somehow they made a perfect representation of absolutely how Not to build a truck in every way imaginable. And did it, while keeping a strait face and professional tone the entire time. 🤔 i still dont understand how they didn't get a single thing right 😂 That my friends takes skill 😆
Damn man, these shows are hilarious. They all mig weld right next to windows, shocks, engines without covering any of it. All I can say is anyone doing this much fab, do your "race" quality paint job once your done. PS. Check out that cage roof haha
Ya, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm not trying to be negative but the gaps in the roll bar tubing are bad. People need to understand why it's bad though. The reason it's bad is because the gap is bigger than the thickness of the tubing. This means your filling the gap with filler metal. The amount of heat input to that area will harden the metal and make it prone to cracks. Also you don't want weld material to be using like JB weld. I know to some this may seem to critical but if your building a cage, it's to protect you and it can't be reliable if your welds aren't correct.
This is how they did it, not necessarily how you should do it... in case anyone is actually looking for advice or is planning on doing something similar.
Guess they dont plan on fully welding the tubes for the roll cage, or taking off the header to fully weld that since its wrapped around the engine mount.
Makes me feel good about my fittings lol and I use Mild Steel on cages for giys that are on a budget but I dont try and hide it and call it Dom then make it obvious that its not like at 7:08 xD nice build tho even with the slugs welds and crazy tube fittings xD if it works it works
I would hire her but she wouldn't be working on cars/trucks just standing in the showroom looking pretty she is beautiful and my kind of chick love her enthusiasm but not her skills hope she has better skills elsewhere wink wink
Nice massive gap between the plate and the roll bar..... no need to weld the sandwich plates we've got nylock nuts....no time for attention to detail between product commercials huh?
It's funny how you see all these people telling them what a good job they're doing hopefully they do that as a giveaway and somebody that gave them a thumbs-up when's that truck
so much wrong with this video. the welded seam on the tube clearly shows thats NOT DOM tubing, dead tubes throughout the chassis and that super form fitting roll cage HAHAHAHA. why didnt you use the engine cage to mount the shocks line normal people instead of building a hoop literally directly under. getting paid to misinform people. awesome! is this a segment on CNN????
Funny watching this my ranger is painted super close to this, I copied more of an rs200 look. Plan to eventually build this or another ranger into a prerunner
So I wasn't the only one cringing when I saw those welds or the fact that she couldnt even cut the roll cage straight for the floor mount. I'm sure that will be a real strong point.
Yeah.... I'm 6 mins in and needed to pause and read some comments because I can't believe I'm watching a header built in a way that it can't be removed from the truck without removing an engine mount
as soon as they painted the cab i was like WTF? how you going to cut the roof off to weld the top of the cage... and here i am wondering if its going to be tight lol...
@@g__wizz take that back Ian is leaps and bounds ahead of these clowns he is a brilliant fabricator while these guys could hire stevie wonder to do a better job looking at the size of their gaps
I like the project but damn are y’all even thinking about how hard it’ll be to work on that engine. The engine hasn’t even started and it looks like it’s getting a whole cage
Alright so everybody here sees the primary running under the motor mount, that’s not really a huge deal, you just support the engine and pull the mount to remove. Not ideal, but working at a race car shop, sometimes you don’t have a real choice. That engine cage trapping the motor is crap. You need to have EVERYTHING thought out when you build one of these trucks, and a lot of this was spur of the moment fab work from my observation.
If it weren’t for the worlds worst welds I’d have to wonder how to pull that motor out but I’m guessing it’s going to fall out when those welds break !!!
This is the exact comment I scrolled down for. Was wondering wtf they'd do with the crazy ass gap. I guess tight fit-up doesn't really matter for safety???
Oh. My. God. I feel bad for whoever is riding in this thing if god forbid it flips over. And if I see anybody walk out from a shop even resembling either of them I’m leaving to a different shop.
As much as we hate on these guys, i know if they handed you the keys and said have at it most of you would jump right in and go haul ass. Hell, I know half of you have rallied a stock honda civic or truck in the dirt at some point lol. Although sometimes the execution is poor, it does provide a basis on what is should somewhat be like. For example, building the headers, yes it might not be the best way to do it, but after watching this, I feel like I have a decent idea of what building a set is like and how I should go about it. Just my input.
Ian and what's her name made this a good show. They knew how to fab and they knew 4 wheeling. THIS is just bad. I wouldn't blame a backyard mechanic for making these mistakes, but this is a how-to style show. You can't tell people that this kind of work is acceptable. Every shot of this episode had multiple mistakes.
This 1 just gives women fabricators a bad name I was married to 1 who sadly was murdered and she would and could put 99%of men to shame but those are few and far between that's why I married her but a jealous p.o.s. took her and a good friend of mine from me and tried to kill me too... somedays I wish he had 😭
The producers of these shows need to understand that the audience most likely has some hands on experience with vehicles in general. So things like this shit sandwich of a show just aggravate people more than anything. Disappointingly say the least.
I don't have much experience but even I immediately realized wrapping those headers around the the motor mounts didn't seem like a well thought out idea 😂

