Best apples are green apples. Granny smith apples. They dont make bubbles. Its a nice green, little bit sour apple. It matches really nice with the sweetness. Oh and dont forget to wash the apples in HOT WATER. Because the apples have a wax layer for shine.
This is the best demonstration of Candy Apple Making I have ever seen. I love how she went "old school" and uses the popsicles sticks versus those candy sticks everyone else uses! Thank you. :)
Jolene is one of the VERY FIRST people I ever saw on TH-cam...and I'm pretty sure she was the first person I subscribed to as well! And now I feel very fortunate to live in her neck of the woods! I'm still a huge fan, and now a friend too. She's very special and a real supporter of TH-camrs. So happy to hear you dig her stuff too! LOVE LOVE LOVE your recipes. I wish you were on 5 days a week. No pressure:-)
Candy apples are just so classic, i remember anytime my family went to a pumpkin patch in the fall me and my sister would always get candy apples and would eat them on the way home, my mom has a photo of me as a toddler sitting in my carseat with red syrup all over my face
I read that agave is just as processed as corn syrup. I am so disappointed cause I thought I found a natural sweetener. Ugh, too good to be true I guess :/
I had something very similar to this in the Dominican Republic but instead of apples it was coconut balls about the size of a golf ball on two toothpicks. They were very good! Vendors sell them in city parks for 10 pasos, about 20 cents.
Ah, candy apples. Never actually tried them, but they look like shiny, beautiful glistening globes of delight. I really do have to make some this Halloween.
BEST RECIPE FOR CANDY APPLES!! I tried it and everyone loved it! Making it again for Thanksgiving. Really easy and quick. Cinnamon adds a great touch of flavor. Thanks yoyo!
Well, they turned out beautiful but I can't figure out how to show them off so you'll just have to take my word on it, lol. I made GREEN ones for the Irish in me!
A wooden spoon is one of the best options for molten sugar actually. I would worry some of my more flimsy plastic spoons would melt and a metal spoon (at least one without some kind of handle covering) would be too hot to handle.
So I have always used the Concord Candy Apply Mix to make these every year, however, they no longer are available. Thank you for this recipe! I'll give it a try and comment again afterwards. This is a family tradition!
+yoyomax12 i love this! Not only is it a great well organized video, but you experiment and you're not afraid to do that! You act like my dad and i find you truly inspiring. you seem terrific and very optimistic! :)
My mom's aunt and uncle owned a carnival from the 1950s-1990s. They made their taffy apples from scratch, and every Hallowe'en, my mom would use that recipe to make a batch for the local trick-or-treaters. The recipe contained 4 lbs. of sugar, and made 50 taffy apples.
then go out and buy some :) thats what i did it wasnt expensive at all it was a gallon for like $6 but im not sure because it depends on where you live
My sister found u first ( she's 10) and always wanted to watch your videos and she was like "can u watch them with me?" I said no always used to get angry cuz I watched something I didn't enjoy but now ... IM ADDICTED ;) xxxx u rock yoyomax12!!
I have always wanted to make this but didn't work but when saw you're video I was so happy and it worked so I'm so happy now!!! Thanks for making this video it made me sooooo happy!!
These look exactly like they did when I was a kid, and yes, they are very hard to bust through! I had forgotten about that. I saw Jolene's vid on this and I bet they are delish too. You are getting very clever! LOL
Could be that your candy had cooled too much before you started dipping? I found that the thicker and cooler it was the harder it was to get it to stick
Thanks for the tip on Jolene! What a cutie! How have we not seen her before? TH-cam needs to feature her videos more so more people can enjoy her channel!
I'm about to go try this recipe right now! i have been craving Candied apples for a month now, can't find them for sale anywhere so, make my own!! I'll share a photo if they turn out, lol
i love the fact that you actually reply to people who comment on your videos oh by the way my dad says thanks for the fathers day lawnmower cup cake tutorial. yay tammy!!! ^_^
Wow, I have never made candy apples before, but this recipe was as easy as could be! They turned out great, and I didn't even have a candy thermometer. The only thing I would improve on next time I make them is that I would really let the candy drip off a lot- mine were a bit thickly coated. But that's my problem of course, not yours, lol.
Those look good. I made them years ago. As you said, you should eat them the same day. I noticed the hot candy cooks the outside of the apple slightly and it gets kind of mushy. BTW, is JoleneSugarbaker a man or a woman?
I've actually never had a candy apple before,I 've alway wanted to try one, but have never gotten around to it, gala apples are my favorite by the way :)
Thank you for this amazing recipe :) you are so wonderful I just finished making them now for my kid's birthday tom and they were just perfect :)))) love from Egypt
When she said greased she most likely meant a canola oil spray OR butter, did you grease it with a paper towel and regular bottled oil? Also, the sugar probably bonded to the wax paper and that's why it wouldn't come off. It won't let me post a url, search candy apple wax paper and e-how will give you instructions :). Hope this helps!
Mmmm that looks delish! Looks a lot like the candy apples I got at my local farmers market! Do you think you could make a caramel apple recipe video aswell?
OMG i used to watch you ALL the time when I was a kid
I’m happy I found this channel FIVE years later

