Good to see the old EJ coming along. I've had several of them in my younger years. I remember many of them had ill-fitting panels, and yes, you know someone's got an old Holden when you hear that door open. 😁😁
Thanks for the EJ update, Graham. I will look forward to this whole car being completed fully restored. To whatever its factory condition was. Cheers from William.
always good to watch your vids be it tank, jeep or cars. i get a chuckle when you get excited over the typical old car squeaky door. great to see progress on this, maybe some vids on the Landau hiding in the shed in front of the EJ would be nice to see too.👍
The guard looks great on the EJ. While expensive I think the repair of a rusty old one to anywhere near that level would probably work out just as if not more expensive in time alone.
Few memories here. My first car was an EJ wagon - lime green with a white roof back in 1971. That door sound gave me a bit of a chubby - a standard feature for the time. Payed $350 for it, now a front guard costs 3 times the price of the car!
Dad bought me a EH when I was about 14 in 1975 for $200 to rebuild not the I really knew what I was doing, but the rust backed then was really bad. I’m surprised they last this long.
Graham, it almost fits like glove, glad my comment about it being 1/2 inch out in every dimension did not jinx you!😅 for a repro, 60 years after the fact I cannot find a fault in it, worth a grand every day when original is either unobtanium or garbage! Open out a hole or two with a die grinder and its done, cannot get any better than that!
Thanks Graham , Just the video I needed .. I ordered a set of these guards after your last video so feeling a lot better after your test fit video showed they are not too bad on fitment :) Even though my originals are probably better than average I decided to fit new ones to avoid removing 60 years of tar and paint and put my factory fenders away as spares .
Luv an EJ mate, I learnt to drive in one on the farm as a 10 year old!!! One day I’ll do one! Still chasing diff speck on the ZH fairly mate? Being 302 wondering if it’s the 9 inch or 8-3/4 disc brake Borgy? 🤔
I knew the door sound before you opened it! The anticipation was palpable. I’m pretty sure those side opening ash trays were designed to face the driver. Panels are looking sweet.
@@xacoupeguyholden went to a lot of trouble to get that squeak just right and perfectly replicated in every car of that era! I had an EH, exactly the same!😅
Hey Graham that fitment is absolutely awesome considering it's straight out of the box. That gives me hope mate. It makes the price a little bit easier to swallow. Thanks for the content mate.
My dads EH panel van doors would go click click like a gun and that noise is to let you know if you’re kids are getting in to the car while you’re doing the gardening
you had better luck than we had with the guards we fitted they must of improved the pressing that ash tray was just an accessory avaliable for ej/eh's hard to find we seam sealed the inside support panel so water can't get in between the 2 panels the gap on your sills a bit wider than theywere but i'm sure you can adjust it
i had one of those, gutless and thirsty, it was not much faster than my mk 1 zephyr, l owned 10 years earlier, except the holden had better brakes, put me off buying another holden l went to a valiant after that, just as thirsty but heaps more power

Omg the door sound, that brings back memories. Did my living my old man’s eh wagon.
I do enjoy the longer vids and I’m looking forward to the EJ progressing.
Short long always a good time 😂 loving it mate.

Looking really nice Graham... should be a real beauty when you finish, cheers

I think the guards look real good 👍
looking good! Call it a success!
Can't wait to see back on the EJ mate, going to turn out mint 👍

you can hear it in my voice, i was genuinely impressed with the fitment
@@xacoupeguy yes I could hear your surprise. I was just as shocked as it's never that easy. I should pick up my new guards this week, here's hoping!

Yep, definitely going to be pink

rarely

Looking good Graham. I like your chosen colour (or your wife’s chosen colour). Very nice. 👍
My question is how thick is the steel in the new guards compared to the 63 64 ones ?
The feel a smidgen thinner but not by much
@@xacoupeguy ok cool thanks for the advice
😢The ash tray would from a car built in the 1962. I had a EJ with the same sort of ash tray
has it got a gray motor in it ej had rad 149 or173
grey motor
I must have watched that footage of the EHs being built a thousand times. Do you happen to know what show or film that was from?
not a clue and the dvd i had also had loads of really old footage, im super annoyed ive lost it

I did mention that the bonnet hinges are stuffed so it won't show good alignment but I did after filming i shut the bonnet and it was very nice gapped

seam seal it to death. and avoid rain

Today is Christmas with 2 videos. Will the car be painted in Barbie Rose?
penola rose is the colour and its actually a factory colour

one day

Pretty good for repro guards. I seen much worse late model aftermarket panels for newer cars.
Me too, some of the worse reproduction panels I ever saw were for a VE commodore when I worked at Carisbrook crash
