You don't see the drive when continuing the install or in Disk Utility? It could be that there is a too old file system present or something else is wrong with the drive maybe. In most cases, by erasing the drive with Disk Utility, this gets solved. Your device should be supported normally.

Must this process be done on the machine you are installing ventura on? Or can I prep the usb on a separate machine and then install on the target device?
You can do this from another machine/model but as the OpenCore config is hardware-specific, you first need to select the correct model from the Settings options in the OpenCore Legacy Patcher application. Only tried this once and it worked just fine. Good luck :)

Hi, super tutorial- everything worked fine for me. I have one question: how do I update my mac from version 13.2.1 to version 13.3 without losing all my data? Is there a way??
You can just update it as any other Mac. The only thing that can happen is that the patches that were applied are being overwritten. Just make sure you download a copy of the Patcher before doing the update, then run the root patches after the update completed.
That is possible. You can do this from another machine/model but as the OpenCore config is hardware-specific, you first need to select the correct model from the Settings options in the OpenCore Legacy Patcher application. All the rest should be the same. Good luck!

This doesn't work if Ventura is installed on a USB SSD? Because I just did that, installed fine, runs fine, it's just it doesn't boot to it without the USB pen drive plugged. It keeps booting into the internal HDD in my iMac. Open Core keeps popping up at startup to install it to disk, I installed it multiple times, still doesn't work. Any ideas? Is it because the SSD is connected via USB or maybe something went wrong?
Did you install OpenCore on the internal HDD in your iMac? I think that should work but probably not if you install openCore to your USB SSD as the Mac will most likely not directly boot from that USB SSD.
@@jensdbeApparently the issue was indeed that I kept installing OpenCore on the USB SSD (which I thought I should) but after your reply I installed it on the internal HDD and now it works. USB drive no longer needed to be plugged in, after I turn the iMac on the HDD and SSD options appear for like 5 seconds and then boots into Ventura. So thanks a lot! Now I'm confident in trying Sonoma too. Then sometime in the future probably replace the HDD with an SSD altogether and give this beautiful machine a new life.

For the same model you can just re-use the same USB drive. For different models, you will need different USB drives but can create them on one machine but just make sure the model is set correctly in OpenCore Legacy Patcher
@@jensdbe another question if I have the same model from which points onwards should I continue can you tell me the time stamp in the video to make it easy.
Any external drive should work. In theory you could also create a new partition and copy the installer to that. This is not supported from OCLP so you would need to manually make it as a bootable installer using the terminal. Didn't try that so not sure.
So far it is running pretty good. Haven't really come across anything negative. Although I also don't see such a big improvement or such in comparison with Monterey. It kind of feels the same :)

I I want to try out Ventura on a partition on a new SSD drive, do I need to go through a external usb storage on a second usb port or it is easier than installing on internal SSD and can install it directly on the partition? (like on the stick) and I choose from which drive to boot from during startup?
The USB drive contains the installer and not the actual OS that gets installed. So still easier to create a USB drive like in the video and then prepare and select your new SSD drive. I think it should also work with a separate partition on an internal drive but haven't tried that. During boot you will be able to choose where to boot from. Either from the original bootloader (by holding down Alt/Option at boot) or in OpenCore, once installed.
Dear sir,I have a late 2008 macbook. After installation of Ventura, the trackpad doesn't work, there's no driver for the trackpad. Neither does the airdrop function. I have applied post patches so many times, but the problems still exist. Do you have the same experience as I do? How to solve the problem? Would you pls be kind enough to give me a reply?
Don't have experience with it myself but I think this is related to legacy UHCI/OHCI support in Ventura as you can see here: github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/issues/1021 For now the recommendation is to not upgrade to Ventura on these model Macbooks unfortunately.
Can you Create Multiple macOS with the same method on a Single USB Drive for unsupported models, cause I hate the idea of having 4 drives for different OS. Thanks,
For the installation, as far as I know, you will need a separate USB drive for each version you want to install. Maybe there is a method using the OpenCore boot loader and creating separate installation images but haven't tested that.
That is possible. You can do this from another machine/model but as the OpenCore config is hardware-specific, you first need to select the correct model from the Settings options in the OpenCore Legacy Patcher application. All the rest should be the same. Good luck!

