Great video Graham. Will you get a NOS rag to shove into the wheel arch?

In 1986 I sold my EJ that was bought off dad who bought it when it was three years old ....Dad was a mechanic and serviced the ol' 138 grey motor often...the engine had done 380 000 miles when I sold it with only the head being taken off and replaced with new valves....the bottom end was original...untouched....not bad mileage for the old girl.....

Lol…Graham your optimism of opening up a 60 year old car and being surprised that someone has already been there and left their sock behind cracks me up…nobody but nobody working on these old cars back in the 70s and 80s expected them to still be around in the 21st century lol, we thought we’d be driving flying cars by now lol…the EJ is coming along nicely…love your work 👍…cheers 🍻

Love watching your content mate, always very informative. That was a great example of why the rust repairs are next to impossible to quote too btw. In the early days of rare spares they only supplied Holden repair sections and only ever started supplying ford stuff maybe only 20 odd yrs ago. I’m tipping they’ve had plenty more yrs practice building holden sections. Just a theory, I dunno to be honest.

I was thinking they concentrated on Holden stuff early on as well👍 I wasn’t sure because I only needed Holden stuff and didn’t notice they had no Ford stuff? If I wasn’t using them I would have been going to “Holparts”🙂

Good effort mate keep it up. Your right Rear Spares are more towards Holden. Thats not such a bad thing though.😁

that wheel arch lip is tilted down like that because i suspect the inner tub lip is pushed in from accident. slide hammer fix ????

I think all old cars are just one giant can of worms good job your not paying someone to fix it hey graham
That why I don’t have a really old car to fix
It would have been easier I think to replace the whole quarter panel if you had one 👍👍

    • @xacoupeguy

If I had one I'd have already changed it haha I was going to change it with the one I cut up but it wasn't.good enough

Looks like a piece of prison uniform hastily stashed away to avoid detection by the authorities. Quarter panel damage sustained during the pursuit...It makes you wonder!

Nice work must b a proper moisture trap between the inner guard and wing ! Was there much in the way of rust proofing back then by the looks they were big on underseal 😂😂least u know you’ll have a gd solid car. Could even electrifier it 😂😂😂😂😳😳😎

Hi Graham, could you please tell me what tool and sort of disc you're using to grind down the welds around the 23 minute mark? Is it just a sanding disc or a metal grinding disc? It looks like a die grinder but I like the compact size and right angle of yours. Thanks.
