- Looking at getting a used 47rh/47re/48re transmission and you're not sure what you're looking at? Or maybe you're selling/rebuilding yours and want to know what its got? This video is just what you need!
Assuming you have the transmission out of the truck I show you how to identify if it has a billet input shaft, output, aftermarket billet single or triple disc torque converter, and billet internal parts (should you pull the pan off). If the transmission is still in the truck I point out how to identify what torque converter it may have as well as point out some things to look for if its been rebuilt.
My goal with this video is to inform you about these things in the hope that it prevents you from getting scammed/buying things you didnt need/getting a fair price for your transmission/or simply learning something new!

On a billet torque converter with a drain plug like that you can pull the plug out and look inside to see if it’s a single or triple disc. If you can see a disc, it’s triple if not, it’s a single. Also a dead giveaway if you want to know 47re vs 48re externally, the 48re will have an o-ring on the input shaft.
Sweet! Another thing for the 48re is it has a specific neutral safety thing that uses a screw to hold it in while 47re and old threads in
Keep up the videos, the ones i’ve watched so far are so informative and descriptive. Great job, can’t wait to see more!
Awesome, thank you! I’ve been really trying to keep a consistent level of quality where they are nice and concise but with everything you need to know. The longer videos where I want to include more information I add in time skips for those who want to move to the next topic
Good information for me.
This channel is gold