Yeah not gonna happen.
That feeling when you just ran one of the header tubes under the motor mount... then locked the motor in place with a cage.
Love the cutting, grinding, and welding near open exhaust ports. Literally watching MIG spatter fly into the exhaust ports. Header build was hack.
Also welding near exposed shock shafts, good way to ruin brand new shafts and seals.
and the coilovers
somehow they made a perfect representation of absolutely how Not to build a truck in every way imaginable. And did it, while keeping a strait face and professional tone the entire time. 🤔 i still dont understand how they didn't get a single thing right 😂 That my friends takes skill 😆
Straight face.......

PS. Check out that cage roof haha
Perfect video of how NOT to build a prerunner. They are in for a rude awakening if they ever finish this death trap. Dead tubes everywhere..
Who else started counting how many God dahm problems we seen?
That header wrapped around the motor mount was spectacular😆
The amount of fucking gaps!

Yea these "dudes" suck some.. well you know.
Richmon Smith all kinds of design flaws...holy dogshit this is bad!
Haha, this is good stuff! Very funny; it's like the *theory* of fabrication, with a bunch of practical jokes.
10:53 I need to cleanse my eyes after seeing that cab cage 🥴
exactly lol! ... i paused the video and just stared in disbelief. hahaha....wtf.
Powernation is my favorite program every Sunday Morning even if I stay off late watching TV I Just set my alarm clock not to miss it I Love It !
didn't realize DOM had a seam?
It does but it is flattened by the mandrel. That's why it is drawn
That gap on the B pillar is SCARYYYY wide. Holy hell.
But a woman did it so it’s good and if not you’re a sexist
I thought I was the only one that noticed all the craziness going on
so im guessing the motor is a permanent fixture lol :-)
I noticed that aswell
A lot of cuttin to get the engine back out. I think this truck is destined for a cliff which makes it a one tyme use truck.
@@imfloridano5448 i second that
I did find that odd... i feel like it should be able to be removed somewhat easily... but its in there good
This is how they did it, not necessarily how you should do it... in case anyone is actually looking for advice or is planning on doing something similar.
How do you plan on pulling the engine out? Lol... Wtf
Was thinking the same thing....lol such a trap
Exactly! Or service anything?!?
yes, dead- doubt the valve covers will come off either OR the custom headers without cutting crap outta the way🤣
No need---put it on CL
Guess they dont plan on fully welding the tubes for the roll cage, or taking off the header to fully weld that since its wrapped around the engine mount.
Good to see these on TH-cam

Man I miss watching this show so long I'm so excited to watch this again thank you so much powernoiton
I think Eliza might have been a thickness hire.
I would hire her but she wouldn't be working on cars/trucks just standing in the showroom looking pretty she is beautiful and my kind of chick love her enthusiasm but not her skills hope she has better skills elsewhere wink wink
No measurements, no marks. Just slip this piece of tubing here and weld...this coil over can be eye balled, it’s cool....
Um it's ok its only people's lives in danger that's all no need to be exact
lmao all these comments are spot on
Nice massive gap between the plate and the roll bar..... no need to weld the sandwich plates we've got nylock nuts....no time for attention to detail between product commercials huh?
You guys are the best among the rest 👍👍👍
Ummmmm you have to remove a motor mount just to remove a header.... I get there's not much for space there but that's poor planning in fabrication
It's funny how you see all these people telling them what a good job they're doing hopefully they do that as a giveaway and somebody that gave them a thumbs-up when's that truck

This is definitely not dR approved! Maybe needs some Marci-Tech help! Haha
No, Faux News.
I was like did she just say DOM? Gap city Gap City bitchh. Didn't you used to prep for Jono?
What a pro job...
good luck getting to that motor mount and to the motor for that matter....
and thy just ran the header around the motor mount to he must be a ex ford engineer
i dont think that engine is coming out with those bars still there
That’s what I was thinking holy hell
Shouldn't the roll cage plates be different sizes as to not cause a mechanical shear point for the sheet metal?
This show is literally a spiritual successor to "Xtreme 4x4".
Recycled version.
That's dope showing a female working to bring it together.
Siiiiick gnar broooo
I'm guessing that cage never needs to pass tech. Or the engine ever needs to come out.
Better hope that engine is reliable
Funny watching this my ranger is painted super close to this, I copied more of an rs200 look. Plan to eventually build this or another ranger into a prerunner
Disclaimer: In no way do I ever plan to build anything with these techniques
Don't do it the way they did it and it will probably be ok.. use this vidjao as a what not to do
At least she’s good to look at. And the hate reply’s start in.....3.....2......1.....
No hate here I agree 1000% bad ass babe just not a fabricator
Beautiful job guys and hello from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
traction mats- in estonian language lumesild- snow bridge. Yes here are snow at November until end of March
Those welds give me nightmares.
Guarantee he never completely welded the headers. How could he?
wow these shows have really dropped off quality wise
So I wasn't the only one cringing when I saw those welds or the fact that she couldnt even cut the roll cage straight for the floor mount. I'm sure that will be a real strong point.
No shit! I fab better at home after half a bottle of jd. Buy tabs that fit your tubes for shit sake. Where is Ian? Laughing his ass off probly.
Look at the top of that cage as well. Yeesh. The quality of the show isn’t the only thing in the dirt...
Yeah.... I'm 6 mins in and needed to pause and read some comments because I can't believe I'm watching a header built in a way that it can't be removed from the truck without removing an engine mount

