    The hanging train at 14:50 still exists and is running as public transport. The town is Wuppertal in the state of North-Rhine-Westfalia, a bit to the east of Cologne. And the footage was shot 40 years before Hitler came to power. At this time he was still an unemployed bum hanging around in Vienna.

      Umm... He'd still be 14 years old at school in the year 1903, he was born in 1889. Just searched it to comment this, it showed a picture of him sitting in the ground sad. Honestly, I'm probably one of the rare cases of people that feels sympathy for evil people. Cause they weren't born to be evil, they were forced to become one. Makes you wonder what if he had different parents. No abusive father and no obsessive mother.

      Unless we fall into the same imperialistic nonsense that led to that society destroying itself.
      This could be a golden age we are living in. Progress is not guaranteed, especially at the speed at which we’ve been blessed with.

    Everything change from the past to present. I remembered when i was little I was watching Wizard of Oz and I asked my mom there is something wrong with the movie. It went from black and white to color. I don't remember if Gone With The Wind was ever in black and white. Today everything change. But the real life thing if how our culture changes, head wear, clothing and vehicle. And I love how children react on cameras. They were shy at first then decided how they play. Thank you for sharing this video. Cant wait to see what people think about today in next 100 years or so.

    Back in the days, people were much more often outside, exposed to the sun. That's why I think they wore "hats". Nowaday, we live inside, with conditioned air and dozen of screens. We don't wear hats anymore, but everyone is shortsighted and wear glasses.

    • @alimantado373
      @alimantado373 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I think it was more fashion than for the weather, people were very restricted in what they could wear and fit in to society. If you see pictures of the Caribbean at the time people were wearing the same thing in hot countries.Most of the people in this era were working in factories it was the era of the industrial revolution.

    • @MannyBrum
      @MannyBrum หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@alimantado373 I think the social aspect plays a part, but I think it started with functionality first and then various hats became associated with various classes. If you look throughout history things have come to be associated with the classes that use them, rarely do things start off being dictated by class. In medieval times, peasants ate certain types of food that they could grow and forage themselves, the nobility ate things that might have been imported or things that aren't readily available and thus expensive. It wasn't that peasant's weren't allowed to eat these, they couldn't afford to. In the 19th and 20th century a lot of clothing was specialized to the conditions in which people lived and worked. Buttons on clothes were functional, everything had a purpose. Towards the end of the 20th century a lot of superfluous elements started to be added to imitate earlier designs without the functionality. Example: Suit jackets have buttons on the sleeves, these are supposed to function like shirt sleeve buttons so that one can roll the sleeves up while working, but the majority (not all) of suit jackets today have non-functional buttons on the sleeves. Nowadays since the suit is seen as formal attire most people don't do heavy work in it. In earlier generations more thought was given to functionality than fashion save for upper class designs that were showy. The working people in the videos would have worn hats to protect their head from heat or cold, and also their hair from dirt and debris.

      How about this though?
      Your first thought would be "Oh, how cute they both were when reacting and starting waving back to the people 100 years ago"
      But the chilling thing to imagine is if this reaction survives between the sea of modern videos and someday 100 years from now some people maybe waving back to Ruby.
      Nobody expects that their non-impressive everyday life will be seen in 100 years, but what if it lasts?

    Hello grandfather and nice lady, about hats.
    I read years ago that in the west Europe and America hats were worn in the city mainly to keep burning cinders from fires cooking fires heating fires train fires in the suit that falls out of the air off your head and out of your hair.
    But also certain Christian sects believe that woman should cover her hair in public.
    In America most men stopped wearing hats because of President John F Kennedy didn’t wear a hat edit hats fill out a fashion because of him. Then later men started wearing those stupid ball caps golf caps and things have never been the same since ha ha
