      Every person should be as open minded, contemplative & appreciative as these fellows are. They aren't trying to convince anyone of anything. They don't need laws to tell them to accept others because it's as natural as breathing is for them. I think most people on a fundamental level are naturally like them in the beginning. Unfortunately many people's upbringing, their exposure to media or one off personal experiences often putrefies this nature.

There's no historic burdens, they're not very exposed to Christianity. But Islam is hated in India, that's because they have history of conflict and live with muslims.

      There isn't anything historical or biblical attesting to that, honestly I'm not sure of the historical records of even Thomas in India. Probably the strongest evidence to me for Thomas is the prominence of the name Thoma in Kerala, the issue is so many documents were destroyed by the Portuguese initially (I doubt they even read them) as they pushed local Christians to adopt latin rites, which had mixed success compared to other groups in similar contacts.
      I think the oldest Christian church structure still standing in the world is in India, the first seven churches in India were built within a couple decades of the crucifixion (all but one seems to have been rebuilt at some point), and they themselves claim to be a branch of the St Thomas Christians in Syria who claim to have been founded by Thomas, but I've had a lot of trouble finding information referencing Thomas in India that existed prior to Portuguese contact with those Christians.
      There were Jewish settlements in the area, and the churches were founded around those areas, and I think I remember that they incorporated some Jewish and Brahmin traditions in their rites.

      I know one legend was very specifically attested to directly from Indian sources, after a lot of persecution a woman named Chirutha raised an army to defend the Christian communities and there was a bit of conflict for a few decades.
      Another fun fact, Christians in Kerala depicted Jesus as a Buddha-like figure, with the long earlobes.

      @Alex-dh2cx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@somecalvinist6875 I looked it up and from what I saw I believe that Dura-Europos is among the oldest surviving structures, and it's actual date of use (an older building converted into a church in the 3rd century) is archeologically attested to versus what some might call an "anecdotal history" of the Indian church (blame the Portuguese for destroying old documents), but that building is not an active, surviving church, like the one in Thiruvithamcode. It was excavated in the 20th century. I think another church in Syria is almost as old as Dura-Europos and it's original building is still in use today as a monastery. They know that structure was built before 325, but have no idea how long before then it was actually built.
      In India they claim the original structure was built by Thomas himself alongside seven other Churches in Kerala; I think the idea is that the supporting columns and the base of the structure are original/very old. Dunno about all that but it's definitely among the oldest church congregations, having existed for nearly 2000 years and being founded around the same time as some of the oldest congregations in Syria (they actually use some Syriac language in their traditional rites in India). There's a strong connection between the eastern church and India, it was originally organized under the early Eastern patriarchy.

    The first thing you notice about these Gentlemen is, they are so respectful. You could see that they were truly in Awe of the meaning of Christmas as seen from another prospectus and the way they call the Christian religion their Brothers. If more people around the world were as tolerant to others as these Gents are, the World would be a much finer place 🙏💖.

      I agree. These gentleman are so respectful and moved even by the Christmas story which has nothing to do with their faiths at all!
      Learning how and why others believe enriches our knowledge and help us understand others. I myself have always been interested and was lucky enough to have a Jewish girl, some Roman Catholic girls, and a Hindu girl amongst my friends in my mainly Protestant class at High School. No one felt bad when we asked each other about their faiths. In fact one day, in my last year at High School aged about 17+ myself and two or three others were invited to our Hindu friends house for the day. We sat on the carpet together, and we asked “So, what exactly do Hindus believe..” explaining what we did know. Oh my! Our friend started in the mid morning and finished after dinner! I think she told us everything possible! Maybe the Mahābhārata ! It was fascinating and brought us much closer to understanding her and her Indian Hindu country/folk!

    Being raised Roman Catholic Orthodox, going to church almost 4x a week and 2x on weekends, I didn't quite understand why my family members were going to church so much?
    As I was growing up, I slowly began to comprehend the importance of attending church so often.
    I simply loved creating a great menu, to be cooked and served for our church members after attending mass on Sundays!
    Just being able to receive a "thank you" and see everyone's face with smiles and coming back for a second helping of food brought tears of joy to my eyes, because in my heart I know that being able to create, cook and serve delicious and healthy meals for my church family members and the community is a great blessing!
    Thank you so much my Heavenly Father above for blessing me with the gift of creating and cooking for everyone!!!

