seventeen is a self made group. literally. they stood at the very bottom and built themselves up to the top. now they’re in the top 5 most successful group. pledis don’t deserve any credit for that at all.

@@justzzzzletgo HYBE doesn't manages any groups under HYBE. HYBE only gives financial support for them and explosure. Every groups under HYBE are managed by their labels according to the contract. Ex: Enhypen is managed by Belift and Seventeen is managed by Pledis. According to the contract HYBE will give full freedom to the labels and if they were still treated badly they wouldn't renew their contact.

"Purchasing more than 50% of a target firm's stock and other assets allows the acquire to make decisions about the newly acquired assets even without the approval from the company's other shareholders." to make it short, hybe acquired 85% of pledis. well from my perspective ever since hybe acquired svt the only thing they’ve gained was weverse and more exposure on western shows. No hate but there was act more loss than gain..pledis does run independently, but as hybe owns 85% of the company whether they deny it or not they still do have a lot of say in how pledis should run. i don’t know how much hybe makes over pledis because that data was never released to the public. it’s a bit naive to say they don’t make that much off pledis because just last year alone svt sold million plus copies on one ep alone hehehe. Of course both of them gain benefits from each other😅😊

True at least I hope more kpop stans will appreciate svt music more, not just as dancing king bcs they're all rounders group, have top tier vocals like Dk, seungkwan, woozi etc & have one of the best discography music in kpop industry! All their b-sides tracks are amazing, even their Japanese songs are top tier:) they even made special birthday song for fans anniversary on 14feb tho♡~♥~ And seventeen never follow the trend. Woozi even mentioned that they made music not to follow the trend, but to express their feelings and made people happy or give comfort to listener. And I'm feeling touched by what Hoshi said in magazine too: "I feel like the SEVENTEEN we are today comes from all the growing and changing we've done. I always wondered what the trendiest music is, but trends change so fast that there's no one answer. So, I decided it's best not to think about trends and just do what you want to do and be sincere about it. Obviously, trendy music and concepts and things like that are important, but if that's all you are aiming for, you're limiting yourself and you'll lose sight of your goal. Hence, we want to be able to use our albums as a way to share stories that are appropriate for our age,and which capture our current vibes the best. Just wanna point out how thankful I am that Seventeen has Coups as a leader. He goes to every company meeting that has to do with his group, he would list out the groups needs and take them to the company himself, always put the members before the company, literally starting at the age of 18 or younger. I can't imagine the burden he felt with his responsibilities but he never let it show. Also wanna say I was a fan of Seventeen since 17tv in 2013 and those 2 years until 2015 were so difficult. Please give these boys a lot of love they deserve the world

Seventeen is a perfect example of rags to riches. They got to where they are all by themselves through hard work. The boys are so humble and grounded, honestly, they deserve so much more. At this point, Pledis still exists because of Seventeen.

They give comfortable practice rooms, waiting rooms, a big cafeteria as the CEO Bang Shi Yuk dont want idols to diet and must eat delicious food. They also offer gyms and relaxing area for them. Just like I said, unfortunately they cannot completely interfere. If they were in Bighit, most probably each aspiring composer idols would have their own room in which they can make music like txt and bts and money and dieting wont be strict at all.

S.Coups hiatus was a big clue for us. Also I remember a lengthy interview they did with Stacey Nam from iheart radio, and I think it was the 8 who was rocking back and forth in his chair for most of the interview, that is a sign of stress and anxiety.

I remember when one of the variety shows producer (i forgot which kshow) talked about Seventeen’s Seungkwan reaching out to any producers he saw at the spot and ask them to call Seventeen to guests in their show in the future. I literally cried listening to the story because it’s supposed to be the management duty. My babies have been doing everything themselves 🥺

Seventeen's contract will end next year, let's hope they will stay together and go to a better label. Like Psy's or maybe BigHit/Hybe. They gonna have to buy the rights to their group name, but given how much hardship they had to endure without support, they're probably prepared to do that.
Correction: They are technically already under Hybe since Hybe purchased Pledis ent., but the sub-labels are still independent from Hybe except for finances.
Edit2: They renewed their contract with Pledis, so let's hope the label will treat them right this time.

The only reason why seventeen is successful is that they DO EVERYTHING BY THEMSELVES. Hoshi once revealed the reason why he has to be strict to the member during trainee time for the dance practice. 'The company did'nt do it so i have to do it'. Woozi composed most of the songs, and also there is SCOUPS joining every important meeting and confront the company whenever needed to make sure the decision made is good for the group. Despite all these mistreatment SVT is still grateful towards to company, that is why they are SUCCESSFUL.
just a friendly reminder a lot of this info is from 5-6years ago. Lets not stir up negative resentment, especially with svt resigning with pledis, as that could put pressure on the boys for re-signing. Also, from the present stealing issues, a lot of staff and management was changed in pledis. Not saying pledis is a saint, but the company seems to try to at least do better than other companies. especially how they went about with the whole bullying scandals that were going around.
Yes! Those moments are mostly when Pledis is not that ✨rich✨ yet the their budget is quite limited. It's hard to manage 13 member group with not enough fund to do so, so I kinda understand. Plus, Seventeen loves their staffs, I can see they have good relationship from InSe episodes and from few random clips of them with staffs. The only issue I have with them is they suck at promoting their artists, and they can't get a good grip to all 13 members.
I started ✨liking✨ them(pledis and staffs) for real after Mingyu's issue. If it's not for Pledis, Mingyu could've been removed from the group already, like how other company do to their artists who got involved in serious issues.
Exactly, Pledis is a lot better now... S.coups said in the weverse magazine interview that he is really happy right now. He even said that the staff was super helpful and that he is comfortable where he is now.
All the members re-signed their contract so I guess they are happy. Pledis staff treat SVT really well, I guess they can do better in promotions but they're doing pretty good job managing them.
You do realise they have to be nice to seventeen now because that’s all that is giving them money. They essentially own the company at this rate
@@layneo8323 that's also true, but there are also many mistreated popular groups out there who literally bring the money for their company so us, fans, are happy and thankful (though it's a company's job to take care of their artists) that pledis seems to treat seventeen well (the recent gose eps prove it or at least I believe so!)

