front sight. I find it very reliable and comfortable.
thanks sir this is more of what i thought after watching a couple other vidios and they both complained about it thank you for realy showing the whats actually happening sir
Yes, just like a 1911. If you don’t like that I suppose you could carry it hammer down on a chambered round with the safety on, but you would have to pull the hammer back and disengage the safety, not the best scenario in a self defense situation. Like someone said, it’s best for the shooters who are totally comfortable with the 1911 way of operating.
I went deep into the internals of my CSX and polished all parts that rub together to smooth it out without shooting hundreds of rounds. After careful inspection, I determined the so called "false reset" although there, was a result of what I will call the safety bar coming off the firing pin stop plunger (similar to the one found in a Glock). The bar snaps off the plunger and that manifests itself as a reset before the actual reset which happens when the trigger bar goes forward of the sear as the trigger is released. I blocked the firing pin stop plunger in the depressed position which is the operational position it takes when the trigger is pulled rearward. This took the plunger completely out of the operational picture, put the slide back on and tested for the false reset. It was completely gone. The spring under the plunger is quite robust which I think leads to the reset feel as the safety bar that depressed the plunger in the first place slides off of it upon reset. Polishing components did help, but minor altering of the plunger did the most good. The false reset is mostly gone and the firing pin safety feature still does its job by not letting the firing pin go forward unless the trigger is pulled.
As some one who shoots to reset this will be a issue for me but I'll just have to treat this trigger as a double action revolver trigger like on my 629 and i do agree with with front strap its not that big of a deal mine has some play but im not worried
They made this gun to look like a mini-1911 such as the Mustang, or P938 that uses P365's magazines, kind like best of both worlds. But unlike the other designs it doesn't do a good copy job: instead of 1911 style grip panels it uses M&P-like grip module, so the sides are completely slick when you use the small grip; and instead of tried and true front checkering, they glued a piece of rubber in there like an after thought. It's such an half-assed job that instead of homage it's more like insult to John Browning :)
Great video brother...I have one I bought it primarily as a Concealed carry. love the balance for such a lil gun, after break in no issues with this lil gem from S&W
Watch Hickok45's second video on his sample. At one point he completely remove his finger from the trigger and even then the trigger doesn't reset. IMO there are two issues in play, a sub optimal design for the trigger group and variations in Manufacturing that make these pistols not worthy of consideration for Defense.
When Hickock tested it, he released the trigger completely and it did not reset at all. The problem was not a false reset. It was NO reset. several times. Maybe that was just the example he was using. Hope so.
I don’t feel like it’s a mistake. It’s a very comfortable gun to shoot. I was just trying to clarify what some of the bigger channels were complaining about and showing that it not that big of a deal.
I don't shoot off of reset. For me personally, If I need to defend myself, I can't imagine that I will feel that reset whatsoever. While I do want a gun that's trigger resets as forcefully as it should, this isn't a range toy, so I think that it's questionable to make a massive issue out of the reset. Not trying to seem like a jerk, just trying to keep a real world perspective on this.
I own one and have handled and shot a few of these guns. There are inconsistencies in all of them. Each gun has its own personality. Some have decent triggers, some have terrible triggers. Some have, and some have not a false reset. If you have one that has a 4-5lb trigger with no false reset, go buy a lotto ticket because you are lucky.
trigger reset is an important part of shooting fundamentals for beginners, once skills are refined, you focus more on the beginning of the trigger press. Ultimately, Trigger reset is not what aims the firearm and it is not what sends the round downrange. Some folks are too obsessed on something that ultimately does not matter in a gunfight. My 2 cents worth..
@@jacobhendrickson8935 I don’t know. I didn’t sign you up for a giveaway. You should know if you entered one or not and what it’s for. I have my fingers crossed for you that it’s a new car!!
I like my CSX but the only issue I have with it is the 12rd mag is a absolute BASTARD to release the slide when it is inserted. I have to use use my thumb and fore finger on each side to release it. Its fine with the 10 rd mag though. Seems like my 12 rd mag is a bit out of spec or something.
Have the gun it shoots well very accurate false reset went away with break in (rounds fired) but I’ll have to call bullshit on the front grip panel not acceptable I mean would you be ok with a car if every time you drive it the front bumper fell off I mean you could use duct tape and bailing wire to hold it on ….. but would you really be ok with it …. Don’t think all of them do it mine did and from the vids on here I’m not alone
If all else fails, that's nothing a toothpick and some glow in the dark paint can't fix. It's what I plan on doing with mine, until Trijicon or someone else comes up with a tritium set for it.
So many You tubers have cited issues with the trigger. One with over 7 million followers made a great comment: It might get ya kilt! I would not want to stake my life on it
I have no idea why it became a "thing" to hate on this gun. I picked one up in the range kit for $400 at a local pawn shop and I love it - a micro-sized 1911 that holds 12 rds. Very easy shooting. Trigger issues? Seems exaggerated to me, never experienced any (maybe because I bought it used and it was broken in?) Yeah, would be nice if it had an optics cut and rail, but then it's not that kind of gun. It will fit in your pocket if need be.
