I like the way even the motor noise sounded sad when it broke. Poor Voron.

Retraction? We don't have time for Retraction.
something at 5mm @ mach 1.2
I have an idea that might help with high speed accuracy. Try balancing the print head, so it has equal weight above and below the arm/beam. If you hold a pencil balanced, it doesn't move around much when you mover your arm
👍 This is something I have thought about
This will help. Very important. 😀
Even better, try and get it dynamically balanced, not just statically balanced!
@@lio1234234 is this the goal of input shaper? Not for the nozzle itself but rather as a way of "balancing" the whole hot end by changing the frequencies it moves at?
@sgfhk321 Wait, it was doing that with an extruder motor flinging around? I figured this had to be bowden to be moving like that!
You must hover over emergency stop like a drone ready to land!
Also I've been playing with high speeds on my v0.1 lately. It's fun.
Steppers are not strong enough to make any real damage to anything and by the time it fucks up it had fucked up and gone long before yous slow ass gets to the emg stop. Even on an actual real cnc turning center I dont get anything done with the emg stop. If it done fucked up then it done fucked up.
@@TommiHonkonen grammar wow
@@raymondelder5004 To be honest it kinda adds a certain sense of fucking up to the comment that just makes it better
have you guys never heard this expression? "you done fucked up"
it's for fun
@@raymondelder5004 it’s a phrase, not a grammar issue. From the south in US, i think.
At this point I am just impressed that they don’t flip themselves over with all that energia
Because the print head isn't that heavy.
Inertia*
@@cseblivestreaming Basically said inertia and energy in the same word
@@INeedAttentionEXE Big brain. Five headglish
My god, it's going so fast I can't see the print.
Just my thought: at huge accelerations the inertia of the xy carrige is quite substantial and may shake the frame too much. To counter this it may be possible to have an oposing mass driven by the same carrige (when head moves left, that counter mass moves right, same forward and backward). This will necesitate a bigger stepper (to move more mass) but on the up side it will smooth out the vibrations on the frame. (it will not smooth the ringing of the xy axys of the print since the head is moving the same, but at least it will not shake like crazy on the table).
Same principle from engines.. one piston moves up and the other moves down countering the translational inertia.. (this is in very simple terms engine ballance)
A couple people have suggested this, I appreciate the simplicity of the design but it would halve my available torque so I probably won't do this tbh. I am on a work trip rn and plan to pour an 30kg base for it when I get back
I wonder if you could link two motors to achieve this - I'm thinking weight always goes up in a losing battle....
Then the forces will travel through the tiny frame and flex it. Best would be to counter the forces right at gantry height by having dampening mass there instead of at the bottom. VzBot for example uses a simple but powerful approach with the wall anchors.
@@fail_fast I understand that modifying and redesigning parts it's a hastle and not feasble. You try to push the limits with minimal changes and that is great on it's own.
For the hypothetical fastest travel would need bigger steppers or even servos (to avoid step skipping) that are expensive and have more mass but the steppers are fixed to frame on corexy so mass is not an issue. Belts may need an upgrade if they become the weak link.
In theory it is doable but it necesitates a lot of money and time to solve any other issues. (Like heat capacity of the hot end)
Or just put the printer upside down: th-cam.com/video/ZAPaOevoeX0/w-d-xo.html
Wow, did you emergency stop it by hand or was that automatic fault detection? Cause if it's the latter, I'm very impressed; if it's the former, honestly even more so, that was less than a third of a second from the crack to a complete stop xD

I think you mean her husband xD
1500mm/s with a camera at 30fps is 50mm of movement per frame, because it looks like there’s several frames of movement end to end, you probably don’t have enough room or power to reach those speeds despite setting that in software.
Could be wrong and this is super cool either way.
It does reach those speeds. At 50k accel it takes 22.5mm to reach 1,500mm/s. So on a such a small build volume and at only 50k I'm only reaching top speed for about 30mm in the center of the vase. With my new motors I have 3x the acceleration so I'd be able to, I'm ballparking here, to get up to 1500 in just over 10mm. IIRC 1000mm/s is like 1 mm or 2mm at 150k. While 1500 is a bit of a stretch in practice 1000 is totally doable on this machine
This robot could probably play through the fire and flames with some minor tweaks
Wha... What do I do with this information?
Pioneering designs in fast moving gantries are using "kevlar belts", IE tensioned high test fishing line gantries. Something tells me it's on the rep rap wiki. Having seen it, you should look into that.
Sounds like a horror movie soundtrack
What if you add a double belt system and offset the teeth by 180 degrees to each other to increase grip and acceleration.
I haven't heard this idea before, what do you mean?
So instead of having one belt per axis you use 2 belts. Belts have teeth like gears so you offset the 2 belts a bit so the teeth of the one belt takes the place of the gap in the second belt.
Sorry for interrupting . But you can exchange the rubber belt with metal durable belt along with the teeth gear system . You will have 0 error .but the machine will act like earth quake in that speed
@@abeditani8293 I've also seen people use steel wire, never heard about how it went performance wise but it could be something neat to test one day. Even if its just on a testing x axis
@@OfficialyMax skip steel and go straight to aramids
I have laughed at this uncontrollably for days now