my Mac mini boot from flash drive how can fixed please thank u
Check the last part of the video, you need to build ans install opencore to your internal drive after the installation.
It Works beautifully, thank you so mucho 😂
So I did this, and now my Mac Pro runs OS Ventura. I'm not that familiar with Mac, and the question is as long as i have Ventura 13.5 installed, will the updates for 13.6.13.7 etc work by just running "check for updates"....or do you have to install the later versions with the Opencore Legacy Patcher?
I did all the things, but when i reach recovery screen to install, my internal drive is not showing. I have a macbook pro 2013 late.
You don't see the drive when continuing the install or in Disk Utility?
It could be that there is a too old file system present or something else is wrong with the drive maybe. In most cases, by erasing the drive with Disk Utility, this gets solved. Your device should be supported normally.
@@jensdbe Yes, its showing just my external drive and "media drive" with zero kb. No internal drive to install ventura. Funny thing is, when i try to install monterey, everything is perfect. Dont know whats the problem with ventura.
@@deanmactavish8529 Did you end up finding a solution for this? I have this same issue after doing an internal SSD swap. For some reason when booting into Recovery mode, it cannot see any drives, but as soon as I shut down and turn back on, it boots fine. I dont really get it.
very clear and nice tutorial..thank you si much my friend.Long Live.and God Bless.
Thank you for the tutorial, why Apple Maps not function for iMac 2011 mid 2011?
is anyone having problems connecting your Magic Mouse #2 in your freshly installed your open core legacy on your late 2013 27" iMac ? I am using a hard wired mouse and when I try to connect my Apple Mouse #2 when I push the bottom to connect it says connected and 2 to 3 seconds later it disconnected, I watched a video on connecting apple mouse #2, took a cable and connected it to the Mac and then to mouse, Clicked on bluetooth and clicked on connected and it connected but not to wireless connection.
Another update: On Macbook Air early 2014 Ventura installs without a problem, but the Mac is really slow for it, so I had to go back to Maverics.
Can you check if all patches are applied successfully? Just re-run OpenCore Legacy Patcher and select Post Install Root Patch
@@jensdbe Thanks for the reply, Jens... I'm already back on Big Sur :D Maybe someone else can provide feedback on MB Air Mid/Late 2014? :D I really don't want to go all over again the process haha
Hi. Bluetooth not working After this.
Thanks, my 21,5 late 2013 has a new lease on life with a new ssd running ventura 13.1
Good to hear. Glad to see this helped.
Still ok? I have iMac 2013 and thinking of doing this.
@Pete Walsh yeah, it's still running strong with 13.2.1
Thank you for your very interesting video... A silly question! Once you have installed Ventura with open Core, can you update normally for Mac software? and security update?
merci pour votre très intéressante vidéo … une question un peu-etre idiote ! est ce que une fois qu'on a installé Ventura avec open Core on peut faire les mises à jour normalement pour les logiciels du Mac ? et mise à jour de sécurité ?
Updates come in through the regular channel but in some cases it might be needed to re-apply some of the patches if things got overwritten. So always good to keep a copy of the OCLP app handy before updating.
I dont know why I got endless rebutting on the last screen when it should show %. rebut and rebut patch does not work I tried NV120 and RX580 video same thing :( I did Monterey OS
I revived my Mini 2012 thanks to you and Opencore!
Question: is there a way to update or freshly install Ventura on a Hackintosh from the El Capitan era?
Good to hear. Not sure about upgrading a Hackintosh. Not enough experience with that unfortunately.
macOS Ventura can support old model iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2009)
For now only up to Monterey is supported. The same method can be used, just select Monterey instead of Ventura.
but what do i do if i do not want to start with a fresh hard drive?
i dont to lose my personal files!
@@joeybagofdoughnuts6664 you should be able to select your existing install and it will be upgraded. But in any case it is always a good idea to have a proper backup. Especially when doing things like this :)
Thanks for the video, took me 2-3 hours but worked perfectly !
Great tutorial thanks.
Hello OpenCore is safe ? I have tons of data in my macbook and i want to upgrade os
I've never upgraded a native install to one with OpenCore but don't see why this would not work. In any case a good backup is always a good idea, especially if you are going to try this.