I really enjoy the fit in the hand and how mine shoots, but Smith and Wesson QA let a bad one slip by and I had the misfortune of buying it. Mine has a defective and very loose safety lever on the left side of the frame, which presses in and gouges the frame if you try to engage it it with your thumb the way one would if you were right handed like I am. The temp fix is to engage the safety from the right side of the frame with my index finger before I holster, then disengage the safety normally with my thumb when I draw. So far my attempts to reach Smith and Wesson by email have gone unanswered for 3 weeks. I will try calling them to see how they want to deal with fixing it. I will update here on how well they handle it. Again, I really love the idea, how it shoots, and the form factor, but I wish I hadn't gotten unlucky with the one I bought (though googling it seems like a handful of other people have my issue too).
It seems to me the trigger is catching on the firing pin block when the trigger is released. If you remove the slide and carefully pull the trigger and let the hammer down then push the disconnected down(located on the right side of the pistol). Then the trigger will reset with out the false reset. Seem the part of the trigger that depresses the firing pin block when firing is catching in the firing pin release button when the trigger is released. Rounding off the back edge of the firing pin blocker MAY solve the problem. I don’t know. After about 250 rounds I have no problem with the gun as it is. I’m not a gun smith and this is only my opinion.

I wouldn’t call it a double reset, but that is what it is. The first reset is the trigger safety the second reset is the sear reset.
@@g4outdoors Something must be hanging up but is getting worn down smooth if owners are reporting the click is gone after putting 500+ rounds through the pistol.
I would love to see a teardown side by side comparison of a newer pistol and one that has been broken in.
Didn’t even realize that the front grip wasn’t just glued to the front of the grip. Mine is totally solid, have had it since my wife convinced me to get it around Valentines day (better gift than flowers) and have taken it to the range most weekends. My wife likes it even better than I do.
I wish these scammers would leave me alone!
Thanks for review. I am southpaw and this pistol is friendly, easy slide and I like single action autos
Missed one by 30 minutes at my LGS last Saturday.Next one that comes in is mine.Watched everybodys vids,i know what to expect, and cant wait to get my mitts on it!Great reviews and content by the way.Love my P365,P238,Ruger Max380 but this is right to my liking of what all three of those have but blended together.
I would like to thank you gentlemen for your series of videos covering the CSX.
They've been very informative and I have found them incredibly useful.
Thanks Jason!
I put a Talon Grip wrap on my grips and am happy with it, improved my grip on it.
I couldn't get mine to false reset I tried to mine works fine my one main complaint it's the way you have to take out the slide pin for field stripping I can't think of any good reason they did it that way
Agreed, fix these issue and I’d buy one … until then will wait for the gen 2
If you take theag out you can actually look up it and see what the false reset is. It's hitting the ledge and just not going all the way and that is what the false reset it.
I ride motorcycles, precise throttle actuation is a must, it's in constant use.
My new gun, not so much, brought it for a specific reason, the guy sneaking in my daughter's bedroom!
After that, fun toy to look at, with a great story.
Sure hope it isn't my Son-in-law getting off early.
...then it's a bad Story.
🤣
If you know your gun, there is no problem. Every firearm is unique.
Lunacy.
Seems fine. Thanks guys
Bought one when the "fix"happened and have to say, I tried it before I bought it, and I don't have the false safety reset on the trigger.
I polished my trigger bar and it’s super clean now.
Others have reported fully loaded 10-round mags sticking. Any issue with yours?
Some folks are saying they cant get more than 9 rds in the 10 round mag. Along with the 10 rd mag, the ones who can get 10 in it are saying the mag swells to the point where it wont fit into the magwell.
Some might be saying that, but that definitely is not a problem with ours. A lot of smack being talked about this gun by people that don’t even own or have shot one. Facts!
Exactly!
I've seen the issue on another gun channel and they demonstrated exactly that point
The magazine swells when fully loaded making it nigh on impossible to insert into the gun.
The fault also was identified:
Stripped the magazine and found that during production they did not affix the top of the magazine spring to the follower.
Once they reattached abra-cadara no more issue!
What bout between the 2nd and 3rd shot looks like the reset got u there definitely a flinch then u shot it off better? I am not the only one that caught this
That was me flinching. If it was the trigger, I would have definitely said something. Nothing to hide nor any reason to hide anything on this channel.
You are going to love it if this is your first!!
I have a brand new one and if put 500 rounds through it and I have no issues with it whatsoever. I guess if you are a gun finesse type person or have to be just absolutely one-hundred-percent perfect it might not be the gun for them
Love this gun. I recommend Talon Grips
I appreciate the display! I will wait to see when the performance center will do some tweaks!
