I loved the original Bubble Bobble arcade since I first saw it. Since I didnt have many chances to play the arcade, I got this game as famiclone catridge back in 95. Got into a big fight with my parents, since I took all the money I had saved from what my uncles and aunts gave me for christmas and bought it on my own. I was 8 years old. Amazing memories, countless hours spent on this and Adventure Island 3 on that old famiclone, and on a 14 inch CRT TV. I miss those times :)

That takes me back. I played the HELL out of this game back in the 90's. Just got my NES working again so I'll have to pop it in. I remember that this game was much nicer than Bubble Bobble 1, had no idea till a few years ago that it was so rare though.
I love the graphics because it remind me of Kirby's Adventure, plus the final boss looks awesome. Super Red Skull Brother! What an awesome Bubble Bobble game. However, some of the bosses including him don't look like they belong in Bubble Bobble. Same with some of Kirby's bosses.
The cycle boss felt out of place for a Bubble Bobble boss. Same goes for the Red Skull Brother (Final form) in terms of design. I can even say the same for the last stage, too. Pretty dark, once again, for a Bubble Bobble game.
In Bubble Memories the final boss literally gets decapitated before transforming into his final form and in Rainbow Islands the final bosses' blood after you kill it can give you a game over with just one touch. Bubble Bobble has always been a little dark.

Though this a late reply, the answer is the more you progress, the sooner it appears. Also, if you get killed by that enemy once, his next appearance (in that same level) takes place much sooner than it's supposed to.
I didn't know about the Bubble Bobble system of elemental bubbles and the different effects they have. Great Long Play. I also found it interesting that you maintained about 40+ extra lives until the last boss and lost almost 10. It seems like unless you have a pretty big store of extra lives the last boss would be nearly impossible.
I love this game one of my favorites remember playing it as a kid on my nes wow this game online it’s rare and so expensive but I see why it is the bubble bobble series is so cute and fun to play I finally got it on a multi cart for the Nintendo ds it has a total of 200 games in 1 there all nes no repeats.😃
This is a pretty rare game. These things go for large amounts of cash. I saw one at a local collectible shop for about $274, and that's just for the cartridge alone. If you have a sealed or boxed copy it can easily fetch between $400 to $600 I'm not joking! If anyone has an actual copy of Bubble Bobble part 2, you're pretty fortunate to have such a gaming treasure and/or a giant wad of cash if you plan on selling it.
+111EJG I have a copy, I'd never think of selling it, no matter the value. It's value is worth far more to me than someone else. Buddy of mine got it for me for $95 a few years ago. It's cart only, but that doesn't matter to me at all.
Not nearly as good as the original game, nor the other sequels, but this game is still loads of fun. A copy ran my friend $95 many years ago, but it is on my collection.
I feel like people overrate the NES port of Bubble Bobble 1 but forget this one, which was made for the NES hardware (and it shows, but nowadays why play the NES version of Bubble Bobble 1 when you can emulate it on MAME or even get a PCB of it?) but whatever you do "loop back" when you fall down the pit I dunno what you are talking about...
Hm? It was... supposed to be this fast? The game played for me at 0.5 Playback Speed but I guess that's what I get for having the game in one of those 1000 games in 1 for PS1. It was charming regardless. The music was very calming. Made me very sluggish when I get out of the game tho. The slow lullaby like music gets to you 😂

yikes Taito set the time limit WAY too low on the second half of the game; it seemed to be eight or nine seconds at most. It was only THREE seconds in the place where you had to let the skelmonsta hit you to proceed. And then they didn't bother to set any music for time out mode, so it is a mixture of the start of the level tunes and silence. I don't understand how there are so many comments praising the music with that going on.

Truly amazing music...one day people will start designing things again for the nes on a new level. You can make games, like some of the best games for the snes ,,,for the NES...people just havint really done it on good scale yet...you can make games exactly or better than smw 2 yoshi island work on NES...

Wii U homebrew is why im able to play these. but the gamepad is what bothers me. i would've had a better experience if the gamepad was working. Gamepad has very bad signal (have to put the gamepad DIRECTLY to the console in order for it to work). well atleast i have a Wii Classic Pro control and a Wii U pro control to play. Anways Bubble Bobble part 2 is very great. i started playing back in june. i have yet to beat the game.

The giant enemy on Round 10 looks like a giant version of the wind up enemy, Bubble Buster (or Zen-Chen). Very cool.

Don't let the original Bubble Bobble fool you, it is quite dark too, especially the bad ending with the creepy slow music playing over it.
