- Today at Ugly Truck, we're taking advantage of some nice weather, and firing up this 1987 Chevrolet K10 (V10) for the first time in 2 decades! This Silverado has a small block 350 with the original throttle body intake, so it's not as simple as squirting gas down the carburetor. Once we know the engine turns over, we check for spark and make sure our injectors are firing, before getting a little creative with our fuel system. Twas the moment before startup,
Em and Jer were at their best.
A fuel system did Jerry mockup;
Emily cleaned an' cleared a nest.
Lube was drained an' renewed.
Throttle body was then set ablaze.
(Before all this..Mill was Unglued..
Twisted...turned.. Jerry did amaze!)
A few burbs, a pop.. almost renewed.
It ran rough for a moment or three.
Jus' bout came back from the dead.
(They say hope will set you free)
"Tomorrow is another day" is said.

My project has a few more years sitting, last tagged in 2001. But it is 305 carb'd with the a.i.r. pump. Had a sticky cylinder but got it spinning free now. New oil and plugs, now to figure our plug wire routing and rewire the broken connections (mouse/squirrel nest has been evicted).
Hope you have better luck with the carb than we did with this throttle body! We appreciate you watching!
@@UglyTruckExperience I'm sure you two will figure it out. I'm thinking my achilles heel is going to be wiring...not many left after years of rodents, only good thing is it doesn't take to many wires to run a 1981 model.
This is super helpful. My nephew has a squarebody that’s a 350 and I have no idea how to work on carb’d motors. I’ll be watching this a few hundred times 😂 He refuses to go LS sooooo yeah.

I was blown away that Emily got the oil plug out without getting a drip on her hand! I have been doing this all my life and get coated every time! Is there a special technique? Love these videos, learn something new every one I watch.

@@UglyTruckExperience I have been waiting on parts. The TV cable was bad and I had a hard time with bracket geometry. I think it will be done this weekend. I wired it into a brake light switch for cruise control and I am breaking the circuit that way.
I was curious how many diet Cokes Jerry has in a day? Karla's never seen without one either. I pulled my heater core out of the 72 this weekend. Had to grind most of the fasteners on the wheel well to get it out. Working through the switch and resistor so we can have heat. It turned into quite a job😊
I think he only drinks 1 or 2 a day, but it's kind of a Talladega Nights "I don't know what to do with my hands" thing in the videos. 🤣🤣 We replaced one of the inner fenders on my 70, and I dread doing the other side. Thanks for tuning in, Bill! --Emily
One or two isn't bad. I allow myself 3 Pepsi's. I actually mix it with milk. Whole milk is the best. It was funny when you used your legs to free the over tightened oil plug. I'm getting the original heater core recored because the repops have different tanks so those metal bands don't fit. Pretty expensive but I don't want to tear out the heater box again. My rebuilt turbo 350 cork pan gasket is leaking. I've been switching them leaky cork gaskets to the blue moroso gasket with embedded metal in the middle. Like $30 but the only pan gasket I can get to seal. Maybe Jerry knows a trick with cork. I sure enjoy watching you two work together, very good channel 👍

Great video enjoy following y’all’s videos, what is the best year model to LS swap an 83 chevy truck. I guess another? What is the newest model I can go with and still use my TH350 trans and transfer case
If I was going to swap that, I would find any Gen 3 or Gen 4 without EGR and drive by cable. The reason for the drive by cable would be the cable kick down on the TH350. If you don't care if it has kick down then you could go drive by wire which I personally think is easier. If you look for a donor vehicle, truck donors make it much easier. If I had to pick a best year, I would say 2005 or 06. Thanks Scott. Let us know how it goes. Jerry and Emily
