    Just ordered the GM Camera... We have a mounting point already on the trailer`s back wall, but that is at the top of the trailer, so I will likely only use it for the backup feature also... Will see :D

    It sure would be nice to have a wireless version that would integrate with the OEM system

      I found out that on the newer GM trucks the power to the trailer is reduced and you need to get an adapter so that the wireless camera gets sufficient power to function.

    Thanks for the overview. Extended family member just bought a used 2022 Z71 and believes this doesn't need the add-on camera...LOL.
    Oh well, I am sure the dealer will be selling these in the parts department as folks want them/break them/lose them/etc.

    How are you liking it so far? I have the Grand Design Imagine XLS 22BHE and a 2024 Sierra 1500 I’ll be towing it with. Just about to purchase this camera system. I also mostly just want it as a rear camera but for the price and wired right into the main screen it seems like a no brainer over some cheapo sketchy system or even more expensive systems that are just a camera. I like how there’s also backup assist built in with this too. Thats what I’m excited about as I don’t have a ton of trailering experience. Do the backup assist options help much? Thanks

    Thank you for the Video. I have a RAM 3500 Dually, but very similar system and I this is very helpful. What clips did you use to mount the cable to the back wall to get the cable down under the trailer? Thank you again. Content like this is so helpful!

      @ktkamping4975  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Shane. Thanks for watching and the nice comments. Those clips came with the kit. I have seen those for sale at hardware stores. Its actually a pad that sticks on with a small panduit strap to hold the cable. Once again thanks and have a great weekend. Kent

  • @richardsnyder9767
    @richardsnyder9767 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    That's where my bathroom is so installing that might be a problem. Also, trying to backup with the trailer seems it might be an issue since it seems that the camera is calibrated as if it is installed on the rear of the truck vs the perspective of rear of the trailer. All in all though, it seems to be an easy installation. Far easier than my Furrion.

    Any chance you can tell me how far the camera sticks out from the mounting surface? I want to mount it to a cargo trailer with a ramp type rear door and need to make sure it won't hit the ground when the ramp is down.

    Great video, very helpful! I do have a question. As you said, GM suggests routing the cable over the roof of the trailer. Like you, I want to route it underneath. It looks like you left it in the mount as it came from GM and then bent the cable into a U to route it back downward under the trailer. How has this worked out for you? Any long term issues?

      @@ktkamping4975 I saw another video where the installer ran the wiring under the camper as you did. They removed the camera from its mount, routed the cable downward, re-installed the camera to the mount and it looked 100% like that was the way it was supposed to be.

    Will the rear camera view stay on screen continuously when driving at highway speeds or does it time out?
    When driving at night and a vehicle approaches from the rear do their headlights whiteout your viewing screen?
    If backing into a campsite at night is there sufficient light to see clearly?
    Does the camera have IR lights and camera function for low light?

    • @ktkamping4975

      The camera will stay on screen continuously if wanted. We never travel at night so can’t really answer other questions. Sorry. Thanks for watching and have a great day. As far as I know the camera has no low light type function.

    • @ktkamping4975
      @ktkamping4975  ปีที่แล้ว

      It only took a couple of minutes of driving slow and straight for mine to calibrate. How long is your trailer? I think there is a maximum length that they will work on. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great week.

    Video was very well done and easy to watch with very good information.

    • @ktkamping4975
      @ktkamping4975  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David. Thanks for watching and commenting. The camera was from GM. You have to have the right package on your truck for the camera to work. There is a length limit for trailers but can not remember right off hand what it is. I know people have found ways to work around that if its close. I know that the GMC package is called Pro Grade, not sure on Chevrolet but I know they have it. Once again thanks and have a great day.

      @@ktkamping4975 Thanks for info. Did you mount the camera using the bolts? I was thinking about using Velcro so I do not have to drill holes in the back wall of the camper. Any thoughts on that?

    • @ktkamping4975
      @ktkamping4975  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David. I did mount with bolts. Not sure how well velcro would hold up with the bouncing etc. I think I saw a video on here of a guy using some kind of double sided tape. Not sure who it was though. I figured if I ever got rid of trailer I would remove camera and leave bolts installed. I did not want the camera to come loose from trailer.
