I met the band for the first time in 2018. Joey was a cool guy. I let him know he influenced me as a singer, one of the first I learned to sing clean and high notes from. He voice has matured and and sounds smoother with the latest albums.

Love Joey. Such a good dude and, alongside Dan Spitz's unique note choices and Charlie's drumming, he really helped Anthrax stand out from the pack.

I highly respect this man and he is one of the last heavy metal singers alive who is hitting those high notes and he is also a nice dude I've met him I am just a belladonna fan when he left I left anthrax as a fan those four guys have the magic and I think jon d is a great fit with them they are firing on all cylinders right now as far as I'm concerned for all kings is a better album than metallica new album that is all my opinion I'm not a bush hater just for me belladonna anthrax without no anthrax

Anthrax had it's days of doom when bush was there.
Even they were about to disband at one moment and then Joey came back and they made a massive come back with 'Worship Music' and 'For All Kings'

my favorite singer of all time. not even close. saw anthrax live and these dudes are upwards of 50 years and are killing it live. joey sounds SO INSANELY GOOD on the new record, his voice is just perfect. im somewhat gay for joey actually.... holy shit

Didn't see Anthrax with Joey first time round but was there for the Reunion tour and was blown away by his voice and what a nice guy he is, was also blown away by Dan and how fluid and classy he is. Anthrax have never received the plaudits they deserve and are my favourite of the "Big Four" by a country mile.

a few days before this interview they played Newcastle. a lass at the front was kicked in face by a crowd surfer. joey noticed this and bent down to see if she was ok, then went backstage and came back with ice for her. wonder how many singers would do that

Joey is actually a great gentleman when asked about the Bush era. This was the perfect example of "perfect recipe". I loved John Bush voice in Armored Saint, Joey's voice is perfect for Anthrax BOTH are great singers but each needs to be right where they are at.

yea, what you said. John was cool in AS but just didn't feel like the man for the job in Anthrax. not to say he isn't talented of course

Hey, I saw this guy once! Lol.
Honestly, he inspired me to sing more than anyone else. I may be a bass, and singing material nowhere close to his, but 4 years ago State of Euphoria's accidental discovery while researching for health class and from there I became obsessed with Anthrax for a time. Finally got to see them live in May of this year, and was not disappointed by them at all. Got my first tour shirt!
Side note: I took a picture of Joey, which I still have, and right after he saw me in the audience with my phone out and flipped me off. Lol

@@anonymousdiego7594 Him and Charlie can be fucking ruthless for sure. I was gutted when they booted Joey back in the day. First thing I knew about it was seeing a premiere of Only. I was like where the fuck is Joey? Who. The. Fuck. Is. He?!!

Scott Ian and Charlie shouldcbe ashamed of themselves for the way they treated this guy. Kicked him out when they wanted to go alternative. That failed. Then they got that Dan Nelson guy to try to mimmick Pantera and Slipnot. That failed. Joey came back and saved them from further embarrassment.

    • @hinjurock70
      @hinjurock70 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Not exactly alternative - John Bush is and always was a metal singer. They just added some grunge influences. And it didn't fail - Sound Of White Noise was a great album and it did well. After that Dan Spitz quit and that fucked up the band chemistry, so the following albums weren't as good.

@@hinjurock70 i was just gonna say, it was danny leaving and forming bad blood with scott and charlie is what killed it in the end.

Always felt this dude was just a few years too late to the scene, and got a raw deal when he was pushed out of the band. He is an amazing vocalist, but Anthrax was blowing up right at the transitional time where Heavy Metal singers started to have like a gruff scream style, instead of the operatic styles like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest were using. That's why Metallica was able to transition into the new era so easily was because of Hetfield's voice.

For all kings is one of the best album's that anthrax have ever released, there's hardly any rock, heavy metal, or thrash metal bands that make GOOD records thirty years into their career,
Compare any of the big fours last album's and none of them sound fresh and energetic except for the stuff from anthrax, I mean relentless from slayer is awful, its tired and dull, the last album they did that sounded fresh and creative was world painted blood, take out Dave Lombardo and the creativity is gone, I think it might of worked if Dave was on it because he rights in a slayer way ,
Any way, worship music and for all kings are the best two thrash album's of the last ten years easily.
