So, a cute detail from the opening movie: When Dedede get's king-napped and he get's taken through the castle roof, you can see the castle's eyes go from "Angry eyes" to "Sad eyes".
This has happened since Kirby's Dream Land 1! It's a really fun detail to see. This is the second time we see Dedede's castle in 3D as well (the first being through cutscenes in Super Star Ultra). I definitely love when they use the old design from the old days, it's just iconic.
I always thought it was less “sad-eyes” and more “OW-eyes” since, if you consider the castle being alive and with feelings, breaking the roof would be kinda like pulling something out of its head.
Actually, the orange star signifies that it’s a “round trip” door, or one that can be re-entered from the other side. Because secrets are usually in side rooms, the round trip doors are usually used so that Kirby can get back to the main path, while in the main path most doors are one way. This means that secret doors are almost always if not always orange, but that’s not technically what the orange signifies.
Correct. They didn't get their orange door appearance until Return to Dream Land, and both it and later Kirby games would contain areas that would not have specific special things within them like Sun Stones, just neat prizes. Additionally, the 3D Warp Stars also apply the same coloring. The 3D Star before the Hypernova segment in Level 1 was all orange which meant you could go back and forth between planes. A yellow 3D Warp Star is just a one-way trip. (Though the game does sometimes like to put 2 yellow 3D Stars a bit of a distance from each other, technically allowing you to run back to the first 1-way.)
Pretty much any Kirby game in the current Kumazaki era has that charm to it. "This is fun, relaxing..." Kumazaki and team: "Hey, if you read the boss descriptions we're going to tell you about this ancient civilization and how the current universe came to be and the true nature of Kirby and the stars..."

As pointed out, a lot of early (despite this being released in 2014) 3DS games had some kind of 3D in the title, which this was part of a pun on. Additionally as you mentioned, Super Deluxe was an inspiration for the title. I want to say that part of the title's decision may have come from Iwata, who worked on Super Deluxe as HAL's president, but that's purely speculation. This is, however, sadly the last Main Kirby series title (Rainbow Curse was a spin-off) that Iwata-san would have seen released in his lifetime, :(
The name "Triple Deluxe" actually comes from a combination of 3D, referencing the game's main gimmick, and X, the Roman numeral for 10. Kirby: Triple Deluxe is the tenth main series Kirby game (excluding remakes): Kirby's Dream Land, Kirby's Adventure/Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, Kirby's Dream Land 2, Kirby Super Star/Kirby Super Star Ultra, Kirby's Dream Land 3, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, Kirby: Squeak Squad, and Kirby's Return to Dream Land are the nine that precede it (11 if you count remakes). When put together, it becomes 3DX. DX can mean "deluxe," and 3 became "triple," and thus Kirby: Triple Deluxe received its name. However, the focus on King Dedede is also probably not a coincidence, as is Kirby Super Star's Japanese name.

Some fun facts about the motifs used in the intro music: -(1:23) This part just comes from Floral Fields. -(1:50) The motif when the Dreamstalk appears is used... somewhere else in the game that’s very thematically appropriate. -(2:20) This part draws its music from the Hypernova motif, since the Miracle Fruit stems greatly resemble the Dreamstalk. It's also used in the same area as the "somewhere else" song. -(2:59). The motif where Taranza appears was later used and remixed in later games (the Kirby Clash games and Star Allies, specifically) as his theme. It’s also loosely based on Dedede’s theme. -(3:27). This melody is taken from Green Greens. Thanks to Yuni X2 for bringing it to my attention! -(3:32). This part also sounds like the "somewhere else" song, but it's actually from the intro of the Boss Battle music. Thanks to Zeromaru X for pointing it out!

Yeah, exactly. It's a sequel to return to dreamland, and you actually have to know amazing mirror to understand the story of the game fully, so even the thing of the previous lore is wrong. I'm getting a bit nervous now. Does he know that he needs to read the pause screen descriptions for the bosses? And he's even mentioning the anime as important multiple times too...
@@Fannintendociccio1 Knew I'd see a comment like this when he said that. Considering he said so on his Twitter, yes he pauses. Also it was ENVISIONED as a sequel to Super Star. Quite obviously that was changed in development.
8:47 And you just summed up what the majority of the Kirby fandom is thinking. I never thought I'd see the day where you play this game! I'm really excited to see how it all turns out!
I definitely agree on this. Ultra Sword was new to Smash for 3DS and Wii U which came out the same year as this game, so I don't think it was factored in to when making that game. So when Smash 3DS/U started it's development, RtDL would have been the most recent... That said, could have changed it for Ultimate, haha. There's a lot of cool things Kirby can do now for a Final Smash thanks to the recent games! Though admittedly, this one does feel the most appropriate... How... how did you miss on the saying “Getting your bell rung?” That aside I love the ending picture of a full Kirby in the ice cream bowl! If only it was pink ice cream then it would’ve fit into that previous vid.
Broom Hatters have been around since day one, back in the original Kirby's Dream Land. They were finally special enough to give you a copy ability in Kirby's Dream Land 3... and then that was abandoned for nearly 2 decades. But they can do it again now! With a new hat even!
I remember when star allies almost came out, I marathoned Kirby triple deluxe and planet robot before it came out. The first time I played both those games, I gave up on them, but that marathon was what truly got me into Kirby again.
No but really, anyone into hema (historical European martial arts), or any historical weapons/combat subject, should recognize the spear and shield as the undisputed melee weapon combo that dominated history. It's still spears without a shield. Sword and shield is probably either second or third (depending on whether spears alone were more common, I'd lean second rather than third). Then probably are and shield in third with spears alone really being fourth. Unless you're in full plate or equivalent, a shield is basically necessary because ranged weapons.