I try to boot the installer but it won't me
As far as I see, both of these will not grt Wifi or support for USB. Also without graphical acceleration, it's just not workable. The mouse is moving so sluggish it will drive you crazy. I'd recommend to wait a bit more as the OCLP team is still working on fixing these things.

Thanks for the video it is great and easy to follow and I am about to upgrade my MBP from Big Sur to Ventura. What I am worried about is my data and my programs. Question 1: do I have to re-install my programs like MS Word and Acrobat, after upgrading to Ventura? I have a complete backup on an external disk and Question 2: If Ventura does not improve the performance or something goes wrong during installation, can I just go back to Big Sur using the time machine backup? I am running a MBP 15" mid 2012, i7, 16 GB, with Big Sur installed with the use of OCLP which is running fine. Could any one please advise me?

Hi, super tutorial- everything worked fine for me. I have one question:
how do I update my mac from version 13.2.1 to version 13.3 without losing all my data? Is there a way??
You can just update it as any other Mac. The only thing that can happen is that the patches that were applied are being overwritten. Just make sure you download a copy of the Patcher before doing the update, then run the root patches after the update completed.
My Mac mini old hard drive is broken and I've got new SSD so can I create Reboot USB by using my other Mac laptop? Thank you.
That is possible. You can do this from another machine/model but as the OpenCore config is hardware-specific, you first need to select the correct model from the Settings options in the OpenCore Legacy Patcher application. All the rest should be the same. Good luck!
What is appeared in instalation process? (An error occurred preparing the software update.) I did step by step what is it? Help please
Try to run Disk Utility (it can be from the environment which gives you that error) Then run First Aid on the drive/partition on which you try to install Ventura. Followed by a re-try. This has helped me before in the same situation.

You try to run the First Aid option in Dist Utility after selecting your USB drive in the left section.
If that doesn't help, you could retry to Erase the drive properly or try with another USB drive.
After Ventura installer is created the "build and install open core" is not highlighted for me to use it. Also when it was done creating the installer it did not give me the option to install Open Core si'm stuck. Any help?
On which model are you trying this?
@@jensdbe i think Infigured it out I was doing it on an M1 macbook air too new for Opencore but after using a different device a 2016 macbook pro the files wouldn’t copy over. It said it was done but when I check the flash drive there is nothing in it.
Unfortunately now it won’t boot up. On a boot loop.

What are the things I have to do and What are the things I don't have to repeat for all the 5 MACs

For the same model you can just re-use the same USB drive.
For different models, you will need different USB drives but can create them on one machine but just make sure the model is set correctly in OpenCore Legacy Patcher
@@jensdbe another question if I have the same model from which points onwards should I continue can you tell me the time stamp in the video to make it easy.
any way to do this without usb?

Don't have experience with it myself but I think this is related to legacy UHCI/OHCI support in Ventura as you can see here: github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/issues/1021
For now the recommendation is to not upgrade to Ventura on these model Macbooks unfortunately.
Can you create the bootloader USB off another Macbook? Or does it have to be the computer you’re updating?
That is possible. You can do this from another machine/model but as the OpenCore config is hardware-specific, you first need to select the correct model from the Settings options in the OpenCore Legacy Patcher application. All the rest should be the same. Good luck!

Not sure why this happens but it could be that Apple actively blocks this as your device is officially unsupported...