I recently became a fan of Seventeen (baby Carat here) and am soaking up everything I can about them. It makes me cry hearing that those 13 great guys went through this. They deserve the world. Absolutely am loving every single one of them and I've developed a mama bear protective complex when it comes to them. Don't mess with them!
Seventeen is a self-made idols. For the past years Pledis has been going down but because of SVT they survived. Carats know this issue even before and I'm happy that everyone's seeing this now

watching this one year later, thinking of what hoshi recently said in a video, confessing his love for the company. he was indeed drunk. it was quite a shock to me, because, after what pledis did to them in the past years, he would just randomly be honest and show his appreciation towards pledis entertainment.
what i like is that the relationship ship between them and the staff (i think mostly "gose" editors and the cameraman's) is quite good.
and now i am even better, bacause it's been almost one year since their decision to renew their contracts. it truly means that they work well as a group and family so i don't think their decision was pushed by the company. this is why seventeen are more of a self produced group

I don't care how money-hungry a person can be. If they CAN'T treat their artists (the money makers), and in some cases, their staff, correctly, THEY SHOULD NOT HIRE THEM OR CREATE A COMPANY.

I came here after watching Hoshi's drunk talkshow saying he love his agency so much. I still felt that PLEDIS is not one of the best agency, but of course, we're only fans and we're not the one who experience all of what they gone thru.
Probably after years of training they also built relationship with their staff or managers. There's a possibility that the staff's aren't harsh to them or whatsoever

A lot may think so with how things are now but even since before, they were struggling to even have basic necessities such as tissue and toothpaste cause it was limited for them. If they didn’t start self-producing, the company wouldn’t have debuted them in the first place. Now, svt’s still even worrying about a production show’s budget when they said that svt can get any food they want. Tbh if you came from nothing, that would rlly stick with you for a long time

Okay, but remember in the early days of seventeen pledis discredited performance unit (jun, minghao, and dino) by not mentioning them as the choreographers of the dances so that the company didn't have to pay them even though they contributed ideas along with hoshi and the choreographer team?

Everything's changed now. You can see the boys respect and are grateful to their company for sticking by them when they were just making it. Hoshi even cried while saying how much he loves Pledis. Also, the fact that all of them decided to renew their contracts one year before their contract was supposed to expire says a lot of the relationship between them and the company. Seungkwan even said during their guesting on Knowing Brothers that when they had the negotiations, SVT's value as a group was majorly considered. From that, I understand that the boys themselves know their value and will stand by it. SVT may have had unfavorable experiences with their company in the past, but that has changed now. The boys are now taking control of their group. They are well taken care of.
I got so much angry when I heard about how a staff hit suengkwan on the head omg seventeen is the best self made group out there.
Tbh I never wanted a group excluding GOT7 to leave their own company and go on their own ways I know that seventeens contract is ending next year I hope they don't renew the contract and join some other company as a whole group because these boys have gone through so much and are so talented and one of the best boy groups out there they deserve much more than this they're so perious I hope they'll finally get the happiness they deserve

As im a new carat, i didnt know much about svt's past and i believed this for a few days but after coming back from watching GoSe eps, i really think that some of the comments by some carats were right like how pledis is changing to the better and them and their staff's bond is good as of right now
at this point, seventeen was never under pledis.. they managed themselves . pledis never played any specific role as an entertainment company for seventeen. pledis doesn't even have well - mannered staff. seventeen is self made band. pledis is just a tag behind the band.
Giving the fact that they all renewed their contracts and said on knowing bros that the negotiations were brutal because they knew their worth is a good sign indicating the boys have some control and power over the company now

Haha the only one that deserves rights in pledis higher ups is BSJ (Vice Pres). Thank you for emphasizing how much he risked for SVT's debut. He is also a lot closer to the members than their CEO. In the show SVT club, you can see S. COUPS freely talking to their Vice Pres about his insights and his demands for the team. He is one strong presence in svt's success.

I’m grateful, our current seventeen members didn’t give up and kept going to reach their goals even they went through lots of difficult challenges and problems. Stan SVT, they’re strong.
Seventeen literally did everything themselves, with Woozi producing the songs & the performance team members coming up with the choreography, the company didn't help much & Pledis is on the brink of bankruptcy at the time of their debut, but seventeen's success & earnings saved the whole company.
After all the shit they went through together, it makes the bonds between the members so close. Even though I'm happy that all 13 of them stuck together after so many years, I feel that they should've just opened their own labels instead.
Still a proud carat here of their achievements & hopefully they continue to shine & stay together as long as possible. 💎

Majority of the issues that were mentioned in this video are all in the past. I’m not sure if there’s still any mistreatment going on but if there is why would all 13 members renew their contract with Pledis. To me it’s not logical to renew a contract with an agency that mistreat their artists. What will the artist benefit from the agency? One thing that Pledis did handle well this year was investigating and resolving the bully scandal and we do have to give them credit for that. Anyways join the fandom.
They might renew to keep the name and make sure they can stay together. We can’t see everything but I do know that they do not promote at all especially with the China lines music
@@layneo8323 yes which is something Pledis need to work on and I believe fans has been super vocal about promoting all them members equally. I think the contract renewals have to do more with the members rather than the company.
