Good choices, James. I have had Nauticam housings almost ten years now and just upgraded to a new one (NA-R6). Really good products. When you look the inside of the housing you understand why it is a bit more expensive. The mechanics is incredible. The buttons and knobs are where those belongs, not where the button or wheel in in camera. Congratulations! BTW It is really easy to design your own zoom/focus rings and then 3D print those. Works like a charm.
Thanks James, pleasure working with you and happy to help you with any tech support as you start to take your new toys in the water! I love the GH 5 !!!
NICE!!! Great video James! It’s so exciting to see your new set up! I’m also currently out of the water for two months due to a car accident. I totally know what you mean about the spending spree. If I could I would also get a camera rig, my dream set up would be a D850 with a few lenses, a nauticam housing, two YS strobes, a dome port and light arms. I have done tons of research. Since it is way out of budget right now., instead of 15k my spending spree was limited to $200 for oil painting materials. A little less serious, just to be able to do something while not allowed to dive yet. I figured if I can’t dive into it, painting it will get me as close as I can be to the ocean right now ;-). But I appreciate seeing you unboxing your new gear, it enables me to live vicariously thru others.
James, OMG that stuff is way cool! Can't wait to see the whole thing together and in action. When you have it ready, you need to walk us through how things work. Maybe you and Matthias? Excited for you!
I had so much fun watching you open those goodies. But to answer the question "What more could we want than to go on these dives with you via your kickass new rig"??? To DIVE those sites with you and see them for ourselves. We'll be back diving Largo in late June. Would love to buy you a couple of dives or a couple of beers if we all happened upon the opportunity.
James, a fun video of some great gear. Still looking forward to you coming out to West Coast. Pandemic is at least starting to get controlled a little bit, hopefully in the next year it will be safe for you to come out. Have an awesome day and thanks for the video. Skip
Awesome James. I love new gear and everytime I see stuff like this it makes me want to upgrade! It was nice meeting you with my wife last Sunday (9 days ago) though it turns out I'm not well suited for the 4-6' seas we were in lol. Future diving for me: Check the forecast and just take the stupid Dramamine if questionable. At least there weren't any cows on board!
Beans on toast for the next few months then ?, it was like watching one of my kids on Christmas morning. Looking forward to the output, hope the ear is well on the mend.
Good stuff. At least most of them :) Better options exist in terms of lenses and water optics for video. Your lens setup is better suited to photography. The Styx floats will lose buoyancy over time especially if you are into tech diving. Seems like the material compresses over time as neoprene does. Carbon fiber arms are a better choice given the amount of money you spent. Forget the blue filters on the lights if you don't use a red filter on the lens. At that price range, you could go with Keldans (more light output, smaller form factor in batteries so easier to carry around in boats, and I think better burn times out of them). Happy shooting!
Oh man so many new toys! I can see the itch in your fingers to get everything assembled and into the water. One question about the floats, they look like some sort of foam. Wouldn´t they compress and lose the bouyancy after a few meters/feet? Or am I missing something?
Hah I know the feeling, I was about of the water for two months, so I purchased a drysuit. $5k including undergarments. Probably $8k once I include the water leg.
Congratulations, the only thing missing is train delfín to carry everything. There is a point were you have to decide if you are diving or filming. Have fun.
Dang I thought the monitor cage was smaller 😩 I went with a ikelite system for my rig also ikelite strobes they work awesome for me but I do think the nauticam is more compact and less heavy than my ikelite with done port and strobes is 54 pounds out of the water
It would be really interesting to see how you set up and use / personalise all this kit! Yes, the kit is there to film your diving, but it's an interesting topic in itself i think! I'd love to see how much effort and time and thought it takes to use all that properly ;-)
Well the GH-5 is a brilliant camera and with a Micro Four Thirds sensor it will work a treat under water… only “drawback” with Micro 4/3 is the lack of “shallow depth of field”, but that´s more for stills photographers and anorak-“bokeh”-snobs and who wants shallow depth of field under water? Anyway, that setup looks epic!, bordering on a Jonathan Bird / Blue World setup. Oh yes, review please!!
Backscatter in Monterey are great!

"That's a pretty big camera rig there. Are you certified to use it?"
😂😂😂 since when you need to get certified to use a camera lol

Looking forward to seeing you create some clips with the new gear Mark!
Sitting in the airport, on the way home from D.C. from my family emergency. Ready to dive and see all this gear!
I hope everything worked out for the best.

Sounds great to me Brad! I'm in Bermuda in late June, but hit me up with specific dates and we'll try and set something up.
@@DiversReady Awesome!! I'll email you.
James, with those lights we need to change the Old saying for divers, take nothing, leave only blinded fish.
You definitely need an attractive model for that Spiegel dive with the new gadgets. I've been told orange fins work really well for video purposes.

Nice set up mate can't wait to see the videos. And nice scooter ....dive on my friend..
can't wait for first footage done by this new equipment :)
very nice set !
Nice new toys. Cheers James.
It definitely was 🎄 time!! Wow, congratulations James on those epic 📷 purchases. Cant wait to see some of that footage🚢🎞!

Congratulations James! looks awesome, looking forward for more spectacular content
Definitely give us a review and your thoughts on the setup.
Review the DPV please.
Hi James. another cool content video. The difference between men and boys is the toys. Looking forward to scooter video and others. Great work.
So glad your ears are better!!
Beans on toast for the next few months then ?, it was like watching one of my kids on Christmas morning. Looking forward to the output, hope the ear is well on the mend.
Can we see all the setup put together? Has to be a beast.

Perfect teaser video. You have to do a video demo and a review!
The square grouper lol
Like the scooter

Aren't there "arms" for the lights to make the light more indirect (to see less particules)
the arms are mounted on the end of the floats, they double up as arms

OMG James you kill me. Way to go man. What made you buy L&M over Keldan. Loved the video.
Gotta love new gear weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
I to love stickers 🤣👌
Good lord James! Umm well dang now you’re gonna make me spend more money on diving trips
Your bank account needs you to be underwater 😊

Congrats, James! Why four lights?
Four bodies, two heads.

Oh yes, review please!!
please take a video with this monster I really interesting to see
Amazing gear👍👌🐬🐬🐬
Tax deductible 😄
You’re gonna need a bigger flightcase lol
Now thats how you spend 10 Gs. 👏 thats awesome
How do you take your phone underwater? any suggestions?
Kraken housing.
Nice scooter. I could get lost twice as fast in half the time on a dive.
Very interesting, but the difference of the colour grading from the two cameras was a bit annoying.
For "your" benefit
The hard part of all this was when he hit the pay button I’m starting my open water class tomorrow 😅
Hello sir, I need to contact you plz, I have a serious problem and I need an advice 🙏🙏 thank you in advance
I would imagine your rig will have to be setup differently to use in freshwater for buoyancy purposes
Man I have been out of water for almost 2 years now 😭