    Also, as a practicing Christian who firmly believes in the birth of Jesus Christ, and that he is the son of God. I am so moved to see fellow people with different beliefs so accepting and moved by a faith that is different from their own. Unfortunately, a lot of my Christian brothers and sisters can be far less gracious, and lack the humility that these men have!

      Well, Jesus said that the meek will inherit the earth.
      Look at how meek Jesus was...... with all of his powers, he acted so meekly that he took the role of a servant and died on a cross.
      Meekness is humility toward God and toward others. It is having the right or the power to do something but refraining for the benefit of someone else.
      But Christians are also given a job.... to spread the word. Many people do not work on the fruits of bible study, hence meekness does not appear in their actions.

    Yule or jul (like in Swedish and Norwegian) meaning Christmas, is a viking/pagan tradition created and celebrated long before Christianity was founded. It was a pagan celebration of the winter solstice which is the longest night of the year therefore celebrating the return of the sun. The Church has hijacked/reinterpreted many pagan festivals not just Christmas. And the "Saints" of the Catholic Church are basically how the church incorporated pagan gods to make it easier for pagans to get baptized.
      It is, of course, also very unlikely that the true birthday date of Jesus was anywhere close to late December.

    In the Nordics it's a mix of christianity and pagan folklore and whatnot, rather than a christian holiday. Christmas in all of europe is based on the pre-christian traditions.
      The christmas tree is an old german tradition which originaly had to do with Tor and the tree of life.
      Santa Claus is basically based on odin, who flew on his eight-legged horse sleipnir, even the look of the modern santa claus was illustrated for coca cola by a swedish man/or from swedish descent who based the look on the Tomte. Then added the red colours of course.
      Ect and so on.
      Christianity put their traditions on the dates of old pagan traditions. Its easier to change the why than to change the actions themselves.
      Most historians who believe that jesus was real, thinks that he was actually born in autumn.
      Behind every christian tradition is an old pagan tradition they tried to erase.
      Midsummers eve is kinda known for being one of the only holidays that christianity was not able to claim. Sure, they say its John the baptist birthday but atleast in scandinavia no one would know that unless they look at an almenac..if it would even register in their minds having read that. We only know that we are celebrating summer and has nothing to do with jesus.

    • @hmvollbanane1259
      @hmvollbanane1259 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Similar in Germany, though Christmas itself is a lot more christianized we also call it "celebration of light" and hence celebrate it during the night of the 24th. We don't have Santa Klaus but celebrate Saint Nikolaus on the 6th who is often accompanied by a servant in chains (or krampus in the alps) who is often believed to represent Wotan (Odin) accompanying the bishop. Other than that we have on the 11th of November Saint Martin's day which is in all but name a celebration of the wild hunt: a procession of all the children following a sole soldier rider who is characterized by his cape running through the night with every child holding a lantern, after which they go with their lights from house to house, sing songs and receive sweets in return and gather all the other people at the big central bonfire around which we will drink, dance around and jump through the fire until the sun rises. Also we have the so called "Rauhnächte" around Christmas when we believe the veil between the worlds to be thin enough to allow spirits to pass through on specific nights and hence have all kind of celebrations to keep people inside (Perchten runs in the south) or drive the ice spirits away (e.g. silvester, where we launch a ton of fireworks and depending on the region also flaming wooden disks golf style down cliffs and hills to drive away the ice spirits)

    • @hmvollbanane1259
      @hmvollbanane1259 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Edit: just googled Yule - it is exactly what we call and celebrate as Rauhnächte in German (12 days between the 21st of December (Thomasnight), including Christmas day till the 6th of January when the wild hunt, which starts during the night of new years eve (hence the before mentioned tradition of making as much noise and fire as possible) is believed to settle down during the night towards it)

      Why would early Christians have anything to do with how you were raised? Unless you´re like 2000 years old..?
      " Point is Jesus was born in April"
      Nobody knows that. There are just speculations. The story about his birth wasn´t even mentioned in the first of the gospels to be written (Mark), but made up much later by people not even born back then.
      "we acknowledge his birth in December with Peace, Love and Joy"
      If you´re so sure about him being born in April why don´t you acknowledge it in April instead with peace, love and joy?
