Hi Tamsin, I hope your back is feeling better. It's so good to see you back Spinning . Thankyou so much for sharing this video podcast, about Spinning with Mohair. Your experiments are always welcome. I've never used Mohair or Silk Hankies think I need to get some 😮 Happy Spinning Fibre Friend 🎡🐑🥰🌞 Take care, stay safe and well 😊😊 Lots of love and Big Hugs Jen xxxx ❤️❤️❤️🫂🫂🫂🐈⬛🐈⬛
Happy to see you at the wheel! How are those kitties? I also got some mohair at MD Sheep and Wool. Should have worn my I Love Dr Chaos hat and gotten together with Robin!! I dont think I chose my mo well (quite barnyard-y and a bit felted) but still play-worthy! Thank you for your video!!!
Good to see you spinning again. I just bought some Mohair at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival and I was wondering what to do with it. Thank you for some ideas.
Thank you SO much!!!! I never thought of core spinning it I have some silk thread to try, When I process it I will treat it like a fine wool to be on the safe side. Again THANK YOU !!!
Take some samples and do all the things. Blend it with wool, spin just the mohair, make a fine single and ply it with a thicker ply of wool....I have so many ideas lol. This was just what I thought of that day lol. I'm glad I gave you some ideas though. Have fun!
As a lace knitter and someone with a tendency to spin fiercely fine yarns, this video was so useful! Thank you! I haven’t tried to spin mohair yet. But I’m definitely saving this information for reference when I do some time in the future! I’m just a newbie and avidly absorb this kind of content. I’m already at the stage where no matter which fibre I come across whether it’s “in person”, online, or in any other way, my mind goes either ”would it spin?” or “how would it spin?”😂 Not all that surprising, because as a maker of fruit wines, meads and (hard) ciders my mind always goes to questions about how a source of fermentable sugars might end fermenting up. Oh dear… I’m spotting a pattern… 🙈🤣
@@bffiberarts - I’ve been making my own meads etc since I was 18-19 (European, drinking age is a lot sooner here) but it takes months before I can bottle a batch. Knitting (and now spinning) fills the gaps nicely. Pickling is seasonal. LOL. I do consciously steer away from certain things though. For my sanity because I’d be trying to cram 36 hours into the 24 we all have. The list of things I dabble in… not going to list them. In the months since I’ve started spinning I can say it’s going to stick.
@eddavanleemputten9232 Canada has a lower drinking age too. And if I never had to sleep there's so many things I'd love to explore doing! Not that I sleep a lot to begin with but still.... so many things lol.
I was across my room to grab my phone when you said "silk hankies" around the @1:30 mark. From across the room I thought ou said "silk panties" and whipped around to look! haha
Great to see you spinning!❤
Feels good to get back to it when I can.

You should try all the things! Maybe get small amounts to start in case you don't like it but you'll never know if you don't try. Be well!

I love the thought of meeting up in the wild lol. And yes this will be the perfect play fleece! Have fun with it.

It felt great to get back to spinning. Mohair is such a unique fiber that you really have to play with it to find the perfect use for you. Enjoy!
The silk hankies would drive me NUTS. I was getting twined for you, lol.
I have to be in the right mood for them because they can be annoying. But I just love how they spin so I do it when I have patience lol.

That was a great exercise!
Thanks for sharing.
I always love experimenting.

Lol. I fall into that avoid interest in all things too but the only thing that's stuck is all things fiber arts.

Hahahaha! That's my accent for ya.
Thank you ! I’m carding a fleece of 8” mohair. I think it’s too long. I’m going to cut some and try this technique
That long is even hard to comb! Good luck with this. I think it comes out amazing.
Hi. I’m not a fan of mohair myself but it was interesting to see your experiments.
I think it's brilliant for thread especially and does have its place. I'm glad you found it interesting.
That was really interesting, thankyou. You introduce so much , the silk hanky thing so delicate very lovely .
@M . I love to try all the things. Silk hankies can be a bit of a handful but they're wonderful.
Something else to try 😊. Sorry @Angie didn’t mean to butt in was supposed to be a separate comment box .
@@m.5018 No worries 🙂
