it looks like yew wood, most common wood for English longbow. yes the core is used on the inside of the bow, the belly, because it compresses very well. the lightwood is on the outside of the bow because its much more flexible and stretches well. hope that helps
@@shaymingreen1107 wow ty that does help can you clear this up for me, so I would carve a bow with the core facing away from me? And also do you think mesquite wood can work
That looks like pine to me is that not a hardwood? I don't know why I'm beginning to see all your archery posts but some of them are quite interesting especially that strange bow with multiple tips
Nice work 👏👏👏The main problem is there are no more inamies to shoot on 😏😆....IT'S CRAZY in the movies when they say "fire" on shooting arrows 🤦...stoopid as hell ....mind blowing 🤯 .The right word that middle eages's officer said to the bowman soldiers must be : SHOOT or RELEASE or UNLEASH (franch origine words)

All the best guys!!
Just starting my archery adventure. Loving it so far.. Great video
Thank you, all the best to you!!
This guy has my dream job. What a delight to watch all these transformations. From a piece of wood to a bow.
Glad you like it 💪
Another awesome bow. Is that European yew?
Yes, it is. Thank you!!
Yew know it!
@kunuelo5576 this guy is a jester
Out of curiosity how many pounds is the draw? And the speed of the Arrow if you have a way of finding out?
Felicitaciones...que madera usas?
It's yew wood
Wish I am near your place so that I could learn to make bows and arrows from you or just buy them to my specifications.
Absolutely beautiful work 😁
Thank you!
Fantastic job just wish you had of left a little more meat around the knots on the belly some of them may start to check over time
Interesting and thanks. Noticed that there was no oiling of the wood. Wouldn't the wood dry out pretty quick?
I always seal my bows either with oil or varnish 👊 Sorry might not be shown in the vid
Wow! That wood is so flexible. I was surprised how thick it was when you started tillering.
Is there any way I could order one of these from u ?
I feel like it is a joke bow with 20 pounds of draw weight
Please correct me if I'm wrong
No lol. This bow is 55-65 pounds easily.
Where can I buy ,yew wood or yew bow
What tools do I need. What about whit oak is it good . Thx again . Excellent 👍
Drawknife, hatchet, scraper, rasp - these are basic tools. I think I've seen some white oak bows but I've never used it by myself
How do you get wood that bendy
I used ash greenwood
Is there less elasticity in greenwood or might it be it hasn't been dried enough
Good tillering is the key 👍🏻
Greenwood is more prone to taking set and makes slower bows
How much for 1 bow ?
How much would a bow like that cost? 100-120lb
At the moment I don't have material for such a high poundage bow. See bows in stock here: dreamcraftbows.com/en_GB/new
Hey nice longbow! Are there any common Australian woods they you would recommend for bow making?
Thank you! To be honest I have no idea what woods can be found out there
I wish I could just go find a yew staff here in the western us. I'm working on a sycamore bow, it may actually work!
Yew is tough wood to score here in Poland too. Sycamore is a decent one, good luck with your build 💪
What kind of wood do you use to make these bows and how do you identify the correct tree type?
This one was built from yew wood. There are plenty of characteristics to identify tree type. The best ones are: leaves, bark and overall tree shape
❤ That's awesome!!! How many pounds on the pull?🏹🏹🏹

What would is this and did you use the core area?
