Yes, that's right. But can every builders use lathe? I also recommend to use lathe for full-time drum builders. Thses kind of zigs are useful for hobby builders and small business builder.
A lathe is dangerous for turning drums. You need high speed to turn properly and shells do explode. This setup here is waaaaay more safe. Use your brain.

It is better with trey bit, rounded shape at thr corner.