1. Wow
2. I hope it didn't break (not expected with these things)
3. That was some fire beats, ngl.
I might lower the print speed but I'm no expert
A million views soon
Oh so that is how I am going to make music from now and then.
Please set this to a sound track, probably some hella heavy metal
It's just very excited to print!
Congrats! You've found!
Did you find another weak point in a plastic piece’s design? Or did a metal piece break? These speeds are so fast even @ 0.25% speeds its a bit difficult to identify what actually gave way in this video from what I could see.
When the electrons go BRRRR….the photons go BLUUURRR! 😜
The motor skipped a step, I ran out of torque at this speed and acceleration
The limits of speed, amazing!
This made my eye twitch in intriguing way
This is what a panic attack sounds like
We’ve hit a new era of rapid prototyping
even the homing speed is faster than my print speed...
lol the anxiety building up, also so fast hard to tell what happened
STANDING HERE, I REAALIZE
When the channel name is on point… 😂
This gave me anxiety, thanks!
Damn this beat fire🔥🔥🔥🔥
the belts appear to be slipping.
have you tried using hairspray on them?
This is art
I think you want to try some of those silent stepper drivers. Creality makes a silent board you could try/s
They already are silent steppers 😁 48v makes them much louder
Oooof was that a skipped gear? These Vorons are suicidal little beasts
I was expecting a puff of smoke, and a fart noise.
I legit thought the motors were programmed to play William Tell overture final at the first seconds
Sounded like you ran out of torque and need more powerful motors to run that speed, possibly a higher supply voltage to the step drivers would help, but ultimately steppers like every other permanent magnet motor are cursed at high speeds.
I was waiting for the bass to drop.
Nice new edm song DJ 3D in da house
any major damage or is it only what is obvious
I think the End Line Specs on the Rotary Girder wasn't quite right
Is mm/s the velocity?
If so 1500mm/s would be 1.5 m/s which is pretty fast for a 3D printer
yep. It's moving at 1.5m/s
That’s one of my favorite songs
How Hollywood thinks 3D printers work
Ouch. Lost steps due to the speed? Did the belt slip?
Nope, motor just skipped a step. I'm getting towards the limits with my current setup. I'm currently using a NLGI 2 bearing Grease in my linear rails, it's pretty thick so I could clean it out and run a lighter oil to reduce drag and increase top speed
The noise is quite similar to a sound effect in the movies 2001 a space odyssey / 2010 the year we made contract.
I cant put my finger on the specific scene.
Yeah you could hear it screaming in agony at the last few seconds there
It looked like it was performing a ritual
I do it so often I suppose it is some sort of ritual now 😁
What was fan speed at ???
The extra steps in speed are one of the many sounds you can attribute to _anxiety personified._
Sensorles homing ?
Looks great!
What accels are you running?
I think this was 65k
What the pitch of the root note?
trying to lift off into space XD
Now actually print at that speed. Come on........Do iiiiiiiiit
I can smell the burning belts
ok this might be dumb, what if you change the gear ratios of the printer itself? could get more speed with less motor strain?
That's a good question. Changing the gearing basixaly just let's you trade acceleration for speed. I.e. If I got from a 16t to 32t pulley. My acceleration would be halved but my top speed would double.
It's something I'm going to do on the Speed Daddy build
cool! Im big into rcs and didnt know if it would translate! have you changed motors on this one? sorry new subscriber haha
man, i've g o t t a get a voron someday.
someone get this man a high speed camera
how'd that make nemgrea feel?
XD
Seems a little to slow :-D
Damn that's looking good, looks like it due to torque
At what voltage do the Steppers run? Maybe increase it
Read the description, it says he's running 48V during that test and was trying to find the limits. ;)
POV: the your doing your homework as the teachers collecting it
I actually checked if I had the video on 2x playback speed
What do u print, tabletop figures?🤣
To be fair, printing them yourself is a million times more economical than the overpriced brittle stuff they sell nowadays...
Well... there's only one way to find the limits. What actually failed?
Exactly! The motor just skipped a step. Nbd
I found the problem, your bed isnt level
I find this oddly amusing
Glados would approve
Maybe a limit switch is required XD