Working with elisa would be awesome
I guess that engine is permanent there. I guess these guys are just janitors at that place and just happened to see a camera laying around. Haha
god I miss Ian
He has his own show now here on youtube you can still watch him over these sorry excuses of hosts
hes not much better.
@@g__wizz take that back Ian is leaps and bounds ahead of these clowns he is a brilliant fabricator while these guys could hire stevie wonder to do a better job looking at the size of their gaps
zimmermann while I agree ian isnt the greatest.. hes definately far better than these goons.
She is a knockout with skills!
I like the project but damn are y’all even thinking about how hard it’ll be to work on that engine. The engine hasn’t even started and it looks like it’s getting a whole cage
where does one even begin. just give up they don't belong anywhere near building these cars unless its sweeping the floor.

Ian is rofl! I’m no fabricator but wtf are they thinking??
If it weren’t for the worlds worst welds I’d have to wonder how to pull that motor out but I’m guessing it’s going to fall out when those welds break !!!
Sooo, why are there ZERO finished welds shown??? HINT: We know why.
You can see a couple from a distance and they look like ass.
Lost any respect for this show when they trapped the exhaust behind the motor mount.
Cmon bro just pull the motor to get the mount out ya know! Just kidding 😂😂
Your like my ex doesn't know what your doing... Who the hell holds the angle grinder/ cutter at that angle. Good luck with the weld

Wow. This build is still up? I figured they would have taken it down after how the comments tore into this hack job.
Yes awsome but will it have ac???
How you going to remove the exhaust headers wtf
Whats the best way to tie the c pillars to the frame in a xlt cab?
I just want to know what chop saw they have
I beams?
I thought that would be a great idea too. Much easier as well since it came with ibeams from the factory.
Welds would definetly pass pass tech
Good luck pulling that engine... or just even removing the header without cutting it out...
Do you have to remove the engine to remove the header?
They can't even finish the welds with the header attached and they can't attach the header with the engine installed.
As much as we hate on these guys, i know if they handed you the keys and said have at it most of you would jump right in and go haul ass. Is it bad every time he starts the mig I shut my eyes.
What the hell are the green things around/under the welders wheels
She left that one bolt loose tho
Where did the show's go on Paramount?
My 94 4.0 xlt has that problem.
Scout is a strait axle..why Are front shocks laid back..the axle doesn't swing back when in compression
*DAMN SHE THICK*
How are you gonna get the motor out?
Wait a sec did he just wrap that header around the motor mount.
I miss Jesse
That was a pretty crappy cut on that tube. Plus one plate should be bigger than the other to help prevent shearing.
Even the narrator sounds sad all the old crew is gone. So sad.
I tried this for about two weeks and couldn’t maneuver between shows well
that floor plate to tube cut is god awful at 15:13
Hacks. That is all I can say.
13:43...the gap????? your kidding me right?
I miss Ian
I used a grinder the other day to cut intrusion bars out (that I didn't need). Watching her cut the roll bar to the floor was cringe
como ae le va a trabajar al motor si no le dejaron espacio para sacar tapa de valvula
How do I apple for a job there. That shop is literally my dream shop + what you guys are doing is my dream job
god damn and that roll cage is why you dont let women build prerunners
This 1 just gives women fabricators a bad name I was married to 1 who sadly was murdered and she would and could put 99%of men to shame but those are few and far between that's why I married her but a jealous p.o.s. took her and a good friend of mine from me and tried to kill me too... somedays I wish he had 😭
Ve que no le dejo mucho espacio de trabajo para las tapas de puntería del motor coyute
Very unprofessional to weld so close to the engine without covering it with something
what happened to the Canadian guy I think Ian was his name

For you new guys, this is what NOT TO DO.. very poor planning.
I’m not a fabricator but I’m almost certain that’s not how a prerunner should be built.
