  • Today, we decided to feature a local favorite from our hometown, called Captain's Galley Seafood Restaurant.
    They give great portions of good seafood for the price.

    Looks like a great place! Will have to try if we are ever up that way. Kind of reminds me of a place called the Mayflower Seafood just up the road from us.

    You both make us smile. It’s nice to see a secure, kind marriage in which you two are clearly friends. What more could one hope for in life? Enjoyed this local review. We too, go out to eat after church on Sunday. Our church gets out a bit earlier than most, so we avoid the rush.

    This looked like a good seafood place. We have a place here in Lynchburg called Harbor Inn Seafood and this place reminds me a lot of the place we have. Harbor Inn gives you a lot of food for your money as well. Your food looked good and if we ever get to Granite Falls we will have to stop and try it. That coleslaw look good and the shrimp looked good. Thanks for sharing!! Have a great week!!

      We actually used to have a couple of Harbor Inns around here. I wonder if it was the same chain? I don't know if there are still any left in this area. There was a great one in Columbia, SC, that we ate at when our son was at Ft. Jackson. The one I specifically remember eating at several times here, is gone.

    they have a captains galley in daindridge tenn. that is about 45 minutes from our home in sevierville. they have the best hush puppies. you could order one plate for two and you get plenty. it has been a while since we have been but we love it every time we go.

    • @NCMemoryMakers

      They are pretty good, for the amount of food you get, and the price you pay.

    The hush puppies look like the frozen ones, which I don’t care for,but the fish and shrimp looked good and that is really a large portion. That is a lot of food for the price. If I lived in the area it would be a place I would go to.

    • @NCMemoryMakers

      The hush puppies aren't terrible, but would probably be my least favorite part. But to be so far inland, we love the food there.

    Your food looked so good and it was a good price for what you got. We live in a small town and the only seafood place we have is Captain D's. We enjoy seafood and really miss it here. The only non- chain seafood restaurant we had was destroyed by a fire. It was so good but sadly they did not rebuild.

      Nothing wrong with good chicken tenders. I just normally go to seafood places for the fish. It's just what a person's preference happens to be.

    I grew up right across the highway from there, the street you looked over at with the Welcome sign. Captain's Galley is one of my favorite seafood restaurants. Granite Falls has changed some, but not a whole lot. It was like Mayberry when my mom was growing up in Granite Falls.

    • @NCMemoryMakers
      @NCMemoryMakers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's awesome! Yes, Granite Falls has changed some over the years. Certainly more dining options than when I was growing up.

      There was a white house right there, that is mostly hidden by the trees now. I always remember a patrol car being parked there. Is that where you lived?

    • @gmanandhislady
      @gmanandhislady ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NCMemoryMakers No, I grew up down the street in a old blue house, it was the original Concord Baptist Church. The house and a lot of the land, behind where the new apartment complex is now, has been in my family probably 100 years.
      I don't know whom currently lives in that white house facing the highway. Although, I've known some of the people that lived there in the past; one of the past tenants did work, and retire, from the Granite Falls Police department.
      I'm glad our little town has started to grow and expand some, but I miss how Granite Falls was before all of these new businesses and developments in recent years. I remember, vividly, when it was just a big abandoned golf field and old farm land where Walmart is.
