When they showed off the work to make stair/object traversal it was quite impressive. Funny to see it with emotes and I can only imagine future emotes. Wonder what kind of fun bugs can be caused with this too though.
@@Codewow It came with the CryEngine. You can see tech reels demonstrating their procedural inverse kinematics systems, which is one of the reasons (along with Global Illumination) that CIG went with CryEngine. Cut down on years worth of animation work.
The fact the dance emote doesn’t make the character walk on air when stepping back and instead take a step down the stairs is kind of mind boggling. Edit: I do already own the game, I love it (you don’t even need to spend much money to play, less than most AAA games). Yes, it’s mind boggling because it is so rare to see it applied even though the tech isn’t all that new. Not sure why so many people think snarkiness makes them look smarter haha
I don't know if ppl are joking when they make these type of comment or not but in case you are serious, most of these space stations have their own gravity generator just like how every ship in the game has one. It's not realistic but it is a real mechanic in the game so he wouldn't float back to space when walking backwards on the stairs. There are some abandoned stations without gravity tho. I wonder how it goes there but the thing is you can't even go to "standing on top of the stairs" animation on no gravity places so I don't know what will be the result of that emote.
Can we just stop a moment to take a look at how the characters interacts flawlessly with the step on the stairs when he's dancing? he goes up and down the step when he should move forwards and back. And the interaction is all natural, didn't interfere at all with the dancing animation. I'm very impressed, we don't see this kind of detail nowadays.
