    I started doing this a couple weeks ago in the mornings. Being I work out in the elements every day I shower at night. This has made my morning routine so much easier and I've found I end up with less breakage and pulls than ever before.

    Morning showerer here. Putting products on a dry beard at night is a pain and inconsistent at best. Just switched from sink wetting to a spray bottle a few months ago. Works wonders. Good call passing that info on. 👊🏼

    Just wanted to come back here and say this tip did the trick! Having a slight damp beard really helps get that butter in the beard and spread evenly... It feels like it really is doing the job.. I’m big fun of spray bottles, ever since my long curly hair days I always kept one around. The long thick hair has since gone but I kept the spray bottle. I accidentally got into the beard lifestyle during the Covid lockdown, but I was told to use warm or hot water to dampen my beard before applying beard balm or oil. So I’ve been using a cloth that I would put under hot water then apply it to my beard. It never of course felt as good as the heated towel you get at the barber. But I like the idea of using my spray bottle again for something other than to spray the cat. Thank you sir. That’s an awesome beard by the way. I had hair in my head that thick once, but not as endowed when it comes to facial hair. Oh well.

    I’m a morning fresh guy & at nights I end us getting water everywhere when getting water thru my beard over the sink. Definitely investing in a spray bottle!
    Meant to say, I’ve upped my water intake but was struggling to reach the gallon every day. While breaking the volume down to ml I was reminded that over here in the UK we use an imperial measurement for a gallon & this is greater than a US gallon! Way to confuse things eh? Anyway, I going US & that means I’m hitting my gallon!

    • @DanCBearded
      @DanCBearded  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Congrats on the water intake! Idk why the US makes measurements so tough lol

    • @Chaos3volved
      @Chaos3volved 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest, being a qualified personal trainer, the colour of your urine is the best indicator of hydration. You don't necessarily need an entire gallon of water, just enough to keep your urine clear.

    • @DanCBearded
      @DanCBearded  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Chaos3volved being qualified as a regular dude, there is a ton of value in having something to shoot for, especially when it is simple. If guys have a finish line of completing a gallon before they go to bed, it is much more likely to happen as compared to telling a normal dude to keep his piss clear. I fully agree with you on the color of pee, but perspective is valuable when you think about the reason behind the gallon.

    If you've been doing this for a few months Dan, you got me beat as far as being "late to the game." Rather than having a fellow beardsman tell me, I had the "lightbulb" moment while trying to spritz the cats away from trying to eat the Christmas tree. That said, it really IS an absolute game-changer. I was doing pretty much exactly the same thing you were, which works...but between the trouble of aiming the shower wand or the worse solution of attempting to get product into dry hay, there had to be a better way! (insert TV infomerical here)
    Additionally - being a night-time shower person myself - if you're absolutely running late in the morning, the water bottle kinda reactivates any night-time products, or at least makes it a more painless experience in getting an out-the-door style with *something* on your beard. Nevertheless, it's an invaluable beard trick to have made a video on - especially since it's a dollar at a big box store or even FREE, since most people have a spray bottle just lurking around.
    Solid video, and a great start to 2020! Hope y'all are having a happy new year on your end!

    I’ve been using a spray bottle for a few months now and it’s made a significant difference. Although I use distilled water instead of tap maybe that’s a bit much but tap water where I live is pretty hard. I always use it before applying product (as mentioned makes distributing product easier) and definitely after waking up helps get rid of the bed beard haha

    For you cold shower warriors.. cold water doesn't strip natural body oils from the skin like hot does. Luke warm to cool showers are the ticket for me. When my beard touches hot water in a humid bathroom my beard is so unmanageable for the next day or maybe 2. Since I take cool showers in winter and cold showers in the summer my beard has looked so much more healthy.

    I just bought a house last year and the master bathroom needs to be redone. When I do it, I plan on having a kitchen faucet with one of those pull down faucet ends installed instead of a regular bathroom faucet. I have used the one in my kitchen in the mornings when I don't have time for a shower and being able to take the faucet end out and move it around my beard has been awesome from getting a quick beard hosing down.

    I shower in the morning every day, but will shower again at night on days when I hit the gym after work. The rest of the time I simply apply beard butter to a dry beard in the evening before bed. The spray bottle concept is interesting. I feel like there are two camps on the topic of applying beard products after a shower: guys who insist you need to let your beard dry fully before applying, and others who say you should towel dry and then apply to a damp (not soaking wet) beard. I've done both and feel that I do get slightly better results applying to a damp beard rather than dry. My beard and face definitely feel better in the mornings after days when I take a second shower in the evening.

    I am a morning shower guy, although if I get dirty enough at work, I do shower in the evening as well. I usually dry my beard to about 75% and then get the oil on my face and throughout my beard hairs. I have tried in the past to totally dry my beard first, but it didn't spread as easily causing me to have to use more oil than necessary.

    Dan C Bearded I have a thick curly nappy beard 🧔🏾. A spray bottle works wonders I’ve been doing it for months now. I never tried putting in beard products twice a day, I usually just do it once every other day. I’m also a morning shower 🚿 person as well, after the shower I put my products in. Maybe I might try putting my products in twice every other day or twice a day. My beard 🧔🏾 holds a lot products anyway and I feel that I might be over doing it if I do it twice a day, please correct me if I’m wrong.

    Do you think using a humidifier at night would help at all? Obviously the saturation difference between a spray bottle and a humidifier is substantial. I only ask because Arizona is very dry and I wonder if it has any long term affects on the beard.

    I do this exact method before bed. Mist bottle with distilled water is amazing.

    • @galenparker5658
      @galenparker5658 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, MBT is onto something here. Notice the word “mister”... A regular cheap spray bottle will indeed wet your beard, but in an uneven way; with some areas soaking wet while other areas are barely wet. Misters create a veil of moisture but won’t dribble on your clothes, sink, etc. Misters provide more even coverage and won’t get shirts or countertops wet either, as spray bottles tend to “spit” as well as spray.
      You can find cheapie sprayers at your local beauty supply store, plus you’ll probably find a bottle/mister for $5.00 or so.
      I know to some (maybe a lot?) of people will read this and think I’m taking this water bottle thing a step too far. This may be true, but it’s advice from someone who has made his living cutting and coloring hair for almost 40 years.
      Do your own test, pit a regular sprayer against a mister bottle and see for yourself. Maybe that’s why expensive fragrances come with misters/atomizers instead of spray bottles???

      I have a connection in Carmel Indiana that provides free Artesian well water that has been providing locals a pristine pure water for 30 years or so. It seems to be unlimited. The estimate is that this well of water is over 10,000 years old. Who knows., but let me tell you that I as a lover of water have never tasted a nectar as delicious as this water. I bought store water just to pour it out in order to have gallon jugs to fill up with this water for free except for my time and water jugs.
      Nothing compares to this water. I personally only drink coffee, water and merlot.
