- We met up with our boy John Merrill and checked out his 2005 Ford Ranger EDGE that has been touched by some talented builders. One of the builders actually came up with a hack to stop gas from spilling out in an event of a rollover or flip. Watch to get inspired on your build. The interior is AMAZING!

no worries man! You guys are putting out awesome free content for us to enjoy. One thing that I’ve always thought would step up your guys’ production would be to film all of the talking stuff straight to the camera, and then go around and shoot all the close-ups of the parts that you’re talking about. That way you can still show whatever they’re talking about but it won’t take away from the audio quality and we don’t have to see you pushing the camera into the spots to get the shots.
would come out much cleaner to just show the shots over the voice. Quick google search on A Roll/B Roll will explain this better than me.

Any of the 4 liter SOHC Rangers were sleepers with 70 HP more than any of the other engines , 220 HP in a 3100 pound truck is more than enough . Even with brand new good quality tires , mine breaks traction on dry pavement .

Anthony Olsen haha well, that’s if he’s sticking with all Ford. Coyotes can make some pretty serious power. Obviously for simplicity and cheapness, LS is the way to go
@@hunterjohnson4954 It's really just a size issue in these Rangers. The DOHC engines are HUGE dimensionally. Basically big-block Chevy sized. From a packaging standpoint, a pushrod motor is the way to go. Either LS or 351w if he wants to stick to Ford.

i believe in utah u have to have mud flaps on all 4 tires az has some laws too like that and then in cali you have to have a cover over the light bars when not in use. in nevada u cant ever use high beams or light bars in the city limits. all kinds of laws u need to look into but ya its basically street legal maybe just a few minor adjustments. the laws are tricky and from my understanding if they want they can ticket you for it but thats about all i know i never had a problem i even drove a side by side down a major 4 lane road all the way down in las vegas a few times and didnt have a problem but truth is in nevada they are only street legal in single lane roads. laws are kinda tricky and depending on the cops. hopefully cops are cool with it and hopefullyyoure not putting rocks through peoples cars.

This truck needs ecoboost or a V8, the 4.0L is not terrible, but with 37's it would be a nightmare even with mad gearing.

No adapter, bell housing bolts right up. But a billet culhane one would have been nice but couldn’t find one.
Old 2.8 bellhousing from a c5 will bolt a c4 directly to a 4.0

That truck weighed 3100 pounds stock , did it gain weight from all the tube work , or did it lose weight from using fiberglass ? I have a 2003 Ranger Edge myself .
weighs 4840 with a full 40 gallon cell.

It’s been awhile but think it was a c4 bell housing. Dana sniff built it and had the trans that would work.

How much does a build like this cost?
Keeping in mind that it's still a v6, he's probably somewhere around 60-80k deep. But it depends on a lot of things. Just a guesstimate
I would guess a little over 100k if you didn't do any of the work yourself. Literally every aspect of this ranger was done well.
What can I expect with a V8 swap?

@@asmith7094 As Roberto said, every aspect was done very well. He probably did end up spending around 100k. From personal experience, you can get a full build with a v8 swap from BTF Fab for 100-150k depending on the attention to detail.
As for maintenance, you still have general things that need to be checked like oil, coolant, brakes, etc.. You would have to check hubs and bearings, uniballs and heims, shock seals and safety equipment (functioning properly). I’m absolutely sure I’m missing more things but you should also check for cracks in the frame or tubing. It’s hard to put a price on replacing worn components just because it depends how hard you push the truck, how well everything was prepped and how often you go out. But just guessing, you’d probably be spending around 2-3k on heims and uniballs alone.

If i rolled over I would think spilling gas would be the least of my worries it’s more then likely a total loss at that point or am I mistaken??
If you rolled over and started spilling fuel, that fuel could catch fire and you could burn to death before anyone would be able to get you out.