Candy apples are just so classic, i remember anytime my family went to a pumpkin patch in the fall me and my sister would always get candy apples and would eat them on the way home, my mom has a photo of me as a toddler sitting in my carseat with red syrup all over my face
For kids you can use baby apples!
They look like little ornaments, so pretty!!!
I. Used 1/2 cup organic aguave ,4 tablespoon sugar, 3teaspoons of corn starch and it worked great and was so good the kids loved it
I read that agave is just as processed as corn syrup. I am so disappointed cause I thought I found a natural sweetener. Ugh, too good to be true I guess :/
i know my nutritionist
told me that too
:( I have just been using pure cane sugar and honey. I want to make this recipe though. I guess that agave may be the lesser evil.
Ma'am, you are an absolute treasure. This is the best recipe!
Arigatou gozaimasu for the tips, Eri chan love it
I have a steeplechase pie which is a pecan pie with chocolate chips and it is TO DIE FOR delicious
This is prolly the vid midoriya used for eri's candied apple
Lmao
Delicious!!!! just watching you make these, makes my mouth water... takes me back to my childhood...
For the half apple, how about covering only the part with the skin? It's be even better if you take off the pips so you can eat the whole product.
Thats what I thought!
The inside would go brown though :/
1st time I watch this is from 2013 and now I watch it again on 2020 and I still love it
I had something very similar to this in the Dominican Republic but instead of apples it was coconut balls about the size of a golf ball on two toothpicks. They were very good! Vendors sell them in city parks for 10 pasos, about 20 cents.
+seattwa Now that sounds delicious!!
+TheCurlyGemini I'm might have to give these a shot! I have the sweetened cocont already, so might as well.
Ah, candy apples. Never actually tried them, but they look like shiny, beautiful glistening globes of delight. I really do have to make some this Halloween.
omg, i watched these a whole load when i was little and now i found it again XD

Bless you for showing how to get the candy out of the pot!
Well, they turned out beautiful but I can't figure out how to show them off so you'll just have to take my word on it, lol. I made GREEN ones for the Irish in me!
I like that you actually showed what happened with the half apples. Thank you!
Just wondering do you ever get hate comments?
A wooden spoon is one of the best options for molten sugar actually. I would worry some of my more flimsy plastic spoons would melt and a metal spoon (at least one without some kind of handle covering) would be too hot to handle.
when you said for those of you who stuck around..i felt sooo special :')
thank you for showing the cleanup at the end! The mess is what has scared me off of making any for YEARS!!
The intro was like a tv show😂❤️

Glad you enjoyed them! Thanks for letting me know :)
yoyomax12 - the diet free zone I don't know why but the liquid didn't stick to the apples
No, the darker corn syrup will just change the colour a bit
Believe it or not I've never had a candied apple. Those look really good!
Could be that your candy had cooled too much before you started dipping? I found that the thicker and cooler it was the harder it was to get it to stick
This is so cute & all of your video are so creative and adorable :)

The candy coating is almost impossible to cut neatly, it will crack and fall off quite a bit

Yummmmm! macs or Granny Smith apples are my favorites for this
I'm going to make these tomorrow morning and they are going to be hopefully AMAZING
Those look good. I made them years ago. As you said, you should eat them the same day. I noticed the hot candy cooks the outside of the apple slightly and it gets kind of mushy. BTW, is JoleneSugarbaker a man or a woman?
