This video documents the experience of a Minecraft player who decided to try out some VHS style Minecraft shaders.

when i try to switch my shaders to the MC VHS shader, it dosent work and it says that it "couldnt load the shader"
That was a perfect representation of the liminal space effect! I was caught off guard by the drop into the backrooms and the quietness of the environment. Truly a chilling experience 👍

I would actually really like to see a mod like this, where every time you die from fall damage/Elytra kinetic energy, there’s a small chance you get teleported to the Backrooms

I am also really glad there was no spooky dooky spindly monster chasing you , making loud noises but instead the true scary part about the backroos , the alien but fammiliar atmosphere , the isolation , feeling like you are somewhere you were never supposed to be
Yes, you get it! What was initially scary about the Backrooms was the liminality of it. It's a place that rarely works in favor of those trapped within. Happy you enjoyed!
I would like Minecraft to look like this, but I would like them to tone down the intensity of the effect a bit. If Minecraft is already mysterious, this would make it even more so.
Yeah, I definitely wouldn't use this for normal play. In my behind the scenes video, you can see what everything looks like without the shaders

Pretty dope, youtube randomly recommended this to me, not gonna lie, the backrooms thing is very dated, but this got me invested, no unnecessary jumpscares, everything seemed well constructed even with the limitation of a relatively small map, sfx, ambiance, all in all, it was a very nice experience, keep it up, you're doing an incredible job

I think I liked this! The story was engaging and was coherent and easy to follow, and was able to achieve its goals and themes that it wanted to convey to the viewer. Even though there were some parts where I could tell that some things were reused heavily (tiny sets) and you were just going in circles, it definitely didn't break my immersion and everything still felt real.
I think the strong points in this video were the soundtrack and usage of sound, the strategically placed video cuts (made the video seem longer than it was), your acting (especially the 'interview'), and lastly the mod that actually kinda helped to sell it.

Yeah I think it'd be scarier to go in a cave in vanilla and there not being any mobs
clicked on this genuinely without reading the full title js wanting to actually see the shaders, and was truly taken aback and caught off guard by the shift in tone and style with the drop into the backrooms. it felt a bit cliche/cringe at first, but quickly (to me at least) it got creepy and unsettling, most noticeably the cake/painting scene. that narrow passage really freaked me out and i felt when you turned around you were gonna see something. very well made video and nothing but props to you! hope your channel continues to do well

Ironic thing is i thought it was a shader review so i immediately went "ah this would work perfectly for the backrooms map im making" and after saving it and setting it in my notes, i clicked back on the video and quickly burst to laughter when you fell down. Defo gonna nab this shader for it, is the flashlight included in the shaders or added by a mod?
Lol! Guess we had similar thoughts. Saw this shader on reddit and thought, "this would make for a good backrooms video". I recommend you watch my behind the scenes video, I explain everything more in depth. The flashlight and camera are my own remodels of certain items. The visual flashlight effect is part of the shaders.

First thing, I alway wondered if someone on this platform will make something like this. A "joke" that will continue for entirety of the video and I have to say, it was incedible and I am so glad you had the balls to do something such extraordinary. The second thing is this might be one of the best backrooms video I have ever seen! No monsters in sight just an eerie feeling that samone is watching and daunting feeling of loneliness and sheer scale of the location you found yourself in. This video is a masterpiece and you just earned a new sub, cheers!

It doesn't exist in the bedrock version, right? And if so, are you planning to do one? Because I've been looking for ones like this for a long time and I only found one for Java, since I love everything related to VHS
@@DARKNES_26 As far as I am aware, these shaders only exist in Java. Most shaders made in the past for Bedrock don't work anymore ever since they updated their rendering engine. I don't ever really use shaders so I haven't looked into it, I simply found these shaders the other day and it spawned the idea for this video.

Super fun video! Though, if I may offer some light commentary...
SPOILERS AHEAD
The player's reactions are a BIT odd in context. It felt kinda weird that they made a big stink about not wanting to go down a dark area, then they find a flashlight... And then they don't check out the dark area ever again. Also, as much as the Cake Room was disconcerting, it was more than a little odd for someone who kept harping on about how hungry and desperate they were just... Didn't even really *acknowledge* a full cake sitting in front of them, simply because the vibes in the room were weird (especially when he later DOES take a bite out of a different, far more threateningly offered cake). Like, I get that you're trying to convey unease we the audience can't feel as a justification... But to that point, outlining why that unease is *trumping other reasonable feelings and thoughts* should also be a thing you make note of at least semi-explicitly. Otherwise it just makes the character come off as kinda flighty, and maybe a little unpleasant, for how they seemingly conflict with their own interests. After all, unless you give a good, specific justification for why they keep running away from all the "somethings" the find, it seems a little counterintuitive for them to then complain about how they keep finding nothing.
Keep up the good work, though! You've clearly got some talent that I hope you both recognize and appreciate. I wish you all the best long-term. :)
Hey, thanks for this constructive criticism. In all honesty, I kind of winged this video with some loose ideas on what I wanted to do. It wasn't super planned out! I semi-agree with your points. You see, the backrooms is a place that works entirely against those who are within it. This place seems barely survivable, so something too obviously helpful is easy to not take trust in. I'd say as for why he eats the second cake, is that so much time has passed that much of his sanity and reasoning abilities have been lost out of desperacy. But yeah, I probably should have also said something like "what else can I do?" Before eating the second cake. Thanks for your feedback!

When i used these shaders, no matter what, a tnt particle effect would constantly play in the center and corners of my screen….

yo make your backrooms with sandstone ceiling, yellow frog light, grass path floor, and bamboo blocks only, not the mosaic, and you could put bamboo planks under the walls for rims

You could’ve used sandstone for the walls and stripped birch as the floor but the roof is 👍
I think bamboo perfectly fits the vertical yellow pattern seen in the backrooms. The only change I would make is using haybales for the floor
Ok so when you got to the poolrooms you should’ve found some iron and wood made a bucket then get some water and put the water on the glass and break it. It’s that easy! (Jokes aside this is really cool)
Lol, not sure if you noticed but in the beginning of the first backrooms portion of the video, I couldn't break any blocks. (I put myself in adventure mode).

Custom built. I'm using the programmer art pack as well as the programmer art ultimate pack as shown in the beginning of the video. If you watch the Behind the Scenes video, I show off the build and explain the custom items
