    I found it much easier to get to the resistor by sliding out the computer and drop the blower motor which is held in with 3 screws. Saved me a ton of aggravation and only added about 5 minutes time to the project.

    Awesome DIY video ! I've replaced 3 blower motor resistors in two Chevy Prizm's and your video mirrored my experiences--- save for the much more painstaking removal steps on this particular vehicle. You even offer up a twist in your how-to-saga with the relay influence / cause. THEN you follow up with the "oh, by the way," when you re-tested the original resistor...Yes!...exemplifying the scientific approach to problem resolution ie: what is the root cause?
    Again, Great Video ! -- Thanks !

    It's a good thing you went thru what you did , and assume it was just the resistor, that way you found out the problem..also we can test further before parts changing.. Hey it was a learning experience for us all..

    Thanks for the video. I have a 2001 Buick Century and the lowest two speeds don't blow. I hope replacing the resistor on my Buick is like you did for your car? I will also check out the relays. Thanks for showing how. I replaced the resistor on my 2002 Silverado and fixed the low fans speeds not working, now they work so I am hoping for a similar success on my 2001 Buick Century.

    Great video, I'm currently getting ready to replace this in my 2003 Oldsmobile Alero. I just hope mine is as easy to replace as you made it look in yours :)

      Twiki Robot If I remember correctly it should be pretty straight forward, there's one bolt in the back that might be hard to get to but thats it. GL

    This is a very helpful video in diagnosing the root cause of the issue. Could you please tell me where can you buy the Blower Resistor and HVAC relay??

    Just did this repair a few days ago. Way easier if you drop the blower motor and computer.

    found it easyer when putting the larger cover back on to take the glove box out and hold the circular air pipe that connects to the large cover. it makes sure it slides back in fully and doesnt leak air

      Only thing my fuse and resistor panel does not mention hvac blower. Mine is a 2005

  • @curtish9886

    Hey RnW, what would be your professional guess on what is wrong if the problem was more absolute. Like for me either the whole climate control panel works on all settings, fans, buttons, etc. Or nothing works at all, like no fan settings no buttons, just dead. It randomly stops and starts working at times, and also it isn't a fuse, i checked that first.

    how bout 2005 monte ss supercharged. blend actuator driver side not opening for warm air. .
    I took it out. put power. runs both directions. .
    I re-connect. turn key on engine off. turn speed up half . blend door actuator runs none stop in both directions when selector is moved up and down..
    I take key off. it stops. turn key to run ...engine off ...does not work at all again. .
    weird. I work a lot. tackle issues once. a week. .please give your thoughts. passenger side blend door actuator work perfect. ..

    So if none of the settings work it's the resistor?

  • @mattwoolley
    @mattwoolley 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    All blower settings working except for for five. So I bought a new resistor. #5 still nothing. Tried to switch relays as suggested.#5 still not working. I suppose I could go through all what you did and clean everything but something tells me it's not that. Any other possible weak link I can check? Fuses all good too.

      Have you resolved your issue Matt?

    • @mattwoolley
      @mattwoolley 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No.... It's the highest setting to is dead. 1-4 or 3 whichever work great. I hit the highest and pfft. Nothing.

      Have you tried a simple electrical contact cleaner on the switch? I have not even began the work yet on mine but plan on it this weekend. I don't know what parts cost but imagine any auto parts carry parts like these for US cars.

      @@mattwoolley real late reply ... are you sure you control dial isn't slipping ? Switch the dial between the hot cold and the speed select

  • @joe47D
    @joe47D 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    My blower motor doesn't work on any of the speeds, unless you slap the underside of the glove box and it starts working again. I'll check the relay and fuses before I buy a new resistor. ('04 Pontiac Vibe).

    I don't know why people call this body style a 2004 .. the 2004 was the first model year for the new body style
