I notice a lot of negative comments regarding the foreigners. I think they are actually doing some good, and I am very critical of so called "charities". Like many other places in Africa, local people are beginning to see the value in protecting the lands they live upon. Even if it is for the commercial benefit for the Europeans to be buying the local cola nuts, their entrepreneurial example is beneficial to Africans. In other words, it may well inspire some of the local villagers to start their own businesses. And one cannot criticize the direct infrastructure improvements made in that village. I would hope that someday, a health clinic could be established and some of the young ladies sent to study to be nurses. As for someone's criticism of the serving of the cola drinks: yes, cola drinks are not healthy, but I suspect the villagers cannot afford to purchase cola drinks anyway, and this was a "one time treat". Possibly nutritional education at the forthcoming clinic might help.

The point is they should be gaining that knowledge to do it themselves eventually. It’s a good concept but the way that business is potentially being exploited, I doubt those villagers are getting some ownership stake, let alone being even told that they can have stake in the business. And if it is, I hope it’s in paper. That being said, the biodiversity part is the biggest justification for this business arrangement.

If they didn't put in the work this business wouldn't thrive.
These guys have the same resources in their factories to make sure these people are better taken care of. Get the fuck out of here with that. They may not have anything but if you were in the same situation you ain't gonna work your ass off for a multimillion dollar company just so you can get one fucking appreciation meal. They know how to cook for themselves. Smh....

The guy said a few bags of cola nut sets his family up for the year ya dumb fk, investment in learning and self efficiency and progression not just as individuals but a collective. What you doing, dont your company video helping anyone anywhere. Fk bro it's like you don't want anybody to even give a little to people that don't have much at all, there's 2 companys working in that village now.
1% of a million doller company is $10000 dollers invested into the community, 2 companys $20000, that's $20000 taken from the mouths of people from of people in their own country, but it comes down to ethical business practice which is part of their business model. I doubt it's $20000 but it's better then nothing and no assistance. That village is going to grow and prosper and create good humans not because solely of these companys but because of the great foundations these elders and parents are setting down.
Same resource in factory doesn't translate to a price sensitive product. Every body expecting free hand outs, hey help these people completely or don't help them at all. That's bullshit thinking.