I love my CSX. Crisp 5.5 pound trigger that feels better than the one on my Shield Plus. Lighter and much smaller too. Incredible build quality and value. My only complaints..and they are negligible..are the very light return trigger spring and the lack of factory night sights. And both of those will be fixed shortly..along with the wraparound traction grips I just ordered.
agree 100 percent with your videos....if people are passing on this cuz of what the big names said they missing out
Yes sir!!
Thank you. Love mine and functions fine. You were spot on.
Could you further explain the process on this in detail, what sandpaper grit did you use to smooth it? And by clip you meant cut off?
Well over 2000 rounds through mine, not one hickup, Zero issues!
Bought one this morning nice size with enough power 9mm
Hello,. I purchased the CSX. Shot fine. A few days later the freaking right side thumb safety has fallen off!!!! WTF???? Anyone had any issues???
Issues? Not with mine! I think it’s great after 300 rounds. No trigger reset problem ( but it is a bit harder than I would like)
But this makes it safer for self defense.
I also had to adjust front sight. I find it very reliable and comfortable.
I don’t have any problems with mine at all. Just addressing the gripes of other TH-camrs.
thanks sir this is more of what i thought after watching a couple other vidios and they both complained about it thank you for realy showing the whats actually happening sir
My pleasure!! I’m not the biggest or best gun channel on the TH-cams, but I like to give as much information about products as possible.
How do you carry it? Cocked loaded safety on?
500rds theough mine and not a single issue. Thinking on buying a second. Too many people want easy.
It's probably the softest shooting micro. I love mine!
Is this gun pocket carry able? Good review!
Extremely so.
Hope so.
My wife just put one on layaway and now hearing about the trigger problems. She's wondering if she made a mistake getting it.
I don’t feel like it’s a mistake. It’s a very comfortable gun to shoot. I was just trying to clarify what some of the bigger channels were complaining about and showing that it not that big of a deal.
@@g4outdoors thanks for the information. Like your show.
I’m not making a big deal of it, I’m just clarifying what other reviewers are complaining about. I don’t have any complaints with the CSX.
Nailed it..
Exactly right. Riding the reset in a self defense encounter is a recipe to get oneself killed.
My CSX is a nice pistol, no complaints.
Yea, it’s crazy how inconsistent the run of these pistols has been
trigger reset is an important part of shooting fundamentals for beginners, once skills are refined, you focus more on the beginning of the trigger press. Ultimately, Trigger reset is not what aims the firearm and it is not what sends the round downrange. Some folks are too obsessed on something that ultimately does not matter in a gunfight. My 2 cents worth..
Great gun. Love mine!
Got a comment saying I’ve been picked for the giveaway?? How to proceed?
Just proceed I guess! Congrats!
@@g4outdoors what giveaway? Did I win something?
@@g4outdoors I thought it was a message from you. Guess it’s some kind of spam.
@@jacobhendrickson8935 I don’t know. I didn’t sign you up for a giveaway. You should know if you entered one or not and what it’s for. I have my fingers crossed for you that it’s a new car!!
I like mine… the aftermarket will sort it out shortly if you don’t like the stock trigger… that said mine smoothed out after a couple hundred rounds
These videos make me happy...
Trigger happy 🤣😂🤣
I think your right on all aspects. But I’ve not personally felt this trigger. I’m looking to get that 10mm not sure on 4” or 4.6”.
I have ZERO issues with mine not 1 problem my opinion and I'm entitled to it. It is a great carry firearm
Can't believe they screwed this up. I've been waiting for a single action high cap micro 9mm since the p365 first came out.
The only complaint I have with mine is the accuracy. Its not as accurate with a wide range of ammo as other little micro 9s I’ve had.
One of the best micro 9mm on the market period 👌 my only gripe is no night sights
Inevitably, they will come out with a performance center model that will be crispy. Hopefully with tritium.
If all else fails, that's nothing a toothpick and some glow in the dark paint can't fix. It's what I plan on doing with mine, until Trijicon or someone else comes up with a tritium set for it.
Great review
Thanks!
I think that in their whatever wisdom S&W included it as safety to shoot deliberately. But it can bite them in the arse if they don't correct it
Possibly, however, did the gun in whatever instance operate as intended? I get what you’re saying though.
So many You tubers have cited issues with the trigger. One with over 7 million followers made a great comment: It might get ya kilt! I would not want to stake my life on it
I see some hesitation on TH-cam over this gun....especially the trigger. I don't get it! The trigger is fine on mine and I'm happy with my CSX.
Thanks for sharing - how did S&W end up handling your safety fix?
My CSX is amazing. I have no issues.
Most won’t unless they watch the big channel reviews.
I don't shoot off reset. Love mine
Well the p365 sucked at the beginning and they fixed it so hopefully smith and Wesson fixes the csx problems