Remember when every 3DS title had to have 3D in it's name? Kirby was pretty clever with that. I always feels this game gets a bit shadowed by Planet Robobot and Return to Dream Land, but it's quite solid on it's own, so I'm happy to see some spotlight for it.
I remember playing Return to Dream Land in preparation for when this game came out... I reevaluated Return to Dream Land at the time and thought it was amazing.... Then I played this and it blew RtDL out of the water for me!
Honestly, this is probably the strongest set of games in the entire franchise. Return to Dreamland being the set up, with Triple Deluxe being the game to show off all the new tricks Kirby could do, Planet Robobot showing fans that Nintendo still cares about them and finally, Star Allies to top off all the lore of the games.
It makes me wonder if they knew they were going to make more Kirby game and what they were going to star, since Return to Dreamland actually establishes that there are multiple Novas, all being created by Magolor's race, which comes into play with Planet Robobot. This is why I love Kirby so much: The Kirby games have deep lore, but you don't have to get into the lore if you don't want to.
I've always felt that Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot were sibling games. Triple Deluxe has a fairy tale/nature theme and heavily features King Dedede, while Planet Robobot has a mechanical theme and heavily features Meta Knight. Both have two side modes which became full games of their own, both have a boss/subordinate antagonist duo (Taranza + Sectonia and Susie + Haltman), and of course, both have incredibly dark and twisted backstories for the antagonists, per Kirby tradition.
I’m not one to watch past game playthroughs, but this was my first Kirby game, and I just love your enthusiasm! I kinda like the showcase vibe this video has. I watched this while playing smash online and it prevented me from getting salty! Your optimism is contagious

17:02 I’m surprised you actually thought to use the Air Bullet to hit that Bomb Block. Practically no Let’s Player of Kirby ever thinks to use that. The slide could still see some use, though
Really? That's odd as I thought it would be an obvious choice... (After all, if you wanted to get up that high you'd need to puff up so using the attack button would make you do an air bullet...) The more you know though, (>'.'~)v
1:24 When I played this game for the first time, I just thought the recurring butterfly was just a nice little detail. It hits different in hindsight, though saying why would spoil an extra mode in Kirby Star Allies.
This is a very nostalgic game for me, as it not only reminds me of your Kirby’s Epic Yarn Let’s Play, but it also inspired me quite a bit when I was first truly getting into game design! This is such an awesome pick to see, and I’m hyped for some Bell and Circus craziness! Cheers, Chuggaa, and thanks for the consistent optimism!
It’s started. I’ve been waiting forever for this and it’s finally here. Thank you Chuggaconroy for making me jump into bed at 10:00PM every night to watch this
"Not like there's super deep lore that you gotta know in order to play this one." *Are you sure about that?* Edit: Just as a side note, I was trying to make a funny, but failed miserably.
Hey there, Chugga. I'm not actually expecting you to read this, but I feel I need to express just how important you and your channel are to me. I recently moved from halfway across the world to work in a big institute, away from the three people I ever truly considered family. And when I got here I was alone. I didn't know anyone, I didn't know the language, their costumes, it was just me against the world. But then I sit down one day to finally relax a bit. I see you started a new let's play and begin to watch it. And the moment I heard "Hello everybody, it's Chuggaaconroy!" I felt at home again. To think that it's not the parting with my family, but your cheerful voice that would make me cry. You remind me of home, because you were always there. Thank you for everything, Emile. Never forget the impact you have on the lives of so many.
This has been a nostalgic rollercoaster for me. Super Mario Galaxy 2 was one of the first video games I ever played, so obviously that holds nostalgic value to me. If you couldn't tell by my pfp, I love the Kirby franchise to bits, and Kirby: Triple Deluxe was the first Kirby game I ever played. What a time to be me.
It’s crazy that this back up that was cobbled together is such a classic that just listening to triple deluxe music makes me want to watch again. Kirby at its finest
Oddly enough, my very first Kirby was Crystal Shards. Then my dad got me a ds lite and I played Squeak Squad and Super Star Ultra. Chuggas let's play also made me get Epic Yarn. Then I play this game, and it blew me away all over again. Kirby can be a bit challenging to 100% if you go for it, and bosses can be difficult. I just love this series. I'm sure someday I can get some of the older games I missed out on that were created before my time.
So, a cute detail from the opening movie: When Dedede get's king-napped and he get's taken through the castle roof, you can see the castle's eyes go from "Angry eyes" to "Sad eyes".
Just like the old days
This has happened since Kirby's Dream Land 1! It's a really fun detail to see. This is the second time we see Dedede's castle in 3D as well (the first being through cutscenes in Super Star Ultra). I definitely love when they use the old design from the old days, it's just iconic.
I wonder what secret mechanics Dedede uses to make his castle do that...
I always thought it was less “sad-eyes” and more “OW-eyes” since, if you consider the castle being alive and with feelings, breaking the roof would be kinda like pulling something out of its head.
Wait does that mean his castle is Omniscient? Is it a god like kabuu?

(even if it is similar to Luigi's now then...)

"no on ever references skyward sword"
[cries in nintendo land]
ClefairyRox Robobot and Triple Deluxe have a duality to them.
Duality? Dual screens...? No? Okay.
I’m not one to watch past game playthroughs, but this was my first Kirby game, and I just love your enthusiasm! I kinda like the showcase vibe this video has. I watched this while playing smash online and it prevented me from getting salty! Your optimism is contagious
